@@dubcoyote and Springboks and ABs have been ranked 1 or 2 for 90% of rugby history. World cup is a tournament who decides who the best is. Dominating end of year tours is different compared to world cups. World cups determine who the best team is.

The world Cup is magnificant but it is a cup and you could win if get a good draw. Less of an element of luck in consistent rankings. Ireland moved past SA and ABs a while back, have been beating them both regularly for years now.

For example, Springboks played Kolbe at fullback and played without a goal kicker and by the way I wouldnt be too proud if my team beat the springboks especially if both of the tries came from situations where they should have been penalized and still win by only 3 points at home... Don't water down the world cup because you are one of the worst NH hemisphere teams to play in it since you never ever won a knockout games. You have been beating the boks only in Ireland and once in South Africa. And you won a series in New Zealand which South Africa, Australia, France and England have already done. but end of the year test matches are basically friendlies for the SH. At the real games that count...Ireland even ends up losing to Japan.

I just dont feel people should Dog on Damien Willemse for missing the conversion kicks when he was put into a position he was not meant to be in. SA lost Pollard and Jantjies and went into the game with no kicker. Willemse stepped up to the plate but was not his fault, he tried.

Agreed. Only comfort was it appeared from a selection point of view that winning wasn't their top priority. It was to get some players into form, test some new combinations and test the oppositions strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully they got enough Intel pre world cup, and fingers crossed RG Snyman returns in stellar form.

Ya, the match against Ireland was rigged but France won fair and square. However, we learned that we can beat both teams even though we lost against them both.

Against Ireland I think SA got unlucky with some calls, but I felt like physically they were overall stronger but failed to convert opportunities. Ireland showed just enough physicality and grit to stop SA momentum. Against France, SA showed that if they play reckless they will get carded, even then they can still survive and still threaten with a man down. They were stronger physically but again struggled to convert opportunities. All teams showed on any given day anyone can get a win. But think SA showed no one wants to play them in a WC tournament given you will walk away battered and bruised even if victorious.

@@maevefx His problem is psychological. I was basing this statement on his form from back then. He was the top point scorer in the URC and had a very good goal kicking success rate. Granted, it's clear he has struggled to adjust to the international level.

at the end of the day it means *** all only thing that counts is what the score board says. the difference is that Johnny Sexton is a place kicker, South Africa didn't select a single designated place kicker for the entire Autumn Internationals (as an Irishman I'm thrilled at that).
