Ireland number 1 for a reason

Ireland are on a 16 game winning streak and the record is 18, both Ireland and South Africa are two of the 4 teams in the tournament really capable of winning it all. The other two being France and the All Blacks (New Zealand).

Now watch England, having enjoyed the easiest cruise to a WC semi-final imaginable, ride a wave of questionable red-cards and opposition injuries and lift the cup.

So with a collapsed maul, the ball has to be readily available to play, if it needs to be dug out under the players, its a turnover.

Fine margins eh. Some RSA fans would say Ireland pulled the maul down. And should have got a pen.

A fantastic game. Check out Scotland vs Ireland and potentially Ireland vs New Zealand in a couple of weeks, there will be a few people getting sat down.

It's pretty much a must win for both teams. Scotland for a place in the Quarter finals and for Ireland to not have to meet France on home soil. Should be a great game.

So, with this loss, SA will probably be playing France in the playoffs and Ireland will be playing New Zealand who just seems to have found their feet during the match with Italy.

As a French I don't really know what to think about that... Especially with Dupont out. We don't even know when he'll come back if he even does.

@@guiguijol All the best in the next game and for Du Pont. I just hope they don't force Du Pont to play against SA if he is injured, especial since we are very physical to play against. If he is forced to play, it will raise a concern about the depth of the French team, but even SA struggled without Kolisi

@@jeanm27 No way for now he plays this soon apparently. Maybe back for finals. Nobody knows. Not even the team for now, or they keep it secret. It's Dupont not Du Pont 😉 All the best to you too guys, until we meet lol

The scrum is difficult to understand sometimes because we can't see what's going on in there. But mostly it's for collapsing the scrum and the Ref or his touch judge (who also referee games) watches the other side. So sometimes you'll see the Ref blow for a penalty and generally they say why they gave the penalty. Ireland #10, Johnny Sexton is 38 years old and is considered the best #10 in the world at the moment. He came off suspension at the start of the RWC for telling the Referees in a club game that they were a disgrace for how they officiated. Yes, the Refs are kings, but mostly they're very professional and the players respect them. For NFL fans, you will see similarities with football, but rugby is more about gaining ground and keeping the ball in your opponents territory. That's why you'll see a lot of kicking which turns the ball over to the opponent. In football you only have to break the plane of the end zone to score, whereas in rugby you have to touch the ball down on the ground (downward pressure) to score a 'Try'. A try gets you 5 points and the conversion 2 points. A penalty gets you 3 points and a drop goal gives the same. In football all extra kicks are directly in front of the goal, whereas in rugby the kick for the conversion is spotted in line with where the player touched the ball down for the try. That's why you see players run into the 'In goal area' (end zone) close to the sideline, and then try to run toward the goal to give the 'Fly Half' (kicker) a better angle for kicking the Conversion. You will hear the word 'Phases' used. That's where you have possession and moving forward. When the other team stop you and the ball goes to ground, but you maintain possession and start another drive, that's a Phase. For a good example of phases, ending with a drop goal, watch this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QOjF6rRRHWQ.htmlsi=BCUPklqrYhcR2Q45 Anyway, wrote more than intended. TY for the video. PS. There's room for footballers who don't make it to the NFL in Rugby Union.
