In this one, we take a pile of our smaller tumbled iris agate slabs and make silver settings for them by turning them into pendants! Due to the nature of iris agate, it does not lend itself well to jewelry; in order to capture the amazing rainbow that makes iris agate so special, light must be able to pass through the stone from the back meaning any ring or other closed setting will just kill your iris. With this method however, you can wear iris agates and show their full color off! These open backed settings are incredibly simple to make and can be used on a huge variety of stones, certainly not just iris agate. All you need is some silver bezel strip and some high gauge round silver wire and you are all set to get to started on these awesome settings that really allow the stone to shine!
