In this episode of Oklahoma Gardening Host Casey Hentges is dividing and transplanting irises in our garden to ensure of more irises to come next spring. Here’s four general tips if your irises aren’t looking up to par:
1.Too much shade is bad
2. Do not over crowd your irises
3. Do not over fertilize the soil
4. Do not bury irises too deep in the soil, leave room for the rhizomes

Thank you very much. my irises did not bloom this year. I have plenty of green healthy looking foliage but no flowers. I will go in and space them out and see if I can still get some blooms

Thank you for this! If there is substantial rot, can I still replant the decent rhizomes? I am hoping I can salvage the bed using the same soil?

My irises always fall over. I stake them but they look so unnatural. Any ideas!

I want to get rid of a lot of these extra iris plants. I dug some plants up last year and let them lie in the Sun and they are still alive and big and I just want to get rid of these rhizomes and everything so how can I cause them to die so they can just be chopped up and put on the garden excess pile. They don't ever shrink up and dry up where they can go in a garden bag for recycling.

I have divided the rhizomes, used only the biggest, did not plant them to deep, in a sunny spot, fertilized them in spring a little bit and still all did not flower. The very first year they were amazing. What is wrong?
