Thanks for the review. For anyone else interested, the MiWand2 is from a Chinese manufacturer that re-badges this scanners for many other OEMs. In the United States the "PanDigital" brand is your best bet to find these, the "Pandigital Handheld Wi-Fi Wand Scanner with Feeder Dock" appearing to be literally this exact same model. With a bunch of units on eBay since apparently a bunch were sold via QVC and HSN.

Hey, thanks for doing such a comprehensive review! I just bought 15 of the Avision scanners without the dock for a dollar each (CAD). Batteries still work, oddly. They are sealed and date stamped August 2013.

Thank you for the review. I've got iriscan book 5 and I've had really hard time to scan books. I bought it to scan law books. I thought it would help me to save time in the library and it would be easy to use. But it doesn't scan the whole page, it can't read the edges (maybe because law books are really long and connection part is too tight) If anyone know the solutions to my problem, I would much appreciate it. Thanks.

I liked the photo results from the Avision MiWand better than the Iriscan photos, which were dark and over saturated with black, less detail. I need a scanner for old photos. from these examples, I think the Avision would give better results. Would have liked it if you had shown the examples 'right side up," very difficult to compare images, but otherwise, I really appreciated this review and comparison. Thanks.

For me the b/w images were with iris were darker and fuller blacks, avision was sketchy

@@TeflDude Well I ordered an Avision (without the dock), and it's arriving tomorrow so I'll let you know what I think. Ya, I noticed the iriscan b+w was dark, that would really bother me, so that pretty much nixed it for me.

@@Ozworldz Hello, I am thinking of buying the Avision, but I have seen on the internet that it seems to be a very old model and I think it is currently not manufactured. All videos about Avision are over 6 or 7 years old, but I think it is the ideal model because it allows freedom to scan books and straight documents thanks to the support. And I also think that it scans the photographs better by watching this video. What is your experience? Thanks for your answer. sorry for my english.

Yes, because you can scan really long documents like posters longer than A 4

OK - I have ordered an IRIScan Book 5 - it seems the best solution for scanning regular books - besides the dedicated table models which takes up more space.
