Yeah, it's a very early song. The story goes that it was written for an assignment in one night when Dany was 15 at the Berklee summer program and feeling anxious and homesick. It's Dany's song in a way that few others are. It's the only song from the band that has no backing vocals from the other two sisters. And in fact on recent tours she has performed it as a solo acoustic song. I recommend looking up the one from Monterrey in her home town. It's truly heartwarming. It's not a complicated song but I think it's one whose themes are so universal and identifiable. Everyone at one point in their life has felt desperately alone and like no one knows how they truly feel. And the truth is you aren't alone, "but do they even know?" You make yourself believe that you are alone when you aren't because you don't know how to take off the mask and reach out. This song has a special place in my heart as I was in a mental space just like that at the time I encountered The Warning and it was one of those songs that you can point to and go "That. That is exactly how I'm feeling right now." I quickly learned it on guitar and when I sang it it became such a cathartic experience that it often led me to tears (that and Pau's song Breathe). But it also helped me realize that if Dany and so many others who sang that last line in that crowd feel the same then maybe I'm not actually so alone. It helped me realize that I couldn't continue that way and I reached out. Dany in a recent interview with 'Que es la Musica?' (in spanish, sorry) talked about how she carried the weight of leading her sisters in this endeavor from such a young age and felt an immense anxiety because of it: feeling like she was alone and had to be perfect for them and the team, and it was crushing her. And how it took her more than half a decade to reach out and get therapy and alleviate that burden described in those early lyrics. This song helped spur me do the same. It may not be the most spectacular song ever but never underestimate the power of the right song at the right time. That's the magic of music, and I don't think I'll ever forget this one.
This is “Dany’s song”. Written as a homework assignment by a very homesick 15 yo Dany while attending the summer session at Berklee College of Music in Boston. It was included on TW’s first album XXI Century Blood. It’s not normally played anymore on their shorter headlining shows but they dust it off frequently for bigger shows because it’s a huge fan favorite. I saw TW in early 2023 at a small venue and it was audience picked out of a jar (jar song) to be included in the setlist and I was so happy about it. The jar song was something they did on the first leg of the Error World Tour in the US. They had 6 songs that were no longer on the setlist, in a jar, and an audience member got to select the song, usually a young girl. During their 3 high production shows in Mexico in October 2023 Dany plays WIA alone onstage with just an acoustic electric guitar and it is amazing due to the love she gets from the crowd. I’d recommend finding the Monterrey performance on your own time because it is very moving, hometown and all.
This song hits me hard at 57 years old. Walking out of a broken home at 17 and joining the Army meant you always had people around you, but nobody understood what I was going through. Smile and wave boys.
Not so, it was when they all went to Berklee to do their course and Dany was feeling homesick at the end few days of the course - she used it for the end of course project.
As a ‘new’ The Warning fan, I’ve tended to listen to their newer stuff starting with Evolve & some of the popular QOTMS songs like Dust to Dust to what’s coming on the newer album. I haven’t been as interested in their older performances, so this is the first time I’ve heard this song. My first impression? I hear a lot of snippets from ballad/song influences from the 80’s-90’s, whether lyrically or musically, especially the guitar interludes

Maybe Dany's most melodic solo. Fits the song perfectly. Tremendous vocal performance too. A crowd-pleaser too, as you saw from the balcony in the opening bit. Nice reaction.
This was written by Dany when they all went to Berklee to do the course that they got part funded by Ellen Degeneres, the course was Music and songwriting focused on. Towards the end she was feeling quite homesick so she ended up writing it for the end of course project, subsequently it became a track on the Album XXI Century Blood.

The song was originally an anaccoustic piece, so there's that solved. It's a rare song written primarily by Dany, hence the more "radio" pop-punk feel. You should check out the 5 Man Accoustical Jam album by Tesla, it's brilliant. Pax Vobiscum.
This is a song where you should pay attention to the lyrics. As a matter of fact all songs by TW have meaningful lyrics and Pau has said that they sometimes rewrite music to fit the lyrics
The reason you don't have anything to say about it is because The Warning songs tell stories. If you don't pay attention to the lyrics, you'll never understand the whole song. Ya got to step up your game, my friend.
Dany actually did an acoustic version of this song in 2023 at Pepsi Center. Although you prefer going in cold, you miss a tremendous about of emotion from losing the backstory and lyrics. Saying it was a fun song misses the impact of loneliness and depression that was intended! I encourage you to always know a bit about what you are reacting to. Whether you prefer that or not, most fans prefer it, and it makes for better reactions!
Nice reaction. Happy to see more people enjoying their music. But as for Dany not having a strong voice, you're way off! She is a crazy powerhouse. Check out HYCAD live from Pepsi Center for an example.
@@brianbowes1978 She is so understated in her talents, they all are because they leave their egos at the door and let the music as a whole be front and center
