I love Iron Ether for taking chances and trying new things. Their new FMeron is no exception. It is a straight up monophonic FM synthesizer in a pedal format! And it delivers some of those great glassy, metallic FM tones in spades. I talk a lot at the beginning of this video (discussion and explanations). Skip ahead to around 8:40 for the sounds if the chatting isn't your cup of tea.
Bass used: Dingwall ABZ 6 string
Other effects used: Strymon Mobius, Eventide H9, Spaceman Titan II, Moog MF-104m, Source Audio Aftershock, Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe

The way you use synth tones on bass is so inspiring. Officially starting a petition for you to cover the entire Blade Runner score. Also, between this and the Xerograph video Iron Ether should put you on payroll.

Argh, a new synthesis pedal ! I want it now, thank you Zach' XD ! It'll go aside the Super Synth, the Hog2 and the Future Impact. I need a new pedalboard, don't you think ? ^_^ Jokes apart, I loooove FM synthesis, so...it could be a must have one... *whistle whistle* And again, thank you for demonstrating all this good stuff ;) !

Am I magining that it tracks too loose and the filter too glitchy and steppy to make it a really useful musical tool?

Excellent demo, thanks Zach. These must be brand spanking new, there isn't even a listing on the Iron Ether page yet. Do you know if these will be regular production (as much as any IE pedal is “regular” production)? As with most IE pedals, the more extreme settings are way more than I could ever use, but there’s a lot of tones you dialed up in this video that I *could* use. I’m sure I’m not the only person you just sold one of these to with this video. Ha ha!

So is this applying frequency modulation to the actual actual input signal from your bass or is it just tracking your notes and outputting from its internal oscillators? It sounds dope but I'm more curious about what the principles of FM would sound like applied to a guitar or a bass, as opposed to just translating the notes into a DX7 sound or whatever if that makes sense? I wonder of there are any vibrato pedals that can be pushed into FM speeds

Hi Zachary, I always find your reviews to be very informative and you are fast becoming my go-to source for in-depth reviews. Thanks. Could you please tell me how well this tracks compared with the Future Impact? I have one on loan and love the sounds but am encountering triggering issues with faster lines, both on repeated notes and when moving to different pitches. It happens more on certain preset patches than on others. Do you have reviews of the Subterranea and Freqbox? I’m on the hunt for something which can recreate Minimoog sounds. Will you be reviewing the Pigtronix Mothership 2?

sounds similar to the prunes and custard or the fuzzmonger which also are intermodulators which also give that fm sound.

I like this channel... but I find this pedal so disappointing ... it just sounds crap to me. Seriously, my 22 year old Boss ME-8B sounds better than this.
