How do you NOT fucking love this guy? I could sit and listen to Nicko talk for hours..dude is so hilarious and so damn happy. One of the true unrecognized greats..people don’t give him nearly the credit he’s earned or deserves. And at 70? Brother plays harder and with more passion than kids half his age. And he loves what he does..rock on Nick
I like him very much and I think he is wether underrated nor undercredited. He gets a lot of love ❤️ by his fans. The only thing which I don’t like is how he treated SONOR. How he left SONOR, who supported him very well for many years was shabby.
It’s very noticeable if you listen to Senjutsu songs and then Book Of Souls songs, the drums are soooo much crisper and really cut through on Senjutsu. Nicko is right, a high quality kit and high quality mics absolutely help, but the guy who is responsible for getting that sound from the kit to our ears is the most important piece of the puzzle (we already know the drummer is of the highest quality, that goes without saying).
@@TonyMontana-mj6ec - **Mrs. Toni Mantino32** - WRONG!!!!! Your SLAYER once stated this, that, *"Our band will NEVER open for another band."* - Do your reseasch, Pilgrim. They were more than happy to open for Maiden during their 2000 tour of the UK. They acted like fucking little children (in the playground) to be touring with them thoughout Europe! - PUNK! - You're owned.
Peter Chris, and Nicko are the reason I have been playing drums for 30+ years. Pete lit the fire but Nicko was the gasoline that has kept me burning. So, Thank you Nicko for all of the AMAZING music you have created and the inspiration you have gifted to me. A true drum living legend. And a hell of a nice guy !!!!! 🤘UP THE IRONS🤘
Me too! I was lucky enough to meet Nicko 25 Years ago at the Frankfurt Music Fair, playing with his blues band at the Marshall booth on a tiny kit, playing, laughing, telling jokes all the time, shaking hands, beeing just a funny guy, not a Rock Star! I´ll never forget that hours! Thank you Nicko!
The energy, the honesty and the humbleness of Nicko is just amazing. You can see the way he talks to us, the fact that he praises everyone, from his helper to the camera and video editor. We can just love Nicko and thank him for being him and for making this video. And about the technical part, Pooch is really amazing, and so precise. And what a dream, to work with this level of musician and hear "You decide, it's your tapestry." Learned a lot, love it. Time itself will let Nicko be alive and playing for so much more years! Even it love the Iron Maiden too!
Great job Nicko! 👏 🤘 Can't f'n wait to see you October 11th 2022 in Toronto 🇨🇦!!! Stay Safe and enjoy the rest and the amazing tour! IRON MAIDEN 4EVER 🤘💯🔥🤘
"Doctor Doctor" starts... Our energy level - ⬆️⬆️⬆️ 😆 May all go really well until the end of the tour. It was great seeing you and the boys again Nicko!!!
When I heard "Where Eagles Dare" for the first time back in '85, I thought Nicko was the best drummer I'd ever heard. And he's just as good - if not even better - now, in 2022. Amazing! Nicko is not only a great drummer, but he also comes across as one of the nicest guys you've ever met. I'm loving these videos...keep up the good work!
I noticed within the last few years Maiden was able to get one of the best drum kit sounds I have ever heard. Deep thunderous tom toms but very articulate and controlled.
I've been lucky enough to photograph Iron Maiden shows 4 times, and out of those four times, I believe I have one (lousy) photo of Nicko. I love absolutely everything about what he does and the kits he uses except for the fact that I simply haven't been able to dig him out of there with my lenses.
my favorite legendary band one of the best of the world artists magistral iron maiden & nicko greatest playing drummers. love great best band favorite iron maiden. thank you guys iron maiden & nicko greatest playing best drummers ever the true heavy metal forever 🤘🎸
It would be great to see something like this, but with guitars (e.g., how they're miked, EQ'd, compressed, etc.). Thank you, Nicko and Pooch, for sharing your knowledge with us. I am sure drummers around the world will take inspiration from your words of wisdom.
@@latentsea Yes, but Maiden's rig (e.g., Adrian's rig) has changed over the years (he currently uses JVM410Hs). Plus, it would be nice to hear their thoughts on best ways to mike the amps and whatever else they do in the signal chain to get that more old-school tone. Just the topic of miking the guitar cabs could be the subject of a whole episode.
Thanks for sharing this with us Nick & the Maiden crew, highly appreciated! It'd be cool if you in the future could do the same with the guitar & bass techs as well, and perhaps with the tech who does Bruce's onstage monitoring as well! 👍🏿👍🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Nicko has been (and continues to be) an inspiration for me in getting introduced to drumming and keep playing the drums and trying to improve each day. Even more so to see he is a Christian and prays before each gig. And Maiden one of my favorite all time bands (along with Rush), so guys please keep going!!
I could listen to Nicko talk all day. You'll never be bored when Nicko is talking. What a character. lol I can definitely hear the difference in Maiden's live sound since Pooch came on board. Pooch was a great addition to the Maiden family. I am not a musician but I love seeing the backstage videos, the guitar/bass rigs, the drum setups, the sound system etc for Iron Maiden. Will admit that I don't understand most of what they are saying but is still great to hear the attention to details..
8:38 "...quite an expensive microphone actually..." - DPA 4099s are about £560 / $680 each with the drum mount. And Nicko has about 10 on his kit I think? Nothing but the best for the best drummer and the best band in the world.
Nicko and the whole band and crew that work so hard ALL THESE YEARS have given us so much amazing music it is a crime that we never hear it on the radio. Simply a crime, boys and girls! Maiden ROCKS.
Gotta love Pooch. Great engineer. I watch his channel too. And Nicko is just amazing on the kit with a great sense of humor. He cracks me up all the time with these videos. Love the kit.
Discovering Maiden and Nicko in 86 completely changed my life. Here we are in 2022 and they and their crew are still on fire with passion for what they do.
This is the longest conversation between 2 people that I had no idea what they were talking about but was tuned in like a hawk. A Niko podcast with anyone would bring joy to my life like no other.
Two of the coolest people on the planet. I’m not a huge Iron Maiden fan, although I do like some of their stuff and respect the heck out of them, but I’d love to tour with them because it seems like their whole organization is filled with good people all the way around. Pooch’s pandemic podcasts definitely made me better.
I wish those that listen to rap and hip hop would listen and learn what it takes to establish real sounds. Real music. I hope nicko keeps it up for a few more years. The great drummers of yester years are few and I really miss them. Up the irons!
Nicko was the last band member left at the Denver show tossing stuff out to the fans with a big smile on his face, seems like a really cool dude we gave him his own standung O ") Rock on!!!
1 of the happiest drummers in the World, just loves that he calls us fans "boys & girls" & his drums and symbols "This little baby". AND,he is a very good friend with our entertainer Lasse Berghagen, they met while playing golf, 10-15 yrs ago, when Maiden had a day off in Sweden. Hugs & up the Irons from Stockholm,Sweden .-)
