My Iron Maiden Playlist! • Iron Maiden
In this Flight of Icarus guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this Iron Maiden classic note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
The rhythm guitar parts for "Flight of Icarus" are relatively easy to play. Nothing too difficult to worry about for the intermediate level guitarist and above.
However, once the guitar solo sections start, the difficulty level ramps up quite a bit.
The first solo (played by Dave Murray) and the second solo (played by Adrian Smith), showcase their guitar amazing chops with fast legato licks and much much more.
Towards the end of the song we have quick harmony guitar section followed by an outro solo played by Dave Murray. I will cover all of that in detail as well.

One of my favorite Iron Maiden songs! I honestly think Maiden is one of the best metal bands in my lifetime. Especially considering all their accomplishments over the years, earning a WORLDWIDE fan base. Bruce Dickinson flew his own plane to gigs, gotta give credit where credit is due!

Have you every thought of having a more advanced series where you come back and explain some of the theory behind these epic songs, and your insight as to what makes them so great? What key the song is in? What is the relationship between the solos/fills and the rhythms they are played over. I just don't see anyone out there doing this, and I think it would be a great way to help people understand the music they love so much.

I have a very random request Carl Brown you probably never gotten this. Can you do race war by carnivore? It’s the band before Type O Negative with Peter Steele is in. It’s a very good metal song. I'd like to first say love your tutorials and are my go to's but maybe it's just me, but the amp tone just sort of ruins it for me. Tone sort of reminds of the those old 90's Zoom pedals that had a built in amp sim, never could tolerate it. Can't put my finger on exactly what it is. Again nothing against the video,playing etc, love your videos. Also what model Ibanez is that? Love the look.
