Well what can i say? They are simply one of the very best metal bands, the world has ever seen. Undeniable talent. They are one of the most important bands in the progression of metal over the years.
The 3 probably most influential bands to modern metal are Sabbath, Priest and Maiden. The reason you hear the roots of modern bands is that they pretty much were influenced by these bands. Maiden is universally loved by every genre of metal and also popular with punk fans.
Seen them last year , my favourite band and still full of energy 40 plus years later.....Bruce Dickinson and all the band are legends. 17 albums to choose from...have fun.
Iron Maiden has been around since the 70's !!!! And they are still recording and touring ! They did release ANOTHER new album not to long ago. ABSOLUTE AMAZING musicianship. " METARDICA " is definitely a band that would not be here if not for these guys.
In the beginning of the song Bruce is pointing up telling his sound engineers to turn up his vocal monitors so he can hear himself all over that big stage
Sabbath, Motorhead,Judas Priest, AC/DC, Whitesnake,Saxon, Iron maiden,Thin Lizzy, Zeppelin,Deep purple,Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull the list goes on, I would recommend any of the ones you haven't heard of you can't really go wrong...
Love me some Motorhead, I'll be looking at stuff by almost everyone with the exception of AC/DC, step dad and too many friends were massive fans so I've heard so much of their stuff and don't like much of it (after 3 songs on a single listen all their stuff sounds the same to me)
@@EBReacts bit of useless information for you, I met the drummer of Motorhead when he was visiting my Regiment in Germany in the late 80's, he signed an autograph to my unborn daughter saying "much love to the bump" as we hadn't named her lol, his dad served in the same regiment as me before my time though..
Up the very beautiful, sentimental and emotional, melodic, powerful, dynamic, vigorous, dramatic, heavy, unique, epic, theatrical and well-balanced Irons, at the same time, and that’s very rare unique, and special, at least mostly!! Man, don’t compare to any bands 80’s or not! They are just different with all i’ve said above!! Most bands either too heavy or too soft, but they have it all most of the time!! Enjoy the music without much comparing, you will be tired lol! For me they stand out way way high!! And I don’t live under a rock, i listen to many things from different genres and cultures, they are one of the best, they stand out! In the end, it’s my mostly subjective view, whatever!!! Btw., you keep saying screaming or whatever, man metal isn’t just some extreme subgenres lol!!!! More accurate in the big picture with their catalog, in terms of vocals, it’s distorted and raspy vocals with loudness and TONS OF GREAT MELODIES, it’s very instrumental-driven music in a well-balanced way!! It’s not just like every day band lol!!! Up the Irons!

It wasn't his first show and this wasn't his first time performing the song. It was his first tour. However, it is true that it was the first time the audience had the chance to hear it.
"The Trooper" is another great Maiden song amongst many. They're basically a 5 piece band with no weaknesses. They all excel at their craft and are historically significant. Lars Ulrich of Metallica admitted that they play The Maiden backstage as they warm up for their concerts. Follow the Maiden rabbit hole.
If you don't know Maiden then you don't really know metal, honestly. Starting to listen to music in the 90s and having that be your starting point is like microwaving some chicken nuggets and thinking you're having a fancy chicken dinner. Thanks for the reaction. Keep going, it's a very nice rabbit hole.
Great reaction and thanks for sharing. That show was a few days before the album that song was on debuted. Also Bruce the singer was a new singer. So the crowd did not know the singer or the song. Iron Maiden is one of those old school bands that played their songs from beginning to end in the studio just as if they were live for recording the album. Which means live they are amazing. Listen to any of their Abby Road studio songs from their albums in the early 2000's . Heck just a few years ago they released 'The Writing on the Wall' an amazing song and video. I have seen them live in the 80's, 90's, 2000's, 10's and 20's. They do not disappoint. The list and rabbit hole is deep for this band. If you want suggestions just ask. Some of their best songs were never singles. Heck corporate radio hated them since they were self produced and managed. Songs like this over 6 minutes made radio and record companies go insane. Yet still the best Metal band ever. Played in front of more people in more places than most. They have fanatical fans in countries that don't even speak English. Check out Rock in Rio 'Fear of the Dark' just a small intimate crowd of Portuguese only a quarter of a million strong singing along. Have fun. Look forward to more Iron Maiden reactions. They did have a different lead singer in the late 70's with a more punk sounding vocal. But their music and guitar work was still a precursor of what you just saw. Other songs from this album that are notable. 'Run to the Hills' 'The Prisoner' 'Children of the Damned' '22 Acacia Avenue' 'Invaders' and 'Number of the Beast' there videos were very eclectic when released and almost always contained old movie footage since their songs usually were about history, books, old movies, or personal events; not your usual rock drivel.
I don't watch a ton of reaction videos, but this was one of the more thoughtful ones I've seen. Appreciate it. You're very unlikely to be let down if you choose to drop down the Maiden rabbit hole. Certainly one of the more influential bands of all time, I still don't know why they're lazily lumped into the metal category with Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath, etc. They're much more progressive hard rock. Their influences are almost entirely 60s and 70s rock, particularly prog rock like early Genesis, Jethro Tull, Yes and others.
Hey EB, THIS BAND!!!! 1st album I bought with my own money was Iron Maiden - Live After Death (Double Tape Cassette Version) 1985 & I was 7 years old, saw the cover with 'Eddie' & HAD to buy it. Its been a mainstay ever since, even tho my music taste has changed over the years. These guys possibly did it best, thats all I can say. Happy listening bro. Gav UK.
scorpions were around years before Maiden. Maiden was my first concert and I love them, but let's be real. Michael Schenker was a big influence on Maiden, etc. Maiden becoming fairly big in the early 80s helped other bands get more notoriety, but I just have to disagree about the Scorpions. Now Metallica and all those thrash bands, sure, they took what Maiden did and added/altered it, but in some ways they were more influenced by Motorhead, they all sort of thought Maiden was soft. They laud Maiden now, but I was a teen at that time and when you read what they said in magazines and such, they crapped on Maiden. All the big 4 thrash bands are pretty much douches.
like i said, i agree with you in terms of the early 80s thrash scene, they all were chasing Iron Maiden. But the Scorpions were a decade earlier and did not really take much influence from Maiden.
Man dude. It's so cool listening to another old hat like myself just hearing them now. I've been going to their shows since the mid 80's. Yeah man, this is back before click tracks, compiling songs in the computer to snap the beats to the click, having the triggers on the drums and it being a computer sound, not the real, resonant, skin and wood sounds of the real drums. Yep, back then being a musician was like training for athlectics. In fact pro drummers I know would practice 8 hours a day back then. Yeah cool reaction man.
1000 people screaming "motorhead" 😅. One of the greatest live stadium bands. When you can sell a week of sell-out gigs in south America or India, you know you are killing it.
I think they only got better and better with regards showmanship as the years have gone by, rather than the guitarists looking a bit stern they mellowed and genuinely looked like they're loving doing what they do. Rime of the Ancient Mariner (flight 666 version) is one of their most epic performances
A band to check out who were a big influence on Iron Maiden and bands like Rush and Dio and even Richie Blackmoor from Deep Purple and Rainbow ... is Jethro Tull. Now, they get as lot of shit for having beat Metallica for the first 'Hard Rock/Heavy Metal' Grammy, but if people don't know about Jethro Tull and don't understand how heavy and almost creepy sounding some of their music was, they don't know what they are talking about. Tony Iommi spent a few months in Tull in the late 60s. And while he felt it wasn't for him and he went back and re-formed Black Sabbath, it gave him some perspective on how you need to operate as a band if you want to become successful. So he did. And on the other side of it, his playing style left a mark on Jethro Tull and they definitely incorporated doomy, odd moods and challenging sounds to their already unconventional, aggressive music. So yeah, check out some Jethro Tull, you'll be glad you did.
Suggestions : RIME of the ancient mariner, Aces High, The trooper, Alexander the Great, The prisioner, The clairvoyant, Seventh son of the seventh son..... All of them are masterpieces...
Drummer was Clive Burr RIP will always be my favourite drummer in Iron Maiden even though Nicko is extremely good as well, also that's single action kick drum peddle ( Jon Bonham was another that could machine gun a bass drum with a single kick peddle ) I saw them back in 1980's when Paul Di'Anno was lead singer before Bruce Dickinson and Blaze Bailey, You will do well to start with the early Maiden then progress onwards, in this video, on guitars are Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, bass is the legendary Steve Harris.
Maiden are one of the few bands that sound just as good live (if not better) than they do in the studio. They were the first band I ever saw live back in the '80s, and that gig is still probably the best gig I've ever been to.
Alan you simply cannot be a metalhead without a deep love and understanding of Iron Maiden. Them, Sabbath and Judas Priest INVENTED it. This is their Magnum Opus from the greatest Heavy Metal album ever recorded, Number Of The Beast. You need to explore them MUCH more, and there's nearly 50 YEARS worth to work through.
Great stuff. Recommend Rime of the Ancient Mariner live from Flight 666 for your listening & viewing pleasure. Plus about another 100 songs from them 🤘
Absolutely loved your reaction. I could recommend you a million songs of theirs, but I'm sure others here will do so for you. All I will say as a rule of thumb when it comes to Maiden is this: Go for the live videos. Their live videos tend to bring so much more intensity and community with the audience. Don't get me wrong, the studio versions are very good, but you're gonna love the energy of the live performances so much more!
This band goes beyond any musical genre, they are alone in what they do, listen to any song from them, any song at all. They have not written a shit song in their incredibly long career. Peace brother IM is THE band.
I'm not sure how the drummer, Clive Burr, did it. The outside of my left elbow was really aching after a while, being at such a tight angle the whole time.
The singer- great. Musicians-incredible. It’s the compositions I’m not crazy about. I’ve tried since the band came out to love them. Love the talent in this band. Just not the songs.
I call bullshit!!! You say your a metal head who grew up in the 90's listening to metallica......but never heard of iron maiden???? You're better off being honest and giving your opinion of a song INSTEAD of calling it a " 1st time hearing "
Calm down man, maybe in your mind its hard for you to believe but it's easily done! Some people find a few bands they like and just stick with them, I did that myself, I knew a lot of people that did the same too, besides you're miss quoting him, he never said he hadn't heard of them or that he definitely hadn't heard any of their material.
Didn't even know you did this sort of thing simply The Best Band Ever as in Metallica who? Voted by Planet rock as the best Heavy Metal band in history.
They are one of the largest influences of thrash and speed metal. They're heavy metal but they are the forefathers of more than 1 different genre, so the genres they fit, are more than one, and include thrash and speed metal.
