ZealSeraph Unfortunately it is, to me the singer of Iron Maiden is Bruce, but I still appreciate Blaze´s era, I think he has a brilliant voice, and the deeper, lower register really is very good...........
Minor quibble "veterans' imply that they served in the forces on which none of them have, and besides Maiden would tell them to go f*%# themselves!! Up the Irons!!!
@@raidrfrk i was on i think 12 Irons concerts, and u must believe taht Bruce is still running on stage no matter is he 40 30 or 60 years old. He still does it. Also Steve hahaha, and Nicko's smile. just i got to say that Maidens are goats. UP IRONS!!
very easy to play. That song was very easy in build and that made her unique. For me is the Masterpiece like Alexander the Great or The Clansman. One of the epic heavy metal songs ever made!!
It gives me chills when Steve and Dave play together in the middle section. These guys have been tight for four decades and neither have ever strayed from the band. Maiden is deep in their blood and they are deep in its.
Same here, funnily enough it was on a YTMND that showcased the solos....odd place to find it, but there you go. These two specific solos on this version of the song. After that the floodgates opened.
Toni Arnau Check out Blaze's latest version of this song. on his acoustic album "Russian holliday", which he recorded with Thomas Zwijsen. It kicks ass. Cheers!
Milos Milosavljevic Bruce is king, but this is the only song that I prefer Blaze. Except the part of the chorus, blaze cannot sing it because he doesnt have a high voice like Bruce does. Can you imagine a performance of this song with Blaze singing the beginning of the song and Bruce singing the chorus? would be amazing!
It would be awesome, indeed. What bothers me with Blaze's original version is not his vocal range, but, chorus is kinda annoying, flat, irritating, soulless. Makes my ears hurt. Just my impression. Bruce brings more heart to it. In general I don't compare the two of them. Both are awesome, I prefer Bruce, of course. And the other song, which I prefer with Bruce's singing is The Clansman.
Arcanuman1 That´s really a good thing, I respect Bruce a bit more because of it , But the fact remains, Blaze really is a very good singer too, their registers are different, but the both of them are splendid singers.....
No disrespect meant to Blaze, but Bruce's lower register and full chest voice is so much stronger and his upper register is just so powerful. His vocal phrasing as he transitions through the song's low and high notes, maintaining that vibrato throughout and then holding that final ending with the note changes is amazing. For me, the song may have been written with Blaze's vocal range and styling in mind, but Bruce just owns it and makes it his live. This of course, just an old man's humble opinion and is not meant to be disrespectful to Blaze or anyone on here. And, as always the guitar work remains excellent as always, especially the technical talents of Dave and the stage presentation of all three guitarists. Nicko's drumming and percussive talents are always superb and Steve Harris is, in my humble opinion, one of the best bass guitar players in the world. Have a great weekend.
Mike as far as i know, this song was written for Bruce's voice, before his departure from Maiden.. It was the first song written after Fear of the Dark, and Bruce was still in Maiden..
Agis Tournis...In America, it was first released on "The X Factor" album on 10-2-1995, which was the first American album Blaze sang lead on. It is possible that there could have been other releases in other countries with different track listings so you could be right. Either way, it's an awesome song and I love Bruce's vocal interpretation and phrasing. He covers his vocal register so effortlessly, especially at the lower end. Thanks for posting with me. Take care.
+Brian Duff Such a brilliant band deserve more awards recognition, do they not? Let's get them some: www.change.org/p/brit-awards-british-phonographic-industry-give-iron-maiden-s-the-book-of-souls-a-best-album-nomination
Bruce definitely took this song as if it were made for him to sing. Same thing with the Klansman...He did a fabulous job. Cant remember too many times when a vocalist was able to own another vocalists song like that. And no one does it as well as Bruce has. Bruce nailed Runnin Free...and Wrath Child when he took over vocals from Paul...And then this from Blaze...Its incredible...
@@jameskolak4017 Ummm....Why? That's the way they spell it over at the Aryan Brotherhood Church ...they blast that song every Sunday night....I love maiden as much as the next guy but I had to call the cops it was ridiculous the sings along my god.. But turns out the cops were all members attending the services soooo now I get pulled over and searched all the time.. ....jk
Brian Smith one of them for sure. Then you have hollowed be thy name, 7th son of a 7th son, Paschendale, dance of death, Alexander the Great, Children of the Damned...see where I’m going with this ....
And 17 years later they performed it just as insanely brilliant....theese guys are the EPITOME of metal NO doubt what so ever, they don´t produce classics anymore, they produce IMMORTALS....they are so superior to other metal bands that it´s frightening....NO ONE else even comes close...
It's 2017, and I still watch this in shitty 240p quality and I couldn't care less! The song is epic, the band is epic and Iron Maiden kicks ass! Up the fucking Irons!!
In my opinion, out of all songs from Blaze era, this one is the best of all. The Clansman seems to be more popular, and I love it totally as it comes, but this one is my very favorite! What a giant...
Dave just shows in this song how technical he can be with the guitar, cause most of the time he doesnt show... because he doesnt have to... his solos are about melody and not fucking SHOW OFF...
I remember being 16 or 17 and simply played Maiden to upset my parents and be rebellious. The louder, the darker the better, period. But only at 53 at present is it that I start to appreciate how much depth the music and lyrics have and how bloody extraordinary this band of men truly is.
@@voyeurlove I was too young then to really appreciate what I was listening too. I guess it takes a certain age to really appreciate the finer things in life. Wisdom come with age, doesn't it? And now, after having been an anglophile for many years, it is that I see how many great British traditions come together in Maiden songs: storytelling, elements of folk music, a fascination with ghostly things and legend.
The greatest metal band ever period. They play so fucking effortless and these are cray tough arrangements. Seen them over 20 times and they never disappoint. Like good scotch they improve with age.. Life saving music right here ...
This exceeds all limits of what has been done until today in the world of Music. It is the maximum !!! Ladies and gentlemen, we are facing one of the best or best Iron Maiden Masterpieces and in the history of metal 😍🤘❤️🇪🇦 🇬🇧
of course, I love and admire ALL of them, Dave really can blow everything out off the water, I were only describing my own feelings towards Janick, he always have and will forever be my favourite....
I'm sooooo accustomed to Rock in Rio that when i see Maiden nowadays, i sometimes go, oh i wish he played the solo the RIR way, or why didnt bruce shout this or that during whatever song. e.g the clansman - "ALRIGHT fucking scream it!" i expect it and when it doesnt come im like, oh yeah that was only RIR! loool
Still after my 35 years of listening to these guys they are the best. Sure I got plenty of love for other metal bands. But you got to give credit where credit is due...
Iron Maiden is the best band in this world. I am fan of Iron Maiden since 2018 year, still I am. UP THE IRONS FROM CZECH REPUBLIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i still remember listening to this some 8 years ago. this, run to the hills and hallowed be thy name were my introduction to this band, and therefore the metal genre itself. the feels, they are too strong
This is one of those songs that I didn't realise how good it was because of the album it's on. Then Bruce started singing it live and the guitars had a heavier sound and the atmosphere of the crowd all gave it a new lease of life.
This is what I like about Iron Maiden. Many other bands, if they were in post-reunion Maiden's shoes, would simply forget the material during the Blaze era. But Maiden didn't. So glad songs like this and The Clansman are still played to this day.
I remember after playing some iron maiden flash game back in probably 06 or 07 on my parents PC, I thought it was a flash game based off of an Xbox game or something so I looked up Iron Maiden on youtube. This was the very first Iron Maiden video I ever watched and heard. Then I asked my dad about them and right enough he went upstairs, came back down and gave me the Rio DVD to go and watch in my room
fico observando na cara de satisfação do Harris com o Bruce cantando esses sons da era Blaze...sem desmerecer o Blaze, a música fica bem maior na voz do mestre.
Just listen......you feel the vibes, don´t you ??? The grandeur and splendor of this empiric masterpiece is unbelievable, aswell as their impeccable performance. Honestly theese guys are second to none, and PURE MAGIC was created on that stage....
nao importa o ano eu vou curtir kkkk mas eu so queria saber qual a dificuldade dos cameras em se concentrar no guitarrista na hora do solo! FOCA NO CARA po
Eleven saintly shrouded men Silhouettes stand against the sky One in front with a cross held high Come to wash my sins away Standing alone in the wind and rain Feeling the fear that is growing Sensing the change in the tide again Brought by the storm that is brewing Feel the anxiety hold off the fear Some of the doubts in the things you believe Now that your faith will be put to the test Nothing to do but await what is coming Why then is god still protecting me Even when I don't deserve it Thought I am blessed with an inner strength Some they would call it a penance Why am I meant to face this alone Asking the question time and again Praying to god won't keep me alive Inside my head feel the fear start to rise... They'll be saying their prayers when the moment comes There'll be penace to pay when it's judgement day And the guilty'll bleed when that moment comes They'll be coming to claim, take your soul away The sign of the cross The name of the rose, a fire in the sky The sign of the cross They'll be coming to bring the eternal flame They'll be bringing us all immortality Holding communion so the world be blessed My creator, my god'll lay my soul to rest The sign of the cross The name of the rose, a fire in the sky The sign of the cross Lost the love of heaven above Chose the lust of the earth below Eleven saintly shrouded men Came to wash my sins away
