That's because the alternative is basically Charles Xavier's way, and that leads to a lot of innocent dead kids and a lot of butt kissing. Of people that hate you.
Ultimately him and Charles both have some good ideas and are just acting as they see fit but both are also flawed in ways. They're very much shaped by their individual life experiences and act accordingly. They have respect for one another but they also usually are on opposite sides of the battle so they must act against one another. X-Men is a more nuanced story than most people give credit for as a whole. Not every issue is gold, but the overall narrative was pretty solid for a long time.

@@noahwattel4226 Plot armor. Magneto ripped Apocalypse's head apart using the magnetic field around it so basically Mags can do whatever the writers need him to. Much like the things Wolverine can survive. In one comic he states he is terrified of drowning as it is one of the few ways to actually kill him then in a movie he comes back to life after being drowned. Make believe is wonderfully adaptive lol
@simonfischer4624No, he can't. Nano Tech are microscopic machines that are composed of atoms. What holds atoms together? If you paid attention in science class you know the answer to this. Everything, inherently "magnetic" or not is composed of atoms, and the "field" that holds the atoms together. Eric "Max" Eisenhardt a.k.a. Magneto can control the entire Electro Magnetic Spectrum on a sub-atomic level. Do the math.
That's actually a pretty great point. MCU's Iron Man from 2008 would delegate it to Jarvis and Jarvis would give him full report about the video (the stuff that makes sense and if present, the stuff that doesn't make sense). If he had to he'd examine the video himself, so this really doesn't make sense. Also in this setup Magneto can do whatever he wants with vehicles and he'd do some damage, but how is he gonna protect himself if Iron Man decides to attack him?
As the younger generations start to write the worst the storylines become. And don't get me started with DCU. They're light-years ahead of the MCU when it comes to terrible writing.
@@walterkoziol3822generation is definitely not a factor in the ability to write. And pretty sure after that Tony went and Magneto-proofed his armor, so it would be ready for AvX... *sigh* Just another case of superheroes going for each other's neck. But at least seeing Tony getting humbled will always be satisfying.
The need to keep the status quo going for mutants somehow, so they always make the Avengers at odds with them for stuff like this. Even though, like you said, a bunch of mutants have been Avengers and fucking Steve Rogers would be the first guy standing up for them who isn’t a mutant himself.
Just so everyone knows. Magneto controls the ENTIRE Electromagnetic Spectrum. EM spectrum includes radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays and gamma rays.
Not true. Malcolm X didn't wan't black people to *displace* other races, he wanted equal energy: i.e. "However you treat me, you get treated". "If you can have it your way, I can have it my way too". (His position was less aggressive after Hajj) Magneto outright wants to displace humanity, or at least wants humanity to be reduced to 3rd class citizens.
Am I the only one who thinks Tony and Steve were… kinda dumb here? Or at the very least, close-minded? Like, maybe Magneto is guilty, but the footage and hair doesn’t feel like enough. Maybe barely so. But they should know by now that DNA can be planted. At least consider the possibility.
Not really. If all they'd had was video evidence and the X-men had video evidence to counter, there's a fair chance Magneto would be allowed to walk. But DNA evidence is very damning. If it were a non-super powered person they'd be arrested on the spot, an investigation would be done and the suspect would stand trial. Cap and Tony are in the right to try to arrest Magneto here, especially since the President ordered them to handle it at the start of the video.
Tony don't want any of the business Mags could give him. My man lives on Earth with an Iron Core. What's a Iron Man to a guy that can flip the Earth on its axis from his chair?

Magneto was showing Tony how wrong and stupid it was to think that they had contained him by limiting the metal in the room since the rings on the curtain were metal and there were vehicles outside that were close enough for him to use.
With ease since he can just manipulate protons and electrons in a human body which composed of electo-magnetic field which Magneto controls to sub-atomic level
Safewords are obviously a necessity for this comic. First Steve, then Tony? Wow. I'm impressed they got away with all that and didn't have to make it an adult only comic book. Maybe they should have brought Emma frost or jean grey in so the guys could see what really happened with magneto. Has anyone ever done a video on what x men comic book may have the most common sense vs least common sense?
I understand how tony thinks he just thinks what's the best way to get killed 😂 But like his confidence on the writers they won't kill him ever . Even if they does they will bring him back again 😂
"You did quite a lot of effort to limit the amount of metal in this room." Tony: "Try me" Immediately pulls up cars, trucks, the very rings holding the curtains. Bro got slapped 3 times over. No matter what, humans rely upon metal, and metal is the very fabric of the world and its gravity. Even if he took away all the metal within a several meters to the entirety of the neighborhood, he still wouldn't be able to keep Magneto down. Magneto doesn't even really need the metal around him to fight, as proven once before everything has metal and needs it... including Humans themselves whether it be through equipment or even internal consumption.

@@kamolhasan5411 A lot. He typically is depicted as the lovable asshole mainly after 2008 for obvious reasons. Even today he still got that "Im right" attitude which is amazing and frustrating at the same time.
Such poor writing. Tony telling Steve to pull up footage? Like he doesn’t have direct access to all the AV equipment? Tony not having every sensor in the world tuned for Magneto’s powers? Heck, even proximity alarms would have seen the floating cars as threats. Unless the building was wired with some exotic wiring, there’d be tons of metal in the walls. If there’s a stove or dishwasher in the kitchen, that’s enough metal to shred Tony and Cap before they twitched.
Silly Iron Mensch. He forgets there's iron in his blood too. If Magneto wanted to, he could just give everyone in the room a fatal brain aneurism but of course, the writers aren't smart enough to figure that out yet. Sheesh!
Stark deserves way more respect and admiration than Magneto ever will. Magneto's power was handed to him on a platter by genetic lottery, while Stark, even though his intellect was also a result of genetic lottery, had to bust his ass learning and then applying what he learned, bit by bit, into usable power.
but Magento and his people were hated by all for his powers, and he ended up becoming more than his powers, he became a leader, and the mutants could come behind. Tony, on the other hand, has not been a good leader until fairly recently. i'd say both deserve thier level of respect.
Superman would have a different time against Magneto. Reason, Erik can control every kind of magnetic and electro-magnetic field. All Magneto would have to do is strip Supes of his electromagnetic field or control it to beat Superman.
You typed that out and it never has crossed your mind that Superman has fought and won against beings that can control electromagnetic fields, beings that can take away his powers, and beings that can control him? That's assuming Magneto's power even works on Supes.
So supes gets power from the sun. Hes basically a battery. Mags can control energy and light. So, if mags can somehow drain supes, then he might have a chance. The problem is supes speed blitz though. But if mags has his shields up, he might be able to contend to that since his shields have survived nuclear blasts

The dynamic in the X-Men continuity never ceases to catch my attention. On one hand, within the greater MCU, you have super powered beings who are most often human that all have enhanced metaphysical abilities through various sources. Some of whom can be classified as "human-mutates" who were not born with their abilities, but were later genetically modified to have them in some way. Others, like Namor, were born with them but aren't truly human. On the other hand, those who are classified as "mutants" are nearly universally ostricized within the whole of society. That sentiment is manifested through blind hatred and prejudice, something Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr would be the most familiar with by far not only within the entire X-Men lineup, but probably the entire MCU as well.
it`s simple, there are few who were born that way. that makes people jealous and is a danger of a way of life, when you know, that your species is going extinct.
A lot of people think that it's some kind of plot hole. But the truth is, hate doesn't have to be logical and it doesn't require intellectual consistency.
It is a bit silly though mutants have some reasons to be hated. A lot of mutants have very dangerous abilities which are nearly impossible to control (like Wither). You can compare it to Hulk who was hated for a long time when he struggled to control his green persona. Also a lot of mutants look ugly lol. The extent of those two things is hard to deduce. Most active X-men don't have terrific appearance (only Beast and Nightcrawler) or uncontrollable abilities (Cyclops technically can't control his beams but it's a stretch) yet it can be attributed to survivorship bias - since the comic book stories would be more focused on more capable mutants (otherwise it might become lame and boring) and more capable mutants are more likely to seek big action rather than some losers with just an ungly face with useless powers. Also it probably makes sense for most mutants to be statistically weak enough to be hunted down by things like Sentinels.
@@censorthispuertorican There is truth to that, though I would separate political racism and casual racism (which are always interconnected). For example, while anti-semitism was prevalent in Germany, it was the Nazis who decided to weaponize it and they used it as a means of securing the position of German corporations. First, through the transfer of previously Jewish-owned property and capital into the hands of German oligarchy, secondly - by guiding the hatred of the masses away from the rich in general towards the Jews specifically. Also, taking into account the severe crisis of German economy and influence of communists of the time.
@@andreydoronin6995 I like what you said, can I add a little? If the story was strong, you could create a series about a normal, unpowered humans that people will flock to (aka: literature). While there are good stories in comics about powerful beings, crazy powers are often used to cover for garbage story telling.
comics have always wanked magneto a little too hard. Iron Man should be able to beat him pretty solidly. Also so tired of people referring to bleeding-edge technology as "toys"; is the Atomic Bomb a "toy" ?
@@stephenvargas5806 I’m not saying it’s impossible, just kind of ludicrous… Ironmans suit being made of rubber or metal is the least of his concerns… if magneto really wanted to he could just shut off your brain… heck the man could jumpstart the apocalypse with his power… you know… if the apocalypse looked like the world exploding

If I'm not mistaken, he once wrecked the Avengers by stopping their blood flow. ALL of them. He could've easily killed them if he wanted. Honestly, he'd probably beat most (if not all) of the Avengers, one on one. I think he already beat Thor before. Maybe Scarlet Witch or Monica Rambeau could beat him, I dunno. But yeah, he should be able to handle Tony pretty easily.
He could have brought the core of the Earth back to the surface, but that would have caused a bunch of supervolcanoes and destroyed everything. I think the cars were just enough to make a point without causing any undue damage.
That armor Tony is wearing is made of rubber, no metal. Magneto confirms it himself. Iron Man could blast Magneto in the face before those cars ever make it though the windows. Despite his god complex, Magneto bleeds like any other human.
@@stillwatersrundeep001Ironman ain't blasting Magneto in the face lol not when his shields have held up against Phoenix Jean and several strikes from Thor. Ironman gets royally clapped unless he has prep and even when he did in AvX he won because Mags simply stopped fighting.
Another comment says this is from ten years ago or maybe a bit more. I cannot confirm. I have very little information about recent events, but AFAIK, no, he was never evil. He was Dark Phoenix for a moment a few years ago, but obviously he wasn't in control of his mind at the time. Before that he definitely became a lot more ruthless, but that was a moral improvement.
Tony should be very dangerous to Magneto. He's exactly the kind of genius to create weapons to counter EM powers. Despite his vast power Magneto is still only as durable as a human. (Or action hero) so one good shot from a counter weapon should kill him. Tony looked like a moron in this exchange though.
@elnacho3174 I'm not a scientific genius and I can imagine several... electromagnetism doesn't control everything. The reason you have not seen it is writers want Magneto not to get taken down like a chump.
@@andrewboyer7544 Im telling you its nigh impossible to remove EM from a situation. You cannot block magnetism because it literally exists in everything. If you are looking at it strictly through the metal lens you are not doing it or Magneto justice.
