It's crazy how far battle rap has come. I remember watching this in my teenage days. I'm 31 now. Here you see iron Solomon splitting his 100$ winnings with thesaurus. Just before he splits the cash he says "I'm gonna split this money because we should be getting paid more, maybe like 1000$" fast forward 10-15 years, look how the bag has changed.
"All I know is that" is his go-to filler phrase... anyone who really freestyles understands that. All of the battle rappers from this era had a go-to phrase.
Lol tantrum "Stfu because your rapping sucks" Always says "shut the fuck up" in battles Then um who else Dumbfoundead would always says "God damn" I don't agree that all the rappers had a go to phrase But a lot of them did I know some rappers try relying more on the gimmick and premeditated bars And don't need a catch phrase
@@TheOo0oO They were making a lot more than $100 bucks for battles back then. This was at the peak of Off the head rap battles. It's all pre written now. These 2 were the top battle rappers at the time. This was always a much anticipated match up but it never officially happened in any tournaments. It was only $100 bucks because there's no sponsors. This is like Rocky and Tommy street fighting.
Why is this the best comedy battle ever written the spokesmodel for Coke bottles!! How do u say that with a straight face the porcupine line is god tier! Dude I would have to leave the battle after irons 1rst verse! LEGEND
Honestly solomons material was better but these were freestyles back then, solomon came with obvious writtens and saurus was 100% freestyle. Saurus really showed why hes a mt rushmore candidate here. Not many can carry the same 3 syllable rhyme pattern for multiple bars off the top. Both always legends tho
I onky just noticed this aswell watching it now and couldn't believe thesaurus lost it even though back in the day I gave this to Solomon. I think it's safe to say that we as humans (even the judges) are still learning more about what raps really about everyday
on some real shit, this was back in the "freestyle "days and Solomon wrote and recycled lines from previous battles, through in a couple of fresh bars in the beginning and called it a verse, thesaurus freestyled his shit and was the toughest opponent hes ever faced- he had him shook! thesaurus has hone on to become a champ and is sicker than ever, the outcome today would be quite different, respect to both
Thesaurus was clearly freestylin' and had just finished battlin' other dudes, Solomon's was written except a rebuttal or two. Hard to beat a written with a freestyle.
as someone who raps its funny cause almost everyone has a got to phrase they say while theyre thinkin to prevent stumblin...like dumbfoundead says "Got Dayum!!!" and the saurus says "all i know is that" and he was fuckin up bad cause he said all i know is that at least 15 times soooooooooo yeah got dayum lmao
+Juan Coleman Because he's actually freestyling. Solomon wrote. This was before writing was considered acceptable. That's why Thesarus opened up with that bit about "I know you went home to record those lines, so to say weather its written or not, I guess its borderline"
look at madd illzz freestyling on the sidewalk he never stopped and he was freestyling about ppl walking by him. perfect flow. doesnt mean its written it means hes good
It was a $100 dollar bet yes they each put up $50. Iron mentioned though, that they were each given 1k to start. And I really have to take a guess here, but I think jumpoff paid for Thesaurus' airfare.
Just because Iron Solomon did not freeze or anythig like that doesn't mean he has written rhymes. He uses his opponents own lines to use it against them. Maybe he is that good that people accuse him of using written !
@egga31 when you go on a spree of like 15 very complex rhymes and they all make sense (and are even strong punchlines) - then sorry, they are written...He starts with a few flips, and then proceeds to writtens...TheSaurus had a few lines prepared, for sure, but was mostly off the top...
I hate how they say how anticipated it is. Tonight's battle is not so anticipated and slightly publicized, with both rappers fairly famous, etc. (who the fuck cares)
People can't think that solomons pre writes his rhymes caus he doesn't. He's a lyrical genius and shit just comes to him. Yeah maybe a few rhmyes hebwrites down but I bet all freestylers do that. If you notice he repeats slot of stuff in his otha free styles so I doubt he pre writes it
All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that,
