I always see the primarchs as mirrors and counters to more than one of their brothers. Ferrus manus and vulcan were also great engineers. And yes Perturabo and Robute were empire builders but Horus also was a terrific politician which is also capable of building an empire. The same can be said about the khan, curze and corax. All used hit and run tactics. But all in their own way.
Lord Admiral Spire Iton Warriors are too malevolent for my taste, even more than Word Bearers. And Lorgar actually had a decent reason to rebel unlike Perty the whining bitch.
Iron Warriors Marine: Hey, so nice to finally meet you, father... Perturabo: Get into lines of ten and kill the tenth guy in the line. Iron Warriors Marine: Wait what?
This was done in the roman army to find a way to punish legions who were guilty of very bad crimes of war, without having to execute every one of them. Just 1 out of 10 would get killed and likely it would be the worst guy in that group of 10 according to the group itself. I imagine theyd be like "yeah frank is the worst one of us all, we choose you to die frank, and we arent sorry bc ur a pos and make us all look bad."
From Iron cometh Strength From Strength cometh Will From Will cometh Faith From Faith cometh Honour From Honour cometh Iron This is the unbreakable litany, may it forever be so
Perturabo's issue was that for all his talents, he had little actual understanding of people. He could build the perfect system, but he neglected the people who had to go into that system. His own homeworld rebelled because his way of war took entire generations due to having to sustain such rapid recruitment. The Black Judges used to take dozens every few generations, Perturabo took HUNDREDS in a year. His justification was that those he took were HEROES not fodder. But he treated them like fodder and didn't even have the decency to thank them for their sacrifices. And when a delegation from Olympia was sent to speak to him, he slaughtered them. Everything was black and white with him, to the point of being unreasonable. He's an unbalanced Guilliman. He's a multifaceted individual with talents that go beyond war but he has none of the realism and maturity.
@@magnusthered5994 To extent, the Lion wasn't good with people but he was also self aware enough to know that and he understood the value of such things. Perturabo disregarded it entirely until it boiled over. I also make the connection to Guilliman because both are Primarchs who are concerned which more than just war. The difference was that Guilliman was always doing more than just war and preparing for the day when the wars would be over and you had to focus on maintaining worlds, people and culture. Perturabo wanted to build, he wanted to contribute to art and philosophy. He wanted to add to culture. But more importantly, he wanted to be thanked. He wanted to be loved. But, ironically, he pushed away all the people who would have loved him (his adopted family). Ultimately, you could compare Perturabo to several of his brothers but it all comes back to the same: Perturabo just didn't have the personal fortitude to endure. Everything rankled his pride or shamed him and due to his personality, he had no close to help shore that flaw up. All he ever had was his fragile pride. Just my thoughts.
TresBS1 Well I think that Lion’s loyalty was fragile throughout the Heresy and even before it like Perturabo, but unlike Perty Lion didn’t have a massive daddy complex. Also, Lion was a man of war and nothing else. Overall Sanguinius seems to be the best out of the bunch.
Hector Andem He is unbalanced but in a positive manner. He has great Administration skills and his combat skills are underrated but he isn’t the best commander of fighting men. His approach to war is very bookish and too structured. He would’ve been a great general if his enemies were orthodox and traditional, but he’s against Great minds like Horus, Fulgrim and Konrad Curze .
I find it funny that Warhammer could potentially be a funny sitcom about a dysfunctionally family and how their personalities were shaped by the varying foster homes they grew in. Perturabo would be the workaholic tech genius who pushes people away because he never learned how to socialize with others. If only someone could see through his cold and harsh facade there was a man longing for the love he heard in the works of fiction he read.
At long last, my favorite traitor legion. Unlike the fools that actually worship those four reality tumors, they still take this war seriously. Then again, they take everything way too seriously.
The Word Bearers are the only group that poses a legitimate threat to the Imperium, due to knowing every syllable of the Imperial Book of Religion. They can and will incite a civil war.
@@bryanbarcelo5440 Good point that ol Pert never considered it wasn't just him that went unnocticed. Not sure if the Khan ever cared about being on the sidelines, but Magnus definitely resented being singled out for being a Psyker and Konrad despised the hypocrisy of everyone calling him a monster when he was doing to messy jobs The Emperor would never send the "Proper" Legions to do. Alpharius also got treated like crap because of his subtle way of waging war (though as with everything involving the Alpha Legion, whether he genuinely resented being unnoticed or this was a cover for one of his plans, we don't know.) Perturabo and the Iron Warrior's fates would have been far better if he just learned a little empathy for once.
Not even their Traitor allies would respect the poor Fourth. When digging the trenches at Istvaan V, an Emperor's Children remarked to a Son of Horus, "why aren't we making the Iron Warriors do this?" No thanks for a thankless job, such is their lot in life
I had thought of the night lords as my favourite traitor legion, their sheer sadistic efficiency made them unusual amongst the traitors. But the Iron Warriors have taken the spot. They're almost like the working class of the Astartes- uncared for by their betters, forgotten and accepted as merely expendable manpower to do the dirty work. All they have left to fuel them is their iron will, and I respect and identify with them. If I were to be an Astartes, I'd want to be an iron warrior before anything else. *Iron within. Iron without.*
The great thing about the Iron Cage was that no matter how it turned out once the Fists had decided to crack it the Iron Warriors had already won. If the Fists attack and fail to break through, great, proves they were better than those braggarts at siegecraft _and_ fortifications. But the way it really went down was far better. The Fists got to experience the constant grinding misery of siege warfare in order to finally break through, and suffer horrendous losses in the process, and after all that pain and misery and sacrifice what do they have to show for it? Nothing. I can just imagine the smug, spiteful daemonic Perturabo walking up to the battered and drained Dorn and whispering in his ear "How does it feel?" Ironically there was one way the Fists could have won, not only negating the intended goal of the Iron Cage in bleeding them white, but in demonstrating a kind of low-key strength that the Iron Warriors never understood. The strength to say no. After all it was an obvious trap, and would require multiple legions to effectively crack open, and that spiteful c**t Perturabo was almost certainly not in the centre of it. Better to leave them all guarding it like a prison of their own making than have them rampaging around the Imperium. The only legion who would willingly throw away their lives for no good cause was one that was too weak to face the fact of their own basic needs as human beings, like the Iron Warriors.
I think many misunderstand why the Iron Cage was undertaken. Dorn was insane with fury at his own failure to protect his father. He did not seek to win, to contain the Iron Warriors, or to even show strength. He sought exclusively, to the detriment of his legion and himself, to kill traitors. Of course it was a trap. The Fists went into it anyway, because it meant being able to kill traitors. Of course Perturabo wasn't there. But there were traitors there, and they needed to be killed. Of course it would cost hundreds of space marines to kill those traitors. But no sacrifice was deemed unacceptable if it meant killing more traitors. Others may claim that nothing was gained from entering the Iron Cage, but the Fists will point to the dead traitors and be happy with that. This is why the Fists led the scouring, why the Fists went wherever there were traitors, wherever the fighting was thickest, and killed them. In time immemorial both the Fists and Ultramarines accepted the walking dead from the two missing legions. But after the scouring the Ultramarines alone accepted loyalists from the traitor legions. Because until the Iron Cage the Fists were inconsolably mad with rage, and even after the Iron Cage those Fists who were completely unable to go back to normal were split off into their own chapter, the Black Templars, and sent out into the galaxy to continue the great work of killing traitors.
@@ZeroNumerous Of course, it does not matter, given that 70% of the legion is gone, because the fists are always immersed in glorious dreams full of honor and pride.
@@ZeroNumerous The thing is, this underplays it a bit and making it seem more akin to an intended outcome, well yes one could argue that considering the stakes and emotional wreckage that dorn himself was certainly affected by. Emotional distability that mr peter turbo over here use very much so to his advantage, branching off from the main comment Yes, the only way they could've won was by literally just saying No and leaving them be yet they charged, because Peturabo knows Dorn couldn't simply just say no, not without dorn's pride being at stake and especially not after dorn himself announcing that "He would haul Perturabo back to terra in an iron cage" Now I ask you this would that proclamation, that statement would be spoken out so loudly by someone _not_ intending to win? Besides even if it was a lie that couldn't simply be considering what Alpharius said about dorn and the fact that the man "Never lies" besides his stubborness as well. It's practically nigh impossible, the breaking of the emperor might've even driven him to be more stubborn and defiant to catch this petulant man child and his barely notable legion. Now, given what we know of dorn, is he _really_ the type to give up in such a way
Honestly, Iron Warriors and the Alpha Legion are my favorite traitors. Iron Warriors for just spitting in the face of the chaos gods and going " No. I don't need your help, filth. " and Alpha Legion for their: " Victory at any cost. Even being called traitors. "
I like to personally think that Perturabo didn’t actually become a Daemon prince, but used the sacrificed gene seed to “trick” the chaos gods into giving him power he used to siphon into a powered suit, making it basically a super obliterator. Think it fits his character more ;)
Ill be honest, the Iron Warriors are by far my favorite Traitor Astartes Legion, the reason they rebelled was well justified, and they look friggin amazing! They dont worship any chaos god which keeps them looking like just renegade astartes with some twisted parts here and there...nothing over the top like bloated ugly bellies of the death guard or weird symbols and tattoes like slaanesh or tzeench followers They are the type of villains you kinda feel bad for. Kinda wish they stayed loyal and swapped places with the Iron Hands. But oh well
Was listening to "salve Regina" in Latin gregorian chant then lo and behold the god emperor send me his piece of wisdom and his protection Ave imperator! Ave lord baldemort!
This is what I was looking for... When Barbaras Dantioch gets "Hrudded" (hit with an aging energy from the Hrudd) and Perturabo makes fun of him, strips him of his rank, exiles him... And Dantioch, looking all old and shriveled up... Just carries on as a leader and warsmith, and still kind of admires Perturabo...!!! Iron within, Iron without...
he actually questioned pertys way of fighting the hrud, which wasn’t very good, as they just bum rushed in, which was a very reasonable question, to barnabys credit
The Iron Warriors were wasted on the tasks assigned to them, as was Perturabo for being made a warlord instead of an inventor. Both could have been so much more. So much better.
@@funnycreature2331 That is not representative of anything. Perturabo was brought before the Tyrant-King of a military state and asked to make himself useful. Of course he would forge a sword. What else could they have so easily judged? Dammekos may have liked Perturabo in his own way, but make no mistake; he tried to manipulate him from beginning to end. As for everything else, did you see any custom-made weapons in Perturabo's sanctum ever like with Vulcan? Models, yes. Drawings, yes. Gadgets, yes. Tools, certainly. No weapons. In his safe space, where no-one could judge him, Perturabo didn't make war. He chose peace. Why does everyone ignore that? His perfect world is Literally a peaceful, happy city. He can't lie inside his own head you know. He truly, deeply wanted peace. The only thing he wanted more than peace was to be useful, and both his dads were in need of generals. No more, No less. Being Perturabo, of course, he refused to compromise and then got angry when refusing to compromise made him miserable, passed blame on to anyone else, and basically was his own worst enemy. But he never wanted war. If there is one thing he is consistent with, it is that.
I'd like to think that the emperor would have let the primarchs do more than just war after conquering the galaxy, so they could expand the imperiums' culture to hights comparable to the zenith of humanity.
I love them, they are the cold and emotionless counterpart to our firebrand religious fervor. Two sides to the same scorned and tossed aside Imperial coin.
Poor Perturabo, I don't think anybody appreciated him, including himself. Happiness comes from internal factors, not external ones. I have done humanitarian work in the Philippines, people as poor as imaginable yet happy with their families and farms. Maybe Perturabo should have spent a decade farming rice.
@Deathcoldan I've seen this countless of times, Im from the Philippines myself. The one's that show too much eagerness tend to take advantage, and the few that needed actual help the most are usually out of reach. Though all of them wishes no harm, they just (from what I usually see)hoped to have a better meal with your support that day/time. They wish no ill to anyone, because social pressure and/or labeling cuts deeper and leaves a lasting mark than the horrendous act they wish to do to someone.
@The serpent must die True, I should not paint everything as so. Though, I really wish they find peace in their hearts wishing not to inflict harm to others. Looking at our situation as it is, i really dont want furthermore tragedy adding to the list that's looking more negative than positive.
@@samaepl please do, only left about 100 who swore to Luther so... Listen to Baldemorts video Dark Angels - most effective Legion and you'll get the picture how we hunt. Who fucks IF, they are not Legion we have some strong bonds with except we are loyalist, tell me, when we had bromance with them? Lego builders and masochistic Legion (pain glove, khm khm). That decimation punishment was rough beyond belief. As a Roman history buff, I found it’s use not reasonable nor useful. It never brought loyalty but fear.
Can you imagine baldemort with his child at night? "Dad, can you read me a story?" Baldemort:"very well, gentle listener, i will be your humble servant for tonight, and i will tell you of a fairy tail as old as they may get, yet still beloved... the story of snow white"
I've always found the Iron Warriors interesting. I have just recently gotten into the table top game, something I credit towards you, and already my mind is racing with ideas. I intend to make a Homebrew Chapter with successors from Iron Warriors who remained Loyal, some people who are more knowledgeable of the lore assure me that it's plausible, and I can hardly wait to get started. I call them the Iron Souls, and their mantra is "No Redemption, Only Duty."
Welcome to the great game/hobby brother. You’ll love it! :). A good question. If Primaris? Doddle - Cawl lies to Roboute as we knew he would. If astartes? I definitely think that works. But at the end of the day, they will be YOUR army. You do your thing. :).
Iron Warriors are my favourite Chapter, especially the chunky Heresy-Era Astartes in their Mark III and Cataphractii armour. Love the aesthetic, the tactics, and Barbos Dantioch is an absolute chad.
That's an interesting take, Iron Warriors being a Mirror to Ultramarines. But having a better understanding of their history makes sense as to why the Iron Warriors broke up into Warbands.
The iron warriors a legion who has known nothing pain and sacrifice brothers dying in the thousands they deserve more respect from the God emperor. I can get a better idea of why they turn traitors. All the pain and resentment with no respect for their sacrifice. Their story is truly fitting for grim darkness of the far future. Thank you brother Baldermort for honor these fallen heros and giving them the respect they deserve.
That the imperium lost such a great legion is a tragedy of Olympic proportions. What is even worse is how those they bemoan their dwindling knowledge and depleted numbers. So taken for granted were the Iron Warriors the Imperium does not even recognise they lost the only legion that could endure such a challenge. It is not difficult to imagine a certain Magos Dominus would seek to exploit such a stable genetic template if only he could!
I've been waiting with bated breath for this day. The wonderful Baldermort presents the Iron Warriors. My favorite renegade the chapter, and the one chapter I confused with the Iron Hands when I got into 40K. I do hope you'll cover the Night Lords in the future as well, they're another renegade chapter I have a soft spot for. Thank you once again Balder!
He saw humans. Above all, he saw humans. He saw unique, brilliant lives brimming with potential... and then he marched them off to the killing fields because the Imperium came first, emotions and guilt second. He was never a monster. It would have been far easier if he was though.
IRON AND WRATH! BRING FORTH THE ARMORED THUNDER! LET THE STEEL LIGHTNING FALL UPON THEM! WAR COMES, IN FIRE, STORM AND RAGE! TREMBLE, FOR THE 4TH COMES FOR YOU! IRON AND WRATH!
Well, there was this one fortress ,in a huge asteroid,i think? Where a company of LOYAL Iron warriors held off a army of heretical Iron Warriors and there allies, and the heretics had a imperator Titan, and yet the LOYAL warriors of Iron, held the fortress for a looooooong time, and they heretics lost the Titan as well. I think a few loyal Iron warriors made it out,the commander to,by teleporter.
The Silver Skulls are speculate by fans to be descendants of the Iron Warriors, despite officially being categorized as Ultramarine successors. This is due to a similarity in color scheme, chapter symbol and combat speciality (Siege warfare). Plus their gene-seed records are listed as being 'inconclusive' by the Adeptus Mechanicus and under investigation by the Ordo Hereticus. Heck, Sarah Cawkwell, author of the Silver Skulls book series, has stated that yes the chapter was founded by Barabas Dantioch's Iron Warriors, who were adopted by the Ultramarines.
I like the Iron Warriors because they put hazard stripes on their shoulder pads. It's like they're saying "We may be villainous traitors that dabble with daemonic forces but we still going to comply with OSHA standards"
When mentioning the Traitor Legions, it's said that 9 Legions sided with Horus. But 1/3 of the Traitor Legions were made up of Loyalist. So would it be safe to say that as far as numbers go the Traitors were fighting as 6 Legions with 9 Generals?
I was not a big fan of the iron warriors but this shows me that they are one that I would want on my side and to never make them feel as a tool or they will turn me into one.
Perturabo the engineer of War who wanted to be the architect of peace. His dreams called to him but he decided that the only way for him to be allowed to build in peace was to make peace, the only way to make peace was to end war and the only way to end war was to win.
Imperial Fists=the last defenders of Terra, golden boiz, the 2nd best golden host in the Imperium Iron Warriors=basically guardsmen but better armor and can dig trenches faster this post was made by independent researchers from Terra
@@lacarthcinclair5401 right lmaoo, i could only imagine that the black templars would be right on board with krieg astartes. Plus most of them are already about 15 when they first see combat so it could work and they are trained from birth to fight and die for the emperor. I honestly believe GW is just too lazy to do it.
These "Guardsmen" raped Imperial Fists so many times that those golden asslickers no longer exists for the most part and their Primarch is gone. Meanwhile Iron Bois are doing great. They are probably going to Hydra Cordatus for the third time cause Dorn Bois developed Stockholm syndrome there.
I just wanted to say, this has to be some of best work brother Baldermort. The audiodrama explaining the Decimation was one of the best bits of Great Crusade writing I think I've ever experienced, I loved that the Lieutenant was ultimately thankful for his decimation because the commander was right, he would not have had the stomach for what came next. Thank you for exploring one of the most important of all legions, as it is their fall that I think is most telling. The Iron Warriors more than anything fought the real Crusade: they're the ones storming the ramparts, taking the blows and never bowing to the foe. And yet, they fell. To me the Iron Warriors fall is one of the most tragic, as more than any of the heretic legions it is their blood that built the Imperium that they now seek to destroy. People see Perturabo and his sons as weak willed and have the gall to call them petulant! That couldn't be further from the truth, there is no force in the Imperium of the Great Crusade that sacrificed more than the Iron Warriors, and for their efforts and the efforts of their father they recieved nothing but scorn and not the respect they deserved.
"Iron Within, Iron Without" Such a simple yet profound description. But what no one seems to take into account, something that every single smith who's worked with iron, cast iron or cold forged iron, is that iron is brittle. No matter how hard you make iron if hit hard enough, if you strike it enough times...it...will...BREAK. The garrison duties, the bloody insurrections, the internecine rebellions. All in silent, uncomplaining muteness, because anything else would be "weakness". Instead of being tempered the Iron Warriors were hardened. Hardened again and again until all give, flexibility, dare I say "softness" was forged out of them. Until the day when the only one who could speak for them instead broke them with but a single word; decimation. Yes, the tale of the Iron Warriors is a tragic one, and their complaints and grudges are not without merit nor justification, but in the end they still broke. As all iron does when you hit it hard enough. "Iron Within, Iron Without"
One day, Perturabo shall come back and reforge the Iron Warriors into a legion once more. And that day, the Imperium of Man shall tremble in fear, to the sound of relentless, unstoppable tide of iron and blood.
Perturabo is most frequently compared to Dorn, but he has things in common with a few of his brothers: - He shares Dorn's stubbornness and affinity for architecture, both military and civil. - He devotes himself to crafting, enjoying the act of working metal just as much Vulkan. - He loves to read, like Magnus, and enjoys the study of history and the arts. - He shares Guilliman's love of statecraft, and dreamt of making Olympia a paradise for scholars and craftsmen. - He has a strong sense of justice and honour, like Curze, as well as a very changeable personality. If the Chaos Gods hadn't set Perturabo's personality off-kilter from the start, he could easily have been the greatest of his brothers... and yet he ended up joining the very beings who cursed and doomed him. That is one of the greatest tragedies - and ironies - of the 40k setting.
It is interesting to see how traitors like the iron warriors, word bearers, night lords, and world eaters have somehow passed on their rather negative traits to the imperium whole, to where even successor chapters are more like the traitors than their predecessors.
This is great as always, and though I appreciate the attempt to make it cool, the decimation of the Iron Warriors will forever be the stupidest, most grimderp thing of the HH. He went from being a bright boy to a despot within one shuttle ride. On flight movie must have really sucked.
I personally decide to ignore the decimation. I love Peter and the iron warriors but it's hard to go into and focus on the turbo when he decides "hey let's just kill a large population on this stubborn and though weak currently, durable and strong legion, they deffenetly won't resent me or decide to assainate me after they decide that I shouldn't be in charge."
Had the best ad break ever "as the younger astartes looked down, he said" *add break jingle with upbeat music* thankyou for being a friend *music continues* thankyou for being a friend* Was extremely confused but also very amused
I find it strange that the fans of the imperial Fists decry the acts of Perturabo for his brutality towards his men, such as in his decimation. It’s strange because they will also argue that Dorn wasn’t equally at fault if not more so when it came to the iron cage. He fed his men into a meat grinder and refused to retreat when all logic would dictate that nothing was to be gained by continuing all for the purpose of... not feeling guilt. At least Perturabo done it to harden his legion, Dorn done it because he felt sad because the emperor almost died. Hypocrites. Iron Within brothers.
@@georgestauber2636 That's like saying "Oh Hitler attacked the Soviets in winter because He knows how much germany would technological advance in the future" You're simply spinning it too hard, And here I thought the Alpha legion was the liars, smh
If the Imperial Fists had been used for garrison duty and the Iron Warriors had been more upon the front line and got some more praise from Daddy Emperor, would they still have turned?
My friend to me: *"I want to paint my marines into iron warriors"* Me: "Why's that?" My friend to me: *"They have a pretty cool primarch"* Also me: "Who hurt you boy?"
Perturabo always hated that he and his legion never received the recognition he saw as their due. Now their very existence is suppressed and buried with great prejudice. Never to hear their praise. Their achievements only known by a few enemies and the dead. Perturabo is likely still pouting to this day.
Brothers !!! IRON WITHIN !!!!!!! I have been waiting for this brother Baldermort, and as usual you more than surpass my expectations. Your the best and one of us, we won't forget it.
The best and the most interesting traitor legion as well as the primarch. Many say Parturabo was just bitter and spiteful but who wouldn't get upset, when nobody acknowledged the artistry of skill that one puts into their craftsmanship. I'd be upset as well. Not that I blame Dorn but occasionally diplomatic answers are just the best options.
Parturabo also called for his sons to brutally kill eachother just because he didn't think they were good enough. I don't think he has any right to feel bad about not getting a pat on the back.
@@no_one01-5 Literally a bunch of other legions did just fine without cracking their own heads lol. Actually many of them did better as now their traitors being the toys and puppets of Gods lol.
And I thought today was good just because it's a Saturday. But now...Now, by the grace of the God Emperor, I enjoy yet another Baldermort production. Truly, it is now a great day. Cheers lore master Baldermort!
How the hell are you so god damn good? You are the best narrator that I have ever heard. I listen to historical podcasts every day and you could speak rings around anyone sir.
I found your channel the other week and I have been loving to been watch your work. While I don’t play the tabletop I’ve been loving the lore. Keep up the great work and you have more than earned my sub!
Nah, the Krieg soldier returns with a new shovel as a living saint that he will then use to splatter heretics and dig trenches like an absolute unit and becomes a hero of the imperium but wants to die 😂
@Ban this youtube Cadian Admiral: “General 4258, mind telling me what your doing on that ship with a powershovel heading into the eye of terror?” Kriegsman: “Sir, getting ready to die.”
This was beautiful. The 4th are probably the most practical of the traitor forces. They use what they have and work efficiently. They don't mess around with ostentatious livery. A simple black and yellow chevron pattern as a warning to any that draw near. Grand, now I've the inspiration to paint up a small force of these walking weapons. Time to order fresh paint brushes...and more leadbelcher spray.
And that's why the Alpha Legion is my favorite everything I just heard iron within indeed. The Alpha Legion were despised and criticized and like the iron warriors it drove them forward. Unlike the iron warriors the sneaky ones valued even the non astartes agents were both valued preserved extracted and given a voice and role in planning and execution of operations. Also like the iron warriors the alpha legion themselves are not technically chaos marines themselves. Some probably are but like the iron warriors who are traitors who oppose chaos as well considering it a weakness the Alpha legion are traitors who may be loyalists though some alphas became chaos marines. They seem like perfect opposites.
100% true story: re-listening to this while shaving, had the volume cranked up to hear it in my bathroom. At the 20:40 mark when the Captain tells him to speak, all of a sudden I hear "Arby's 2 for $5 snack attack"... damned commercials!!
I figure if I had to be a Chaos Marine, I'd rather be an Iron Warrior than any other. Man, I love me some War Machines. Not a giant Perturabo fan but they are a bitchin' army.
the true meaning of "iron within, iron without" is i need a hug please love me :( *Hugs the iron warrior*. The imperium and by extension the emperor failed the Iron Warriors made them feel unwanted and unloved and everyone needs love. They ironed their hearts because the love they gave in service was not returend and they were tired of getting hurt. They are a legion of tragedy on the scale of the thousand sons and magnus.
Fun fact about the Iron Warriors: They do not engage in ritual summoning of Daemonic forces onto battlefields. Instead, they use them like fuel in the machines of war that they craft. THEN they bring them onto the battlefield!
Such as in the Imperium assumed it was to attain demon-hood while in reality Perturabo merely wished to grind Dorn and his legion through the dirt all for the sake of malice.
Well it hints at a 5th power in chaos. Or that he is becoming his own. There is a story of the Iron Warriors using the techno virus to adapt a tyranid hive ship to their cause. Which is still the scariest thing to me and was a big influence in my old army.
Perturabo becoming a daemon primarch makes perfect sense though. Yes, it doesn't fit in with the rest of the Legion, and that's the point. The Iron Warriors HATE Perturabo. He disgusts them, and decimated them for failures. Perturabo has, as always, sacrificed others for his own benefit. And the Iron Warriors suffer for it.
Yet again Baldermort, you do one of my favourite legions justice! Splendid job sir, good form. Black Library really do need to pay heed and hire you for some audio books.
Much like the Iron Hands, my favorite, and most neglected Traitor Legion in the lore. Thank you! You are also the first RU-vidr to get me into Raid Shadow Legends you buttery voiced seducer.
