I genuinely hope Irvine makes it out alive somehow. Or at least does something heroic before he goes. There's always been a feeling of goodness in him compared to other Apostles. He doesn't boast about his strength, he doesn't kill needlessly, he doesn't rape, and he stays alone. Not only that but he actually goes out of his way to help some people. Plus, he has a kickass design. Both human and Apostle form.
dont hope that much bud, in the end of the day, he's an apostle, he must have done something fuck up in his previous life, he might be reform, but im sure he deserve to die somehow :'(
I totally agree. He’s the only one that I’ve gotten an inkling of “good” from. Maybe good isn’t the right word but from what I’ve seen of him I’ve felt that he’s the only one that might not be completely evil.
Theory: He was once a hunter and had comrades but his closest companion is a hunting dog. During a hunt, he was badly wounded by a wild beast and was abandoned by his comrades. In his despair, his behelit activates and he chose to sacrifice his loyal hunting dog to become an apostle.
No respectable man would sacrifice his dog. He probably had a nagging wife he really loved and a good boy dog, and his dog was in danger from dangerous prey and to protect his pup he sacrificed his wife. Wifes are a dime a dozen. Good bois, are not. 🤣
One of my thoughts was that Irvine's beast portion wasn't his hunting pet but rather his final prey as a human. I imagined that the beast was something terrorizing a region and Irvine came along to hunt it. It may have even killed a young girl who was close to him in his human life, that might even be why he went from being a musician to being a hunter. When hunting the beast, it starts to get the better of him and he is mortally wounded. As the beast sets in on him, his blood flows into the behelit and his sacrifce, the thing that mattered most to him was this ultimate prey (feelings of revenge). The very creature that is killing him is branded and becomes part of his demonic transformation. He can never truly hunt this hated prey and he must live with the guilt of what it, now his other half, has done causing him to further isolate. This also makes him ideal for keeping the other demons in check, he has a desire to protect people from beasts.
It's a good theory. Major apostles in Griffiths new army were mostly heroic figures who lived honorable lives and became subjects of legends(cought except Rackshas). That's why I thinks its extremely fitting.
@@spellcastergeorgamesh2522 no my friend you are wrong bc he looks JUS ALIKE A NUCKELAVEE😂I think u saying this to start conflict bc it was just a retarded thing to say
I've always seen Irvine as a fusion of Prince Ashitaka and Link! With the stoic nature and easy beheadings of his foes with one blow, this guy is a valuable alley to any army!
I understand Irvine deeply. I am a hunter. My entire youth was spent in the mountains and forests. Running among the predators and prey. I would lose myself for days in those forests. Totally isolated and fully at peace. I would take game and fish. Eat what I could shoot, catch and gather. I miss those times.
I think Irvine may have been a contract hunter in his past life. Like he would hunt invasive and dangerous species like Trolls. Then one day he either took on more than he could handle or maybe was contracted to hunt a apostle. I don’t think his sacrifice was a lover but rather a assistant or apprentice like Isidro is to Guts.
I think irivine came from a family of hunters from a small town. As a young boy, he admired the hunters from his village or guild. Maybe he got a behelit from an older brother or a great hunter as a gift and put it around his trusted wolf hound pup's neck. He then must have followed the great hunters from his village who were tracking a deadly beast and saw it ambush the hunters and kill them. It then set its eyes on him, chasing him for fun, terrorizing him day and night cause it knew he wasn't a threat. Being tired , hungry, and wounded was found by the village and was taken back. That night, he must have heard the beast attack the village and out of despair , anger, and fear the behelit awoke.
That wouldn't explain why he wants to hunt alone, or finds such reverence in hunting... After that i would actually be disgusted by hunting. I think his wish was a bit more... grounded, something about becoming a perfect hunter. Or even the story of robinhood reimangined with a dark twist.
i like the idea that he had hunting hounds and as a traveling minstrel hunting was a way to provide for himself. as a tip for playing a tune one night at an inn perhaps someone offered him a behelit as they had nothing else. probably had beautiful eyes. and perhaps one day when hunting he was confronted by those who owned the land and they took his eyes as a punishment and then his behelit activates.
It's both...Most English speakers will go with Band of the Hawk first because that's what the majority of translations say. But Falcon is interchangeable in Japanese...
I dunno why, but Irvine genuinely seems like a rare "neutral" Apostle. I mean, yeah he does mention that he spends all his time hunting and given he's a demon we can only assume that means humans as well as animals, but he never expresses malice and even has a few moments of care when he has no reason to. Even his design leans more into that of a fantasy creature than a lovecraftian monstrosity like most Apostles. Plus, based on what we know of Zod, Grunbeld ,Locus and even Rakhsas, Apostles with no desire to *eat* humans and just prefer minding their own business isn't unheard of. Now, don't get me wrong, it could just be that we haven't seen much of him. The dude is still an Apostle. He sacrificed someone or something that meant a lot to him to crack open his heart and let *pure evil* flood in. Its how these guys are *made* . So its impossible to say whether he has ulterior motives or not.
You know his apostle form almost looks like devil man in the face and upper body it’s definitely not a one for one but it’s oddly similar in an almost uncanny valley sort of way which doesn’t help because he does look so damn cool especially compared to everything els we’ve seen in berserk never feels like a single character didn’t have years of thought and detail go into their designs and I love it so much 😁
It's also possible that his deepest despair was losing his sight.....And apostlehood gave him back his eye and ability to hunt, at the cost of his humanity and a hunting companion. He is a beast that hunts alone.
They are not completely twisted and evil. No one truly is, but if they let that evil consume them, they cannot be redeemed. The door to hell locked from the inside after all. Someone who embraced evil (became an apostle) would doubtfully wanna be a good person out of nowhere.
The interesting thing about Irvine is that his use of a bow and his apostle form being a union of stag and wolf could very well be an allusion to the archers who conquered under the leadership of Genghis Khan. Folklore states that the Khan was born of the union of a stag and a wolf and the Mongols were renowned for their horse-mounted archery skills, similar to Irvine's apostle form. Just food for thought.
Always thought he has a mask on. Lacking pupils and never changing expression feels weird otherwise. The emperor catches him on the rooftop he panics but his face doesn't show any emotion?
What if Irvine, someone close to him, and his pet were setup/ambushed and irvine gets injured losing his eyes and his dog got mortally wounded which broke Irvine and hearing his dog whimpering as it was dying activated his behelit and Irvine sacrificed the human he was close with to save his dog which then saves his life as a hunter by becoming his new eye (the dog not being an acceptable sacrifice because it defines his darkness and animalistic nature more than his humanity)
Not really seeing where you're getting "minstrel" from his outfit. Minstrels were far from the only people who wore jackets with puffed sleeves, and the rest of his gear - a bycocket (commonly associated with the bowman, Robin Hood), a bracer on his left arm, plain tights, and long boots - are far more evocative of a hunter.
I want a arc with villain apostles of berserk just the main ones and I want guts to fight the apostate that ate his arm and it is reveal to us that all this time his left arm hurt because it became a phantom limb but when he kill the apostle his left arm doesn’t hurt anymore.
saying a composite sketch is the wrong phrase "you can get an idea of who they were prior to becoming an apostle" this is the proper phrasing the way you say it makes me think your gonna draw them human at the end
I get really annoyed by the weird electronic whistle sound you have in the background. It sounds distant and comes out of nowhere for no rhyme or reason. Please choose a different background music.
Not giving guns a run for their money especially since literally anyone can use them with little experience 🤣😂 especially if he got hit with a 30 mm he's not going to keep going 😐
Band of the falcon? Tf are you talking about? Its the band of the hawk and griffith is the hawk of light not falcon smfh you say it sooo much in the video too it drove me nuts haha
