I finished medical school in May 1995. I really enjoyed my 4th year by doing rotations that I may not see again. My medical school required that I do a rotation in med/ped and a surgical rotation during my 4th year. I knew by the end of my 3rd year I wanted to do Peds so I did one month of general Peds as my medicine month and Peds Surgery month for my surgical month. I did dermatology which really helped me in my future career in Peds since we see a lot of rashes. I did a month of Radiology which I knew would help me read x-rays in pediatrics. I also did a month of Pathology because I knew I would never see pathology again. I believe in most medical schools all of your rotations in 4th year are either pass/fail, and not a GPA weighted grade like 3.6 in neurology or adult medicine as in your 3rd year of medical school.
Hi Dr. Mazur, I am enrolled in the SMP at KCU this fall. I am in a similar situation as you a few years ago. Would you be able to meet and give a few pointers how you were able to succeed in this program?
