Is a $150 Camera AWFUL or AMAZING? | Canon EOS M W/ Magic Lantern Review 

I didn't claim the camera as a whole was awful actually. In fact, I got this camera purely for it's regular recording options. The flat picture profile along with high bit rate recording really make this a somewhat capable b-cam, especially for the price. It matches my T7i somewhat well and my A7ii to a lesser degree. I think the RAW capabilities are absolutely not worth it though. There is the previously mentioned atrocious workflow, along with how much you have to fiddle with this camera just to get what I consider mediocre footage. If you know what you're getting into, this is certainly a capable camera, however, if you're looking at reviews on youtube, you almost certainly will not know what you're getting into. I could not possibly suggest this camera to someone unless they know exactly what they are getting and how it will, or won't in many cases, work. That is the point of this video. It is the EOS M from a regular consumer's prospective. Not a pro who wants to fiddle around with settings more than they want to actually shoot video. I appreciate the criticism. But, I think you're attacking me without fully understanding my point. I hope this clears things up.

I watched the whole video ... appreciate the effort ... but you came off little whiny there ... it’s a sub$200 camera and that punches above it’s weight class (IMO), especially with magic lantern

The EOS m along with the 650d and 700d have the digic 5 cpu that allows for higher write speeds for raw videos

Sorry for my ignorance, but I couldn't actually find a way to do this. Could you link me to a specific video or tell me? Even using Canon's website I could not find a way to adjust the ISO on the fly without using the touch screen

@@aChairLeg it's in the custom settings. Put the camera in manual mode, go to menu an you should see the custom menu on one of the last two tabs.

Those small mirrorless cameras are the only good value products made by Canon. With Magic Lantern they are absolute beasts, while the bigger DSLR are just expensive toys with missing features...only so Canon can sell more of their C-series cameras.

The m is fun to use and no stress as it fits in a pocket. If rather use that than a big DSLR. With correct light and a good lens the m can hold its own against the big boys. See my Lapland aurora time lapse made with the m the images were a lot better than I expected

@@Shooting-Up I know, I've tried an M50 and it was great...but the 5D III I used to shoot videos of 3 years was a complete disaster. I've switched to a GH5 now, and I miss the DOF a little when taking stills, but it's the absolute best in terms of image quality, DR and colour accuracy when shooting video :)

@@Albanez39 doesn't matter how good a camera is, if it feels like a brick around my neck and attracts people's attentions wherever I go I won't be using it.

@@Shooting-Up Agreed. Plus, I live in a poor and corrupted developing country (Albania). Average monthly wage is $300 and people think cameras cost as much as houses :P

Nah it's not that complicated if you have basic knowledge of cameras and editing software
