I can confirm this works with an Xbox Series X/S for 120 fps. You need to go to the "video fidelity & overscan" settings and change "overrides" to HDMI instead of automatic. You can then change the resolution and refresh rate to 1080p and 120Hz.
Yeah the guy making this video seems to be a total noob. I also seen the monitor seems to support FreeSync in the options. Wonder if it also supports 4k downsampling internally. Nothing the guy tried in the video. There is this video also which tells how you force stuff with the xbox: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gR9WZXbUUq0.html
I didn’t know either, lmao. I’ve been looking for all sorts of ways to use a larger screen for steamdeck at work. Thought I could do it with iPad but it isn’t setup to receive video, only output. Tried my laptop, same problem and I don’t want to have to hook up a capture card and a dock and a separate charger for steamdeck and my laptop charger, too much cordage.
despite not liking the product yourself, you've convinced me to buy it (especially since at the time of writing this it was on sale for $120 for me), sign of a great reviewer.
I just bought the monitor and actually found the solution. you need to FORCE hdmi signal I'm advanced video settings. it will then swap to 480p, then go back and select 120hz refresh rate. Boom, freesync is unavailable but you still got the 120hz refresh rate 💯
I've had lots of issues with here monitors from stuck/dead pixels to screen bleed and blotchy white spots on 5 different ones. Finally went with a little more well known brand view sonic and arrived perfectly.
I bought this same monitor for my Steam Deck recently. Though I wasn’t able to go more than 60hz in SteamOS, I was able to do so in Desktop Mode, just gotta adjust the display settings and increase it to 144hz.
Have you tried running games at 1080p 144hz without plugging it in externally (just using the SteamDeck to power both)? How fast does it eat the SteamDeck battery? could it last at least 80min?
I have a 100hz monitor but when I apply the setting then go on tf2 in game mode for example and look to see the hz info 4 mode and it stills shows 60hz
Well Russ here is another review you have done that has led to me buying a product. I'm very happy with it and a year on got it alot cheaper on Amazon UK. Ideal just as a second screen for my laptop and for podcast notes🤘
So the same thing happened with my 4k 120Hz TV. I have both the Series S and Series X, and for both the Xboxs said that my TV is not capable of those outputs. I had to go to the Xbox's display settings and reset everything to default, and then select a resolution mode. By default, the Xbox tries to output at the highest resolution possible which in most cases will hinder its refresh rate. Sometimes you have to choose the "I want 120Hz and I do not care if it is 1080p" option.
@@martindescoteaux9288 yeah, i used a 2.1 cable in the hdmi 2.1 port. I literally just had to adjust my xbox settings because with new TVs it auto outputs at some weird resolution until you change it
Just switch screen option on XBOX to just HDMI - > then to 1080P and the refresh rate 120HZ will be an option and then you are good to go with 120 HZ. Other option is higher resolution but then refresh goes to 60 HZ, but 120 hz is an option 100% on XBOX s/x.
This is great! I have a ps5, already use it on 120 and 144hz displays, but not for my in bed setup (yes I move my ps5 around a lot). And I also have a dual monitor 144hz laptop setup, looking to expand to a third
How do you get the PS5 to find 120 fps and 144hz display? Did you use a different HDMI and power adapter/cord that's not the ones that came with the monitor?
@@caliking6717 hmm. I’m gonna clarify myself. I can only use 1 display at a time on PS5, like everyone else. I have an HDMI 2.1 cable that connects from the PS5 to my TV or monitor. Then, I can enable 120fps in the PS5 settings. I do not have a portable monitor so my only power source is from the typical wall outlets. - using the same power cables that shipped with each product.
if you have portable PC (like Beelink, minisforum, topton) you will actually achieve laptop-like solution with such portable monitor. The huge bonus of the miniPC over the laptop is the full set of outputs (which otherwise can be cured with docking station i.e. $250 i.e. notsogood). So for MiniPC it is easier to get a normal fullsize PC videocard in use (with normal PSU of course) ... as result in your place you have fully functional PC, but you can bring it somewhere just like laptop. Almost, but yeah. Another big (+) nowadays (super high electricity prices) is: you can use the miniPC when browsing/filming/etc and turn on the full power only when gaming. Which stands for 20-50W most of the time. Coz gaming laptop (with additional videochip) and full desktop PC can't go under 150W actually ... even when browsing the modern browsers are using the videocard, so it consumes power all the time ... All in all, we are living in interesting times, hehe. Thz for the vid, I am considering a 4K display from this company.
Connecting an Atari VCS (2021 PC) to this would be fantastic. I play Dreamcast on my Atari VCS every day. This monitor and my Atari in a little bag for work trips would be sweet!
I'd love to see you test this with a walksnail hd system. I'm in the market for a monitor I can use for others to watch my fpv flights, live. The goggles/vVRX can output up to 120hz. Powering it by ac/DC isn't an issue, just having a nice display that will simply display the 1080p/120/90/60fps output from the VRX
I got a 108p 60hz portable monitors and overlclocked it to 66hz, nothing close to 144hz but still really nice for the money. Oh yeah it was 99$ Cad which im guessing is like 70$ USD.
you need to get a hdmi adapter that tricks the console into thingking it has a compatible 120hz monitor connected, then 120hz will work on series s and the deck
I just bought this monitor and I can get 144Hz to work on HDMI using the supplied cables. I Use a 150w GAN charger and a 100w rated hub. The menu on the monitor says it's pulling 12v from the PD while at 1920x1080@144Hz. However, I cannot get USBC video to work with either USBC hub. Not even after giving it 1 USBC as power and one as video. I can connect directly to the Steam Deck. When I do that, the refresh and brightness drop and the menu shows 1920x1080@60Hz and 5w of PD. Oh and the Steam Deck shows a different name for the monitor in display settings (Synaptics Inc Non-PNP). I think that my USBC hubs don't allow enough power through the USBC video out port. I tested this by supplying power via the HUB's USBA port. Through HDMI and power from the USBA port I can only get 60Hz,,,, So power is definitely a factor. 7v will get you 144Hz
SteamOS does not support 144hz. Go to desktop mode and be happy. I have that same monitor, it runs on 144hz on desktop mode. Steam is working on steamos to run on that refresh rate on next update
Hey Russ, I am big fan of your channel, just wanted to say that first haha. I am starting to get into these portable monitors and I was hoping to ask a quick question about this one. I wanted to confirm that if you turn off or unplug this monitor, that it will save the settings (i.e. brightness, contrast, colour,) and not reset it to its original default settings. My friend had a portable monitor he got for fairly cheap (ingnok 15") and it does this which I can see being a problem if your use case involves you having to unplug it even once or more a day. Any help is appreciated, thanks again!
good thing i bought the 60hz one, as these monitors like to boast a lot of things but when you get them a lot of things are amiss, such as 100 sgbr gamut, when this one puts out 71%
Before buying this , why do I keep seeing comments saying what cable did you use to play ps5 on 144hz or 120hz ? I have a ps5 and I want to be able to know how it can run on that ?….how come there having trouble with the ps5 with this monitor ?
I got scared a bit in the bigining. I orderd one alredy. For laptop secundery screen and for my ps5. Hopefully going to be good for me. THX for the video :)
after playing around the PC NVIDIA Control panel settings, i realize in order to achieve 144Hz refresh rate, u have to downgrade ur resolution to meet the goal. Probably that why u not getting 120Hz for different types of devices.
nice. i've been thinking about repurposing my 15 year old 13 in vga lcd monitor to use as a 2nd monitor for my mini pc but now i think this would be a better option...wish it was a touchscreen though.
I know this video is old but I have gotten the steam deck to go beyond 60 fps on this monitor using a jsaux dock and the included hdmi cord. Be advised the hdmi cord included is special in the connectors so you will want to use it......
Warning to new buyers! This monitor does not support Freesync anymore, exact same A1 gaming model bought from European Amazon. It does have few improvements imo like just leather cover instead of carbon fiber looking one and Arzopa logo is now way smaller which I like but Freesync is completely missing which is a bummer.. still not bad deal but man I wish and thought It has it Edit. It does not have Freesync option in menus anymore at all. But 120hz1080p does work on Xbox if you manually select HDMI from connection types instead of automatic
Did you try to set the xbox to 120hz first in settings? There are multiple videos on youtube to watch on how to do it. Because this was my problem aswell
I have this particular monitor, and the only way I've gotten to 144Hz is by hooking it up to a laptop/PC. Now I'll try the PS5 for giggles (I have a 120Hz TV).
After owning the UPerfect QLED 1080P 500 NIT monitor, I can't go any lower. This thing in and of itself is way too bright, that I literally had to install a screen dimmer overlay app for Windows. I think I measured it with wall power, and it gets up to 600 NITS according to my instruments. The colors on it are just amazing. I also have 4 more of the Pepper Jobs OLED 4k 500 NIT monitors, went all in on that disaster. SIGH, it was a kickstarter, was the last I'll ever back. They want 1200 for it, I paid $900 and found the exact same monitor from a different company for a more stomachable $600 with billions of colors, same brightness and same MPP 2.0 support.
If anyone is still trying to get steam deck working, on the latest beta os if you disable automatic display scaling you get a menu that lets you choose the resolution and refresh rate. I had an option for 120 hz, and can confirm it works on the arzopa g1 with both hdmi and usb c
Actually PS5 is portable, well kind of. I have a set up of solar power battery charger (Can play for 5 hours) + PS5 Clip on monitor. I had it set up in my car (Honda Accord Hybrid), but since removed it, as I find I don't use PS5 that much.
Have to be careful with the lower-priced ones. Some have much higher response times (6ms for the cheaper one in this case). I wouldn't recommend higher than 2ms for gaming. Great review, thanks!
@@yahyarahman1254 in my experience people would not want a monitor for gaming if it is 6ms and felt people should know that. If 6ms is fine for you then use it and be happy
@@alexshannon4352 any VA/IPS panel (aside from some newer QLED pannels) are usually around 6-8ms. If you're playing competitive, less than 1ms is what you're aiming for, but you're only getting that with Oled in this screen size. For £150, 144hz, 1080p with a 144hz response time of 2.7ms, this thing is s bargain trust 👍🏻
Hi My Arzopa monitor is flashing in colors and not showing the image. Sometimes when I disconnect it it works, but after a couple of seconds is off again. Does any of you have an idea why is this happening?
So I’m having an issue with the switch. I plugged it into the monitor everything works fine. It shows that the switch it charging but the battery life is draining. Am i doing something wrong?
love it, honest and stop wasting money that I will never use. I was thinking paying 30 more for 144, looks cool but do i need it, nope lol it is purely extension to my small laptop 14inch, it was cute manager toy but impractical to do work. it was waste to bin the laptop i7 dell which once £1400 and now worth £400. I wanted to buy a second monitor and this is a China brand and the warranty, I need, is too far away, and would it last that long, so best to stick to value product ie £108 and see how it goes and I do not use it much. It is only for travel.
