I've got 5 large speakers dual 8" woofers dome midrange and dome tweeter. I used to crossover my sub at 80 hz. I tried log sweeps and would adjust the crossover from my sweetspot with a remote up and down and 80 gave me the best sound. I was limited in volume so the room gain didn't turn the bass into boom. Also the decay rate was way too long with no absorption and smooth floors and walls and ceilings. I tried everything I know and then got more power with an Anthem P5 so I got plenty of headroom. Speakers are rated up to 300 watts, and the amp gives me 500 at 4 ohms. The use of ARC with the AVM60 gave me more volume without the boom. I was humbled, and the crossover was changed by the room correction to 120 hz. Hearing is believing. So maybe a higher crossover might sound better. Try it and let us know.

Thanks for the response! I think it sounds best at 40hz, MultEQ X detected a 30hz roll off for the front stage, which I believe would be applied to protect the drivers even if the speakers were set to “Large”. Still experimenting to find the best settings. I also have the PEQ in the SB16’s to play with and help fine tune as well. So much to play with!!

I've notice cheap subs are super boomy around 70 to 80 hz just straight sloppy and 60hz solve all the boomy muddy mess and with a good subwoofer 80hz is just fine
