Be sure when making videos like this to mention that the real reason bow manufacturers put rollers on the bow string is not so much speed but friction. It makes a more quiet bow which for hunting is crucial, it makes an easier drawing bow, and saves your cable from wear and tear. Most modern rollers do increase the fps just slightly, but that wasn't the goal of the design.
I went for it for the cable wear.. I shoot 200 to 300 arrows a week and the cables in the nylon slider where wearing out. Bought some gaz strings and wanted to put good things on my side...loved your video!🎯👊👍👌
I put a roller guides on my girls low poundage bow, 36lbs, and it definitely made a difference in arrow speed. And much more consistent. Would recommend one of these.
I got mine for noise and friction mitigation. Anything to help make the bow quieter and it’s components last longer seems like a no brainer to me, especially when it’s sold for $11 on Amazon 🤷♂️🍻
It makes sense that it makes more of a difference on the lower poundage bows. A higher poundage bow more easily overcomes the friction of the slide than the lower poundage bow. It is doing the same thing for both, but it matters more to the lower poundage setup. Just like arrow weight will affect trajectory more on lower poundage bows, same thing here. High power will mitigate a multitude of sins.
@@stevepauley2437 Um did you watch the WHOLE video? When he does his bow and not wife's, he gets 3 speeds 275, 276, 277, and 277 again. Ie not as consistent because when he added the roller it hit 277 all three times. But thanks anyway.

Actually a good video...kinda kill the myths...If you are shooting a lot of arrows, then the roller is netter for friction. Did you ever figure out that arrows weight?
Roller slides will eliminate the chatter that comes from the cheap plastic cable slides along the cable rod. And as mentioned, it eliminates noise and friction.
@@WadesSwampDonkeyArchery the irony is that you can get them for $11 on Amazon, whereas the cheap plastic ones are a bit more expensive. You would think the bow manufacturers would jump on them and get them cheaper than they could make the plastic ones.
Yessir you are correct. It definitely does that. And as long as cables have serving, it is easier on cables as well. I just done that video because I had several people wondering how much speed difference it made. Some folks were treating it like a k and n air filter that added 50 hp lol. That was the main reason I did it. Thanks for the comment and adding to it.
I've been hearing that you should serve the cable where it runs through the roller if you do decide to install one, to prevent wear and tear. Apparently people have had strings chewed up with a roller. But I'm planning on get the PSE roller for the PSE Drive NXT....do you think it even matters?
Personally I have put thousands of shots downrange with 0 issues. A little extra protection never hurts but I have not had issues. The one thing to watch for is if u put bow in press and take tension off cables make sure no stand of cables gets loose and walks off the roller track. That would definitely cause an issue. Othe than that my opinion you should be good 👍 good luck and happy hunting!!

I also did this upgrade on a drive nxt and I ended up serving the cables because I was getting some noticeable wear and tear. Now this being my 1st bow, I don't know if I would have gotten the same wear & tear if I would have continued using the slide guard that comes standard ...At least it looks nicer now :) DIY-ing it though is now that simple. I had to take the cables off and find a way to keep them under some tension while serving. If you have proper tools, should be easy. I had to improvise but it worked in the end.
If you are keen to very slight changes yes. You won't feel the jitter of string sliding thru guide or the jitter of slide on bar. That is a def advantage. I probably should have that in video. They are definitely a worthy upgrade.

Yessir there are multiple different reasons to use one. I just dod that video for a speed comparison. Yes they are more for cable wear/friction reduction. And yep, serve them cables where it goes thru and that'll fix a lot of the freying issues. 👍💪
I was under the impression roller slides take less stress off the cable, I am putting one on my muzzy lvx from a few set ups I've seen its supposed to help the cable life.?
