It's a beautiful daily sports car. I've owned this car around 4 years. Even to this day, sitting in the driver's seat and gripping the steering wheel still brings a smile to my face.
I feel like the f sport makes it lose identity, it becomes the in-between but not the best at either. None the less, still a good vehicle if not confused
Growing up I always thought Lexus was a boring manufacturer overall, I’ve a couple of BMW M cars and 1 Mercedes AMG, trust me after the countless headaches with those cars (multiple reliability problems) I don’t think of them as boring anymore, the older I get the more appealing something like this is becoming, seriously thinking about one of these for my next car! Heard nothing but great things!
@@Whodat-te6pnyou don’t buy Lexus for fast you buy it for luxury and reliability. No need to extra warranty, having to worry about trash turbos, engine blowing up randomly, etc. That’s why Lexus and Toyota keep remaining on top.
@@michaels4640 On top for reliability - On the bottom for literally everything else. Most car guys are picking something else because they enjoy driving. They’re willing to pay the extra maintenance costs or turn a wrench. If you’re not and just want a upmarket Camry, Lexus makes sense. Just don’t get delusional about it. Lol
I own this car and I have no current plans on selling it, absolutely love it. Car may be slow for ppl used to drive supercars or 400hp+ cars but for me I think its actually pretty fast and a lot of fun to drive, guess its a matter of perspective. My last car was an Evo X so Ive been driving a few quick cars too, just nothing over 350hp.
Funny reading this comment. I’m 2 years into owning my ‘15 GSR. Now I find myself looking into these as I’ve always wanted a coupe.. Now I need to test drive one of these haha. Do you ever miss the X?!
Not really, my X was pretty high mileage and aways something breaking on it, very unreliable. I learned to despise it because of it. Also a big thing for mme was the interior upgrade, it really goes from 0 to 100 when you switch. The overall quality of the car is outstanding compared to the X, feels very luxurious. Car overall looks very mature too when you evolve from a fast & furious looking racecar@@beewills9492
I almost got this car, but I ended up getting the performance version, an RCF in white instead. To save money I got it used , a 2017 model. The mileage wasn’t insanely high and pretty good around 55k miles. I love the V8 inside it. So lovely
@@TreadDepthChannel when I test drove a RC350 I felt it was decent. Not slow by any means but not performing like a true sports car either. I feel the RCF fits the bill of a sports car better. Have you driven an RC200t? I never have but I wonder if that’s way slower than the 350. Smaller engine with turbos. Personally I only like naturally aspirated engines. No turbos for me.
I just bought a brand new 2023 yesterday. I’ve only put about 50 miles on it, but I think your assessment is inaccurate. I don’t find this drives like some meager, Everyman Camry. And if 0-60 in five seconds isn’t enough for you, then wow…just wow lol. I don’t find it boring, I don’t find it slow, I don’t find the nav difficult to operate (use voice command for it). The only facets of your opinion I agree with are comfort, and that it won’t leave me stranded like BMW did.
@@ratedm90 4500 miles now. I still love it. I would say it's noticeably heavy, as I think I remember him saying in the video. But it's never boring, and I still don't find it to be like a Camry by any means.
Having owned many different types of cars, and many Lexus products over the past almost 60 years including all out "sports cars" both foreign and domestic, and, currently owning the RC 350 F sport for several years, this is by far, the best vehicle I have ever owned. Yes, there are a few short comings that leave me shaking my head, but overall, this is a terrific car to own and drive for everyday use. The quality build is among the best I have seen. It is not a "sports car" but rather best described as a grand touring vehicle, and given that ICE vehicles are allegedly on their way out, I plan on keeping this car for as long as I can. A real keeper. If you do not like the car then look elsewhere. We all have a choice.
I just bought a gs300 2006, 150k miles and 4500$ shits goes through oil and gas’s like crazy but I love it, feels fast, drifts well, great burnouts. And if you just driving smoother it’s amazing cruiser
I’ve seen plenty of POV reviews of this, and they’re great. But this review is truly HONEST. I’ve been considering one of these considering the price jump of this to the RC F. I’m so glad you were completely honest about it’s negatives, etc. Me personally I think I could get around those, but I’d rather spend that money on a car that is everything I want. I am still definitely going to be in the market for one of these, so thanks for the honesty.
Long term, I planned to get a supercharger for extra power and sound. I'm thinking this reliable and very tamed beast would benefit from FI more than anything out there would but not sure about compression ratio, etc
It at least looks nice. I test drove one of these and I wasn’t really that impressed either. I decided to just keep my old 2002 Porsche Carrera4 911. Yeah, she’s old, but I done all the maintenance on her and she still runs very well.
i have a 2020 rc 350 f sport awd premium package. first the steering is supposed to tighten up in sport mode as does the suspension, testing the performance of one is more than flooring it on a straight road or driving slow in a circle 😂 i have scared the crap out of a couple people who were nay sayers who think differently about it now it’s only what it was made to be nothing more, funny thing always is is that people who always test drive a v6 complain there’s not enough horsepower, or if it’s a coupe there’s not enough room, it’s a coupe! with a v6! boring? not with someone who knows how to drive it. comparing it to a corolla? your right what you said in the beginning, your confused. nothing more to say 😂
@@calinator51 i meant sport mode in general i wasn’t trying to get into details with someone who didn’t have a clue as to why the steering got stiffer in the first place but yes plus mode 🤘
This car is a GT I love this car I have a 2015 RC350 AWD and it is SUPER RELIABLE and I can do long travel and I drive it with the paddles and in sport + mode , it’s a GT if you approach it in that state of mind you’ll simply love it!
I got a 2019 RC350 F Sport AWD in June and I love it. Originally wanted a GT/GR86, didn't want to really pay that much for a 2+2 with a Subaru boxer not to mention nobody was carrying one in the dealership when I was looking. My dad saw this RC 350 used and we went to look on it on a whim and the second I sat in it, I was hooked. It's heavy yeah, I got gapped by a Miata once cause that Miata was on steroids in a 30, but god damn is the car comfortable. And the V6 has just enough power to remind you that you can get in trouble with it if you wanted. Also, the seats holy crap I didn't realize how comfortable they were until my friends got to ride with me. They kept asking me how do I not fall asleep just sitting in them. Honestly my favorite thing is that the face lift Lexus did just looks so good. The pre-face RC still looks great but this one is refined in almost all the right ways. Biggest win is the rear, they made the new vents look so much better. My only gripe is the new triple beams look like they forgot about it and just crammed it into the corners. Mine doesn't have the triple beams and honestly the stock lights IMO fit the profile much, much better. The real head scratcher is why doesn't the 300/350 models have the rear cupholders like the RCF. Why would you need rear cupholders in a track car??? Final thoughts, it's a different league from an 86 but I don't regret this car for a second. If anything it's cemented my love for Lexus in general. Got my eyes set on either upgrading to a RCF or grabbing a LC500.
Hey I'm curious how much you pay for the insurance on Lexus and do you know how much it would be for 86. I'm planning to buy a car and pretty much stopped between RC350 and GR86. So if you give me your concerns it would be a great help. Thankyou😊
Hey so right now I'm paying 720 for 6 months or about 120 each month because of what we have insured with Progressive. Last time I looked into an 86/BRZ the insurance was more than a MK5 Supra, don't remember how much but the fact people are wrapping their FT86s around poles and bouncing them off curbs doesn't help. They're two different beasts so really it's up to you if you want a pure no frills sports car or something more of a Grand Tourer that is just comfortable to drive everyday but can still put some decent power down every now and then. The biggest reason I settled for the RC350 was used, it was about as much as a GR86 and I felt like I got more of Toyota for what I paid for. Hope I could help, test drive both and see what car you end up liking better.
@@scribblerboy8675 Lastly, I think you already heard about it but people have been having issues with the Subaru boxer. Just something to still be mindful of as I know a bunch of my friends had their engines blown at 20k miles.
I absolutely love this vehicle. I only buy Lexus because they are reliable and reasonably priced, and maintenance won't "kill" your budget. This is a fair and great review, and I perfectly match this vehicle's "target" market makeup. I'm so happy and look forward to pushing the mileage well into the 150,000s; you can do this easily with a well-maintained Lexus.
Perfect review and exactly why i bought it...😂. Its sporty but not a sports car. Its luxury, quality, will last and will look good while doing it and you are correct about the insurance.
Wow where have you been? This was a great straight to the point review. I have been interested in this car for a while and though others have hinted at some of the concerns you brought up, your feedback was so blunt and realistic. I look forward to more of your reviews. Subscribed!
I pound on my GS 350 and just about every day for 8-10 hours a day, put 120,000 mi on in 2 years. sure it could use some attention but its still ready to Rock! and it shall
@TreadDepthChannel Because sport doesn't affect suspension. Need to be in sport plus. I saw a massive difference in handling. In my AWD it feels like its on rails in sport plus with hardly any body roll.
@@TreadDepthChannel Wait.. you never actually put the car you reviewed in sport+ mode? Thats all I drive in and its night/day compared to regular sports mode. Its extremely notiticable esp on the highway my dude.
I appreciate your honest and unbiased review of this vehicle. Underpowered. Neutered. Tame. Underwhelming. Sorry, "practical." My mistake. 😂 I will instead look at buying a BMW. Likely a 435i with the N55 or a 340i with the B58.
Will it beat a BMW ? No Will it out perform a AMG ? No .. Will it be more reliable that all of those cars ? YASSSS Its a laid back 2 dr That has around 306 hp but it will beat every other car in longevity and reliability, with style , & comfort . Ahh yes RR performance has a 6k supercharger pushing it @ around 430hp with the reliability BMW won't have or Mercedes.
Feels like they combined a BRZ (small sporty) with a Camry XLE V6 (2GR-FE engine) and slapped a Lexus badge on it. Might be under 40k but after years the prices have not gone down too much so it does seem to hold it's value but not good for people like me who want to get them cheap.
I have a rc350 heavly modified and I will say that it handles way better than my GTR hands down . Not to mention the reliability, I'm at 560hp and 463ftlbs awd so I have plenty of GAP SAUCE 😂 interior full carbon fiber interior. Love this car , but love lexus , this is my 6th lexus the brand doesn't fail.
@DaleDoback770 what's up , man the list is long lol, I bought my rc around 3 years ago , first mod I did was rims but since then it has had 3 sets. I've done the breaks with drilled/slotted rotors. Full carbon fiber interior pieces, carbon fiber steering wheel with led lights and matching roja red leather. Carbon fiber exterior pieces, straight pipe with ppe headers, rsr lowering springs with r&r racing upper control arms, (usrs) r&r racing tuned Takeda Intake, 150 shot , r&r racing supercharger kit and a 12" kicker subwoofer with a 1200 watt amp I think that is all but I am probably missing a few lol .
The funny thing about Car reviewers is that they make it seem as if you buy a car to drive aggressively or even to race. Majority of the time People with HIGH PERFORMANCE cars don't get to use all that power on the streets. Why it's such a big deal, I'll never know. We act as if there aren't speed limits on the highways. Even the reviewers can't floor the 'fast' cars for too long, incase the get caught.
It's not a sports car, its actually a GT. This was a rather cursory review. You left out many features that make the car more desirable for someone who is looking for a GT (e.g. four wheel steering, limited slip differential, double wishbone aluminium front suspension, variable damping, six piston front brake calipers, variable ratio steering... etc etc).
I been driving an 06 IS 350 for the past few years and ive been wanting to buy a newer IS 350 but they are extremely rare where I live so was looking at either the RC or GS models
youre setting to far from the steering wheel so it might be why the steering feels so heavy. adjust your sitting position and you might notice a difference
Loved this review, watched 100 times. Found a 2021 F Sport 3 Black Line w 20k. Bought it. I love but man the gas mileage is kinda bad and the transmission 6 speed awd is lazy as F. But I do eSport simracing GT3 So I guess I'm used to the super fast shifts! Thanks for the help man!
It needs sport tuning and steering, and the interior is embarrassingly dated. Get rid of track pad and CD player put in new infotainment system. Redesign dash.
I did not know Toyota made a V-8. I think my F150 3.5 eco-boost is faster than that car. I don’t like the fact that it has two different size wheels and tires..
This video is ridiculous. To Mr. Tread Depth...I've got to know why you want to oversteer and why 0-60 in between 5-6 seconds is not enough for you? Why don't you need a spare tire? What do you want a car to do for you? You're acting like this should compete with a 911 Carerra. I'm five months into my 2023 RC 350 F-Sport and have no complaints.
@@TreadDepthChannel No it doesn’t so that’s why I’m asking what you do find more exciting? If 0-60 in 5ish seconds doesn’t do it for you then what would?
@@TreadDepthChannel If you want to tell me something along the lines of a 4 Series I wouldn’t argue, they’re tiny bit quicker and more nimble, lighter, but my God, look at how those look compared to the RC which is objectively the much more attractive car with the reputation for longevity. When I bought mine a few months ago, I was cross shopping the BMW four series. I asked 10 members of my family and least five of my closest friends, showed them pictures, side-by-side, and everyone unanimously agreed. The RC was the better looking car. So for me, it was a little bit more of a balance to have slightly, almost negligibly less performance and a better look. And to say this drives like a Camry- I think anyone who owns one would agree that’s not true.
Is this really hard to steer? I have heard anyone say that. I need to drive it. I care more about luxury than speed but I do expect it to steer nicely.
It annoys me how spoiled Americans are when it comes to cars... This car is boring? This car? Boring??? Try driving skoda octavia diesel... I would kill to have this car in Europe (to be euro spec). We only have 300h... 😮💨
@@TreadDepthChannel The amount you're ready to invest in reliability for a sports car hinges on your financial limits, personal tastes, and the importance you attach to having a dependable vehicle. As someone who covers a minimum of 90 miles daily (roughly 20-22k annually), it's vital to factor in aspects such as warranty coverage, upkeep expenses, and the enduring ownership journey when gauging the holistic worth of a sports car. Admittedly, I'd opt for a BMW M340i without hesitation, but its price and maintenance carries a considerable premium.
