I’m very pleased at the current state of things on the new Apple Silicon Mac books. Thank you for your video. It was really helpful. Though I don’t plan on upgrading until apples next set of computers comes out, it’s good to know that majority of my development needs are already met and will continue to improve in the forthcoming future

Nice video. I’m a code newbie and I’m using an M1 MBP to learn web development. This laptop is way overkill for my needs but I’m future-proofing. Installed VS Code, Homebrew (thanks again for the tip in the other video!)... Node, Git... that’s my setup right now 🤓

what happens when I move my data from an old Macbook to an M1? Since I'll receive one in a couple of days, I'm wondering if I can just update all the packages, or if I have to start by uninstalling all of them (or just the ones that will run natively without rosetta)?

Thanks for the thorough explanation! I'm making the jump to macOS when the new MBP 14" releases soon. I had a question: Do you use the native Finder app? One thing that bugged me about it is that it doesn't have an path address bar at the top like Windows explorer does. I saw that this can be enabled, but the path doesn't seem to be editable. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm a happy apple-fan but I've also been missing the address bar from Windows Explorer. :) The closest you can get is the GO window, or - if you need the address of a specific file/folder - you can hold down the Option/Alt key when right-clicking a folder or file. This will let you copy the path of the folder/file under the copy menu. :) Hope this helps!

UTM app works for some clever virtualization: Ubuntu, Windows 10 arm64, and Win7 x86. Preliminary stages of course. Also preview builds of the android emulator are already available.

I think the really interesting effect is how not being able to run x86 Linux will affect developers. With Linux servers almost entirely x86, will they go Windows and WSL2, or will the ARM UNIX on Mac be close enough? Or maybe we will see a rise in ARM Linux Servers?

I tried installing pip install opencv and scikit learn modules in python 3.8.2 but I've been facing this error and could not find hwo to resolve this "clang: error: the clang compiler does not support 'faltivec', please use -maltivec and include altivec.h explicitly". Can anyone suggest me what to do next

I am not able to install packages such as panda, numpy, compatibles with python 3.9 and through rosetta is very slow! How did you install libraries and packages? Or which other arm native python versions can be installed?

I mostly work on Microsoft SQL, MSBI, Power BI, Python, Excel and Word, so for this would you recommend me to go ahead and buy MacBook Pro M1? Would these applications be supported currently if I use Parallel for VM? What are your thoughts. . I have never used MAS OS before this would be my very first time if I buy one. It would be of great help to me if you answer.

That video will be coming out soon, but I'll spoil that part for you. I trained an MNIST digit classifier with 42,000 total source images across 10 digits. Both trainings (Air and Pro) converged early at 10 iterations.

I was using native Homebrew! If you take a look at 3:05 (don't blink!), you'll see that node is a native arm64 executable.
