Arsenal are a really good team and Arteta is clearly a top quality coach. I’d probably wait until they win something significant before we start throwing words like ‘dynasty’ around tho. I’d imagine most of their fans would agree with this too
As an Arsenal fan - completely agree. I think Arteta has put Arsenal in as promising a situation as can be desired for a team hoping to establish a dynasty, all the background conditions are there, but whether a dynasty will actually be created remains entirely to be seen, and we can’t know for several years.
Agree 100%. Dynasties win a lot of trophies. We have a really talented, young team, with a lot of potential, who are looking really good rn and impenetrable at the back, but have won nothing yet. If we can keep them together and add wisely, yes it could be our time for the next few years, but there's a lot of ifs and right now, I'd settle for winning either the PL or CL this season, both would be dreamland... Whatever happens, it is good to be really competitive again and I don't see that changing any time soon. Our renewed standing will only help with transfers too.
Best Arsenal team in 20 years, and it shows. Any long-time Arsenal fan will tell you that usually, this is the week we bottle it all, and we are out of the league and UCL in one swift week. Fingers crossed, this is the year for all Arsenal fans.
It was well before this week last year. We can go out narrowly and draw with Villa etc ans still a good season as long as its done fighting and maybe unlucky etc.
As an Arsenal fan, I am just enjoying watching this team play. Gone are the days when we were really soft to play against, and anyone running at our defense looked like scoring. A young team full of talent, a coach who is hungry for success, and a style of play with a mix of silk and steel Happy days.
So happy to see the growth in confidence and love towards Art de Roché, one of the Althletic's best writers and right up there as one of the most thoughtful and articulate voices and journalists on Arsenal. Keeping backing Art and all his Spiderman memes also, would love to see him and James McNicholas on the podcast more regularly please!
Tactical nous, culture building, individual player development & long-term vision. Plus has that young/fresh manager energy - not yet jaded by decades in the job, and he's a genuine Arsenal man. The more time passes the more Arteta keeps proving himself.
As an Arsenal fan, while I wouldn't say a "dynasty" can be established before more trophies, I'm just so proud of what our club is at this point. 11 captains on the pitch every game, so many individual talents flourishing, an incredible team spirit, and a great leader in Arteta. I love watching games now, and it makes me happy that we're playing good football. A trophy this season would be great, though beating Real Madrid/City in a CL final is no easy feat, and Liverpool and City both have much more recent experience in winning the prem. I'd say I'd be happy if we reach the CL final, and in the prem I just want us to not capitulate like last year. Then next season, hopefully we'll have a real push for trophies
I think what Arteta got from Wenger was less about football and more about what it means to represent the club, and the moral responsibilities that come with that. Respect, values, integrity etc. I feel that rubbed off on him more than anything else.
I'm excited as the next fan about Arsenal at the moment but the discourse and use of words such as dynasty without having won anything is premature. I'm hopeful we can begin that journey this season though
21:00 Josh Kroenke build the same trust with the coaches and GMs at his NBA and NHL teams the Nuggets and Avalanche and they have both on the championship within the last 2 year thru that trust. As an Avs fan they had the worst NHL season in history in 2016‐17 under Coach Bednar and GM Joe Sakic but trusted them and the process and they built one of the best teams in the NHL that has a chance to win again this year and the nuggets just clinched the top spot in the west for their title defense this year. I think Josh knows a thing or 2 about winning and I'm excited to see what the Gunners can do this year and in the future!
@@IrfanulKarimshe won everything available to him, unfortunate to go up against Madrid in the 2 of 3 CL finals and went up against probably the most dominant PL team, City, for years.
The question is not if they are considered to be a dynasty already. The question is, are they creating a dynasty / are they creating the conditions to dominate football in the upcoming 5-8 years? I'd say yes. Because all the conditions are there. With players maturing and new signings coming in, they will only get better.
Yes. What arteta is creating here is more than a good team he’s given us a new identity which translates through the whole club. I find it very interesting how our boys are so young but we never hear any controversy surrounding them. That’s a testament to the mentality of being an Arsenal player under Mikel arteta. I can’t wait for the years to come the future looks bright.
@@virupakshawalla5734he was clearly talking about the younger lads, read the comment again lol. Partey is like 31, not one of the younger players in the squad. He means the boys aren’t out partying every week as we’ve seen with other young talents in the past
@@virupakshawalla5734 There's something deeply dystopian seeing someone referencing a sexual assault allegation while using emojis. Please don't do that.
@@markgrayson6771 something deeply dystopian about others imposing how people should express themselves. Its that what the right calls cultural Marxism that has actually led to the rise of the whackjob right and the dystopia we are actually in already.
The answer is yes and I'm gonna say it: it has been the plan from the beginning. Remember that 5 stage plan Edu talked about in the summer of 2023? This is not even stage 5 yet and we are looking really good. But than reaching the top is 1 thing, staying there is a challenge on its own. But I do think we can make the most out of this cycle.
Love our team and our boss, and I'm sure the intention is to build a team that's successful over a long period but come on guys, the "Dynasty" talk is premature. We haven't even won anything important with this team yet - not counting the FA Cup because most of the squad is different; KT is on loan, Eddie, Bukayo and Reiss were on the bench that day, Saliba, ESR, and Elneny were away on loan, and Martinelli was recovering from a long-term injury. The rest of our current squad weren't with us the last time we won a trophy, so they are pretty much trying to win their first piece of silverware as a squad.
Surprised to see you Andy! Ain't seen you since cooking classes in the 90s at Aquinas. Remember us talking about how good the Lighthouse Family were. Michael Lloyd.
When you have Timber, Tomiyasu, Partey, Leandro, ESR, Jesus, Kiwior, Jorginho coming off the bench you have to put them as a top squad. Going into the summer and getting a top class striker would put them as title contenders next year as well. Most of the squad is fairly young and have not hit their prime yet. The future is bright.
As an arsenal fan ngl you have to win something major to be called a dynasty and do it on a consistent basis byt we have buit a foundation for that to be a possibility now we just have to execute and if we fail just learn and come back stronger like this year. But no arsenal fan is calling us a dynasty just yet 😂
Well to be considered of creating a dynasty you have to win something initially meaning if we won the prem this seasonsl this title would make more sense btw calm down lil bro its just a youtube comment 😂
We haven't won anything yet! What it does look like though is that Arsenal FINALLY have good future prospects ever since the tail end of Wenger's reign.
Pretty much all the comments agree lmao. A dynasty is defined by winning over a prolonged period and is somewhat retrospective in that you look back and say what a period of dominance that was. This team has the ingredients but you need consistent results. Manchester City is an example of an active dynasty. Liverpool has a good case to be made especially if they win this season.
Asymptote Arteta: A Nearly Man Mikel Arteta's tenure is becoming a frustrating case of "so close, yet so far." Like a mathematical asymptote, he leads the team ever closer to greatness, only to fall short at the crucial moment. His costly mistakes, often due to wrobg team selection and lack of proactive action before it's too late, prove to be the difference between glory and disappointment. Looking ahead, the focus should shift to finding Arteta a top-notch first assistant coach. Someone who can offer complementary perspective and identify the minor weaknesses that Arteta keeps missing repeatedly. This complementary voice could be the key to finally crossing the line and achieving sustained success.
Compared to the recent Brentford/Brighton episode, this one was good but lacked the level of behind the scenes insights and interesting information. Some of it felt fairly obvious and surface level.
That’s how I feel about a lot of these podcast videos these days, there’s some good discussion but it always has to lead back to some inane, ill-defined, sensationalist headline which definitely holds the conversation back. Edit: that being said, I’ve now watched the video and I don’t think that applies to this one
If only God can just guide this team to seven heaven. Seven matches to go, seven more wins, and the title is yours. To do that up against pep and klopp breathing down your neck would be amongst the greatest title won in the epl, hands down
Why cant this wait until the season is over or Arsenal has actually won something? At the moment the answer is obviously no because he's only won an FA Cup. Nothing is guaranteed next season or the season after either.
To say you are creating a dynasty you have to win. Saying we have a lot of talent and look set for the future isn't enough. Because history is full of teams that looked like they could winners but it never happened. Newcastle in the mid-90's who finished runners up in back to back seasons. Or Bayer Leverkusen who finished 2nd at least 4 times over a 6 season span and reached a champions league final. Even though a lot of people thought a title was on it's way, it never happened in the end. You could even add Poch's Spurs to that list of "nearly" teams. I mean Valencia won 2 league titles, 2 UEFA cups, reached 2 UCL finals over 6 seasons but I never see anyone call them a dynasty. That's because of how high the bar is
All I’m going to say is that this team will be in contention for years to come. Klopp is leaving now, Pep is probably leaving in a couple of years so there will be a fall off for both of those clubs because these managers aren’t easily replaced. Both of those teams biggest starts are entering the last couple of years at elite levels of playing (barring any Zlatan esque freak of nature kind of situation). There’ll be opportunities for this Arsenal side to win things not just now, but beyond this season.
Indeed good analysis. Once Pep decides to pack and go ( for the Spain job maybe), it will be pole position advantage for Arteta and his young Gunners in the next 5-10 years whereas the other clubs need time to reset n rebuild . Time to win titles n ucl. 😊
Arteta is going to be the greatest manager ever in the Premier league by the time his done with Arsenal. The ball is in motion - this year we are lifting the EPL & UCL - it's written in the stars. Watch and admire the beginning of greatness
it will be after klopp and pep leaves. But i hope he wins it this season so that people will not have the excuse of saying he can only do it when those 2 leaves
A dynasty of what? Being a good team? He’s won 1 FA Cup in 5 years so far. Needs multiple seasons of winning the top prizes at least to be considered a dynasty.
You must give klopp credit, regardless of this season results...twice he lost the league to city after doing over 90 points...also won the league and ucl...several losing finals also...klopp is clearly a top top mngr
Arteta is implementing high standards, a style of play, and the icoming signings have been good and the average players are being weeded out. That's how liverpool got to where they are under klopp.
@@jgmediting7770 yeah, the pressure at utd is immense. Liverpool and arsenal were good in flashes over the last 20 years, istanbul for liverpool and the recent klopp success, and the arsenal invincibles and the champions league final. but they never had the sustained fergie utd domination. While it is a shame for them it is also a blessing because they dont have the same spotlight and standard they are held to by fans and the media. So if arsenal or liverpool finish 1st it is great, if they finish 2nd or 3rd, it is not ideal, but if the football is good, then it is relatively ok. The managers are given much more leeway. No manager at united lives up to sir alex's 13 league titles. Not jose, not lvg. Utd shouldve made a massive push for ancelotti years ago.
@@mitchaelhollingsworth1698 ancelotti wouldn’t have done anything under the glazers and the footballing structure. It’s needed fundamental change that would take the greatest manager in history 5 years or so, and they get judged after 2. A prime fergie wouldn’t get past 2 seasons during the last decade, and he certainly wouldn’t have got the 5 years he needed to create a title contending team all those years ago.
huh? Tierney and Lokonga are on loan. The bench is Partey or Jorginho (whoever isn't playing), Kiwior or Timber (whoever isn't playing), Jesus, Zinchenko, ESR, Vieira, Tomiyasu, Ramsdale. The team goes 18 deep with quality. 21 deep if you count Nketiah, Vieira, Nelson.
This is about 8 weeks early, don’t you think?! Dynasties require silverware and one FA Cup and two Community Shields in 5 years is not worthy of a top manager. An argument could be made that with Man City underperforming and Liverpool performing significantly better than anyone could have predicted, the only reason Arsenal are in contention for the PL is because of external factors. This really is a do or die moment and if Arsenal don’t win something this year, then we are looking at a dynasty of false dawns and, I hate to say it, bottlers.
These guys are not giving Arteta enough credit. On the field, off the field, in the stands, in the pubs, in the front room staff, in the recruiting.... He has single handedly resurrected this club. Credit due to Edu, and massive credit to the Kroenkes ... But Arteta is the spearhead that has driven everything. His impact cannot be overstated.
Created? Not at all. Creating? Too early to say.. foundations are solid and we're doing much better than any team in the Emirates era, but that's not much of a standard. If we win a major trophy this season, we can say a dynasty is being built.
Mistakes in the recruitment and mention Marquinhos? Kid was bought in last season for £2 mil wouldve made sense to mention a player like Vieira, Lokonga or Nuno Tavares
Good team but lets wait and see before saying anything. Obviously arteta is next because pep very likely going to at some point coach spain , kloop is gone,De zerbi we dont know what it looks like in a big team and who knows if he stays in the prem with big jobs lining up.
Speed running how to spoil the good vibes around Arsenal. Dynasty talk when they haven't won a major trophy since the FA Cup years ago. Must be something about being in London. Spurs get the same nonsense coverage.
"Dynasty* - what?! You expect better from the Athletic. At least look up the meaning of words before you use them. Basically the headline means "is arteta creating a line of succession to be in charge of arsenal?"
You can't compare Arteta signings against Moyes ones as the idiot Moyes constantly buys players and then plays them out of position whilst also selecting players that don't suite his NEGATIVE 11 behind the ball so called football
I feel these journalists are just quickly milking the arsenal and arteta stories before any collapse happens…because what’s with all the narratives??? Dynasty??? Lmao I’m an arsenal fan but calm down everyone .
Get a hold of yourselves. A very good team with a very good coach, that hasn't won anything yet. When they have a few titles domestically and in Europe then talk about dynasties
He still hasnt acheived more than OGS did at united and hes been there nearly 5 years now. HAHA the talk should be who can get arsenal over the line when they bottle it again this year.
