We're trying to figure out who buys a fully loaded base model Dodge Charger... new. The $50,000+ question on our minds this week. Read our full review of the 2019 Dodge Charger SXT AWD here: www.perpetualradio.ca/single-...
Our full tour and review of the 2019 Dodge Charger SXT V6 AWD goes in-depth on the features and options for this entry-level trim for Dodge's full-size sedan. Like other vehicles we've featured from FCA this vehicle can be equipped with most of the safety and premium features customers want, like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, rear parking sensors, keyless entry, and remote starter.
The various packages on this vehicle give the Charger bi-xenon headlights, LED fog lights, LED tail lights, blind spot monitoring, rain sensing wipers, black roof, 18" black noise wheels, and black badges around the vehicle. This Charger also comes with the Black Top Package, Plus Group, Technology Package, and Super Track Pack.
On the inside we find black leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, dual zone automatic climate control, 8" Uconnect 4 infotainment system, and 9 speaker Alpine audio system.
We take the Charger on a road test to talk about how this full-size sedan handles and performs on the road, including a 0-100km (0-60mph) launch with the Super Track Pack Launch Control system. We wrap up our review of this vehicle by going over the vehicle's fuel economy, what we liked and disliked about it, and everything else you need to know about it.

Mopar enthusiasts can send their hate mail directly to me, nile@perpetualradio.ca 💙 The SRT & Hellcat are the way to go, we're hoping to feature one of the HEMI V8s later this year.

Hey Nile, I'm quite surprised that an SXT AWD model costs as much as a RT model. If I'm spending that type of money for brand new, I'm definitely going for the RT. Not to sound like a beggar but if it's possible if you come across a 5.7 RT Charger, I would love to see your impressions of that trim. Keep up the great work!!
@NileLivesey

@@HawkrulzOfficial I agree completely! That's why I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy this car as configured. We're hoping FCA puts the R/T or SRT on the fleet later this year so we can test it out, however we are going to be filming the 2019 Grand Cherokee SRT in about a month, so we're looking forward to that!

I have a 2017 SXT, and LOVE IT. I need the AWD for New England, and don't personally like SUV's and Subaru's. I wanted something that looked tough, but, was dependable in bad weather driving my kids. Sure I'd prefer an R/T or SRT. But, as an adult- I need to make responsible decisions. The SXT AWD is the car that I like with the safety features that I need. If they bring back the R\T AWD, I'll be first in line.

See the Hellcat makes a lot of sense, same with the SRT. At $50k you can get better handling cars with the same equipment, but you can't get the unique power of a Hemi SRT V8. Add on another $20k for the Hellcat and you're in business!

I have been considering this car for a good while. I live in the United States, specifically North Dakota. We get some pretty heavy snow sometimes and I am basically stuck picking AWD car or a SUV/pickup truck. That said I honestly dislike trucks and an SUV seems over sized for a daily driver to and from work. So i found this one. Its a 4 door (better for insurance for the most part), it has a fair horsepower to weight ratio compared to my Mazda M3. My 2010 Mazda gets about 26 mpg average (according to my personal calculations), if i get roughly 29 from this car, I'd be a happy camper. Yes this Charger weighs a bit more but that along with the AWD should keep the tires on the road firmly. Since my Mazda is FWD it struggles a bit in snow, even with proper tires. I DO NOT need a super charged 450 horsepower whatever type vehicle. So I would say this would be fine for me. Any thoughts or suggestions? Debates are welcome as long as it remains civil.

I'm saving up for this car I have a Mazda 3 base model with nothing impressive in it. I only got it because I needed a vehicle badly but I want to make sure I get everything I want in my dodge charger. When we get hit with snow my Mazda wants to slide a little. I never drove awd but I heard it's a lot easier in the snow. When I get the money I'm making the change any recommendations on packages I should get. I would like the color in this video and I want to have black racing stripes painted on it.

@PRNTestDrive

That's certainly fair, however the deal I might be able to negotiate at a dealership will likely be different than what you can get. It's something we mention when we film pickup trucks, but since MSRPs are standard across the country it's much easier for us to report those rather than 'off the lot' prices.

@james2042
@james2042 5 лет назад
In the US, the price difference between the two is less than 1000 dollars and chargers get bigger discounts on lots so they are cheaper in the end. I fail to understand why canada is so different. Also the black roof is a very pricey addition that honestly will just make the interior hotter during the summer. Also there is no direct competition for the charger as it is at heart a 4 door muscle car which is the only of its class currently in production. Chevy had the SS for a few years but it didnt sell. This does not compare to anything really, just like the closest competition to a wrangler is a 4runner, which is still a very different vehicle. Also my local police force has 2 6.4hemi chargers and 1 6.4 hemi challenger which are insane cop vehicles.

We've found a couple facelift Charger Pursuits for sale, about $15k a pop for AWD and the Hemi V8. It would be a really fun project to buy one and swap in the tech/features from a car like this while still retaining the original power delivery and overall exterior look.

What's the difference between and SXT and an GT?
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 3 года назад
The GT gets the SRT's styling with the V6 engine and kit. Basically the GT is an appearance trim. We ended up featuring a 2018 Challenger GT and went over it, along with a 2019 Durango GT. Both of those were the same idea, SRT styling with the SXT features.

It is essentially the same car since 2011 and almost nothing changed since 2015, and the fact that it is used by police makes it quite mundane. Yet, it is the last V8 (optional) American rear wheel drive sedan along with its sibling the Chrysler 300.

That's exactly what I found during my week with this also. The SRT & Hellcat makes a lot of sense, but if you want a $50k sedan the Chevy Impala will do a better job for you, minus the AWD. Plus we could suggest half a dozen mid-size sedans for $50k or less.
@tmanepic
@tmanepic 5 лет назад
@@PRNTestDrive well, since even most mid-size sedans offer more interior space, it's a fair comparison. This is what happens when you work with a tired 20 year old platform, newer cars just offer much better packaging. Plus I don't believe you mentioned safety, which is a huge negative for this car, I think it might even be worst in class if I'm not mistaken.
