Happy Epidemic customer here, I loved the most recent changes that make it easy to spot which tracks have been downloaded/bookmarked. The RU-vid music library served me well pre-monetisation but Epidemic gives me the freedom to cross-post on multiple platforms and know my music is cleared 😁🤘

The playlist feature is great. I love listening to Epidemic Sounds when I'm not editing and if I hear something cool, I can just bookmark it and drop it into a playlist like, "Rock" or "Chill" and have them set aside for an upcoming video.

I've been using them for the last 2 years. I always find the perfect song to set the mood. I probably should just go ahead and sign up for the annual plan instead of paying monthly. The big thing that I had to learn the hard way is change your transitions to match the music beat. You want to transition in time with the music and it makes it much better.

Great to hear you're working on a new edit! Honestly, my sound varies quite a bit. I've been testing out a bunch of different mics and filming in all sorts of weird places (like the truck I used to live in). I do my best to try to flatten the audio so nothing sounds to abrasive, try to get the levels consistent and then let the chips fall where they may.

Generally I don't like music in videos I watch. Some people do it okay, but most don't. When I listen to music, I prefer to choose it.

Interesting. I've never watched a great movie or Netflix series and thought that I wished I could have picked the music. I think when it's done right, it should blend right in and create an experience. Personally, I think John Williams was the master of telling stories through music. I've been fortunate enought to see him conduct a few times live.

We used to have a "Slush Cup" up here in Washington State at the Mt Baker Ski Area until the environmentalists through a big hissy fit and it was shut down. I sure miss those drunken times... As far as music, I find that I have to feel some sort of emotion with the combination of video and audio when I am editing, if I can't make that connection and switch up the tunes..... I also use Epidemic but I also use Musicbed and recently and more often Artlist... Thanks again Grandmaster "D" for another ins-pie-racinal video! Cheers!

I find that if the music is to loud that you struggle to weed out the music to hear the speaker or that it is distracting from the message of the video, I just simply XXXXXXXXX out of the video and move on!! It amazes me that during the editing process, this error is not observed and remedied. PEACE.

Ha! I hear that. You know what I do? When I'm not editing, I listen to music all the time but I'll listen to Epidemic Sound and if I come across anything I like and I think might be good for a certain video, I use their playlist feature to add it so I have songs that are ready for different situations later on.

I've been planning to get started with Epidemic Sounds, and this deal is just the push I need. Quick music question though. If I take two songs that are the same BPM, will I usually be able to swap in one background instrument from one song for another background instrument from the other song, or is music a little more complicated than that? I realize I couldn't do this with a feature instrument like a lead guitar, because it changes a lot throughout the song and night have solos and stuff, but I'm talking about a basic bass or drum track.

good video danial , i dont do snow boarding i still fall of a bike with stabillisers but it doesnt sound as bad as a competition they have in uk rolling cheese down a hill , and your right sound is amazing if done right i am doing a playlist of main missions of a game called farcry 5 which is 5 yrs old and my fav far cry the music in that which i have to have off when recording it clear water revivial and in far cry games the radios in cars have about 16 stations , but i also remember a game in 1980's called fallout 3 which takes place after nuclear bombs destroy world so your exploring the ruins of washington dc and they have old 1960s music , and for some reason clearing a tunnel of ferral ghouls to 1960s music fits , all fallout games had same , so yes music does convey emotions

I love music so much. I used it a lot in earlier videos on my channel but haven't been using it a lot recently because of the nature of the storytelling type videos I made recently. But when I watch someone like Ed from Filmbooth or Peter McKinnon, I always love how well they use music in their videos.

Is a bad use of music hurting your RU-vid video? That is also a good question. My answer is yes, especially when a musicbed is used in tutorial videos. Whenever music is not supposed to build or enhance a mood, just let it. Some creators feel the urge to spice up their videos by adding some useless music. It is just annoying to be forced to listen to music playing in the background while you just want to hear the spoken word. The music becomes even more annoying when you skip back and forth to follow along with a tutorial.

Couldn't agree more. I've used music beds in tutorials plenty of times but I invariably choose something so demure like and acoustic track that just fits the mood of the conversation and the levels are buried very low just to create atmosphere. Drives me crazy when I hear Hip Hop beats dropped under a video where I'm trying to learn something to the point where it's distracting.

Nope. That's the whole point of the service. If you sign up, any songs you use are royalty free and you assign your channel to your account so Epidemic Sound clears any songs you use on your RU-vid channel or elsewhere. If you have multiple channels, they have licenses for more than one account as well.

Hey Daniel and the team :) Got a question, sorry it's not related to this video, I hope you won't mind me asking here. I was wondering if have you heard anything about youtube wanting to decrease its cut on advertising. The reason I'm asking is that it seems even if our subs increase, our watch time increases our CTR is awesome at 10.4% and we push more videos. Our revenue is decreasing by 55% (yikes!). To me it seems very sharky advertisers pay CPM: €10.45 and our RPM is only: €4.78. Maybe I'm looking at the figures the wrong way. If you or your team have time to shed some light on this or point me in the direction of a video that could, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

CPM is what advertisers pay RU-vid on average for 1.000 Monetized views. All views are not monetized for a variety of reasons. One of the biggest being that if RU-vid ran ads everywhere possible for every video, the user experience would be horrible. Also, not all views are on platform. Then factor in that RU-vid pays the creator 55% of every dollar they make from ads on long form content. RPM represents what a creator can expect to receive on average for 1.000 views overall bringing all of those factors into play.

If RU-vid "give creators 55%" maybe my math is wrong but it feels like we're getting about 45.7% in rev. 4.78/10.45 *100 = 45% (just breaking down here to make sure my logic is right)... Nowadays we could really use the extra 10% :D lol Who could not, are we doing something wrong?

Again, you're missing one important factor... not every view is monetized whether you have EVERY SINGLE VIDEO running ads in YPP or not. That means less than 100% of that $10.45 applies to your monetized views. That number only represents the average CPM of views where ads are actually being displayed. If someone watches three videos in a row, the first two which have displayed ads, RU-vid might choose NOT to show ads on the 2nd or 3rd video (or both) so that the viewer experience isn't blasted with ads every video. So RPM includes ALL views, whether ads were shown or not. That metric was designed to let creators know what to expect for revenue on total view count because of questions like this one.

Featured music can really make a video but I hate videos where there's background music droning on while the presenter is speaking. If it's good music it distracts from what they're saying and if it's naff music it distracts from what they're saying. Admittedly I'm one of those folks who gets pulled so deeply into music that I rarely listen to lyrics unless they're Bohemian Rhapsody good. My apologies to lyricists who rip open their hearts and pour their souls into the words! 😊

I think so, one of my used to be favorite RU-vidrs start putting this crunchy music in the background while she tells a story and I can’t even focus on what the story is. It’s horrible. Property as in like an actual property line? Like on a 3D map of an acre of land? Filmora is less able to do keyframed motions like that. Resolve can handle it easily though it relies on knowledge of the editor.
