These guys are legends, don is always so nice and chatting to everyone in line. Really care about their customers and their food over everything else. Also screw Bayswater council.
This place is awesome. Their open birthday Saturday is hype - 1500+ folk rocked up. Took us about 6 hours to get served and it was worth every minute. People rock up with chairs, tables, eskies, good humour and patiently wait their turn. Ran out of the burnt ends and sausage rolls.
I was lucky enough to get big dons in the early days of the food truck pretty often. Once or twice we’d rock up too late, and so don would come out himself, apologise that they’d pretty much ran out and give us whatever they had less for free. Top guy, top service and obviously insane food
I remember all the hoo-ha around the backyard shenanigans in Vic park (if my memory serves). Congrats on your success Don. Genuinely inspiring entrepreneur/small business story. The one day a week makes it hard to come for a visit, but one day it'll happen!
i cant judge all of australia but big dons is the only good bbq in perth. Their methods cant be beaten because its the only correct way to cook and serve bbq.
The trick is to get on his website right before he says the tickets will be on sale. So if he said 7 pm monday, get to his website, maybe 6:45pm, and keep refreshing the tickets will eventually pop up :)
had Dons meats back in the Baysie Bowls Club fathers day zone. Quality Q made by people who love what they do. Also, the acronym for his biz is BDSM, so you know you are going to have a good time!!
with that micro availability its actually a turn off.... im sure the product is top quality stuff, theyre certainly doing well from the business model and all power to them, but the ridiculously small timeframe means i'd go looking for something else thats close enough and actually accessible.
I'd personally rather have micro availability but good quality food, than all week availability but par average food. But that's just my opinion. Just need to be prepared to wait until events open up. I might try and get a spot for next week before I fly out of Perth.
Love the fact he’s created a business that is dedicated to quality and done on his terms there are always other options to take if can’t wait to eat ! Well done 👍 more cuisine like this needs to flourish in Perth
@@damodoesall6240 it really doesn't. they have the biggest bbq set up in WA, possibly the world, and can't keep up. Perth's best bakery (Last Crumb, quite nearby) just closed two days a week as they can no longer keep up with demand while maintaining high quality. They are pushing excellence, and that always takes patience.
