Driftor saying he’s pushing 40 makes me feel god damn old myself. I turned 30 this year and I’ve been watching you since the Halo days. Glad you’re still around man
Small maps are kinda like donuts. They’re really delicious if you eat them every once in a while but if all you eat is donuts then you’re going to feel very sick, very fast. Plus, the sameness of only eating one food will numb your dopamine receptors to that food. Variety is what keeps your dopamine receptors firing.
I think there are 2 maps that require thought about flanking. The others are just to small and there’s just to much going on with respawns for that to even be a thing on other maps
The really big problem for me about bo6, is the bad desync, I’ll be shooting an enemy for what feel like 5 seconds and then they just turn around and kill me near instantly, this needs to be addressed as it’s really starting to bug me
Same here. I could deal with all the other BS if the desync wasn’t so bad. It feels bad to hit someone with 6+ hit markers and then get instant killed in what feels like 1 shot. Then the killcam shows you hitting them 1-2 times. 😂
Lag, netcode, desync is the biggest problems for me, granted I don't have the best internet bc I live in the outskirts of my city n won't get fiber til January, I am able to play every other game just fine, even bf2042 with 128 ppl, it seems like texture streaming is the issue at least for me, I wish we could still turn it off
Yeaaaaars ago you made a video about your low T levels and how hard it was to figure out what was going on as a young guy, it really stuck with me for some reason. Now as a mid 20s guy myself i was going through similar symptoms as you which led me to remember your video and go get my own T levels checked which came out as incredibly low for someone my age. I've been on TRT for a few months now and it feels like i have my life back, thank you for that video all those years ago.
I'd highly encourage you to find out what is causing your low T. My doctors told me as long as we fix the levels there was no need to investigate the root cause. Unfortunately, my root cause ended up being something much worse.
A doctor told you there’s no reason to find the root cause of a serious overarching medical condition effecting your entire life? I’d find a real doctor not a western pill-pusher. 😢
@@Drift0r I'm in the same boat. Was told it was either a brain tumor or we don't know. MRI came back negative for tumors so I was told they have no idea why.
The potential of bo6 is insane. I don’t have any complaints gameplay wise besides the maps. If the maps were better I would consider it up there with bo3
Tracking is tough, and the TTK is VERY long for it. I highly recommend Hardcore. There IS a lot of visual noise in this game, and character visibility is pretty low, especially on some maps.
These shipment clones are just another facet of catering to their target audience. Everything in CoD MP is nowadays centered around ADHD tiktok Timmies.
Netcode is terrible for me in this game. Successfully flank an enemy and get two shots on target, but then they can turn and kill me before my next two rounds have fired. SBMM makes playing solo unbearable. Feels more punishing than ever. The small chaotic maps and medium maps feel fun and appropriate for the movement/gunplay. The large porous maps are so out of place. Ignoring objectives and camping a far corner of the map with a sniper seems to happen a lot. Gun balance feels pretty damn good. Most guns have a purpose and are worth using. Leveling (especially weapon leveling) is god awful and slow. Movement feels awesome. It's legitimately fun just to run, slide, and dive around.
Been following for years now. I myself am pushing 30 and finding it harder every year to fight against the movement demons on PC. Feels like this is a controller game through and through. Always appreciate your perspective and commentary. Hope you’re enjoying the grind this year.
Man I still remember driftor making the mw2 in depth videos on machinima and him explaining that his mic sounded weird "BECAUSE MY STUPID DOG ATE MY MICROPHONE", good times, god time sure does go by
Totally agree that the base game maps would play better with 4v4/5v5, but I feel like people would get weirdly outraged by if Treyarch ever made core multiplayer smaller than 6v6. No statistics/source for this, just a feeling. Here's hoping that the DLC maps will have a bit more breathing room... P.S. Congrats on the successful surgery and rapid recovery. It's good to see you this healthy after all these years, hopefully things continue to get better for you.
Hey man, first I’m glad you’re healing fast and smooth. Definitely felt it when you said that you’re just getting older and playing COD is just harder now for reasons that are outside of your control. Been watching you since BO2 in depth. Like, you said that and I had to remind myself that I started playing COD over the summer before I went into middle school. I’m a grown man with a day job now that plays COD with my colleagues after work 😂😭 I used to coach COD for college esports, so I can kinda keep up with omnimovement, but man I still struggle. I can attest that it’s significantly harder to play on PC, and watching shroud struggle kinda validated me a little. I know that you say COD would literally crumble if it tailored towards older gamers, but I think it would really help your brand to tailor your content towards the older audience that still wants to enjoy COD. Don’t overlook how inspiring it is that you went from barely being able to use your hands to still being able to game like the rest of us. You probably have more tips and tricks than anyone on how to change your physical setup to be more ergonomic and friendly, especially for those who also experience joint pain and other symptoms during long gaming sessions. You could also turn your journey to better understanding the potentials of omnimovement into a series. It would be really engaging to your audience if they were able to struggle and learn to excel at omnimovement alongside you. That’s all I got! Best of wishes to you,
I’m only going to be 27 and I don’t even think I’ve kept up with where CoD has gone. I miss the MW3 to BO4 days. Way better era I think. Games actually had character instead of feeling like they copied their friends homework and changed a few words.
You’re missing out. I’m 28 and have played almost every call of duty. They have been in decline for awhile now but BO6 has made them relevant again. Plus nuketown is back this Friday so 🤷♂️
Man, you just summarized it perfectly.. I catch myself being behind the learning curve of these games and I'm stuck thinking about these old games, where you had so much time actually thinking about what you were doing. COD is just not for me anymore
I think the weakest part of this game right now is the maps. Some of these maps are suffering from the huge spawn issue that MW2019 had which leads to spawn killing and boring Dom matches
Glad you’re doing good. Remember the creepy stories like yesterday, you were the main guy i watched back in those days. Hope you have another epic dream you decide to tell us about!
We are about the same age, I’m 36 and I agree with the end of your video. This game has passed me by and I’m just not good enough anymore and I don’t have the time to get better and it’s been super eye opening with BO6.
So glad your doing better in all aspects of your life! been watching and following you for gosh, years. Keep it up and keep going, ill always be here waiting for the next video!
40 yr old gamer here myself. Get old sucks, lol, but we need to keep up with the young gamers to keep our minds sharp. I probably will never use the omni movement in BLOPS6 and will rely on my sightline and map movement to overcome as much as I can. Love ya Drift!
been a minute since i watched you driftor im glad youre still doing good and uploading, thanks for all the content over the last, 12 years man ive grown old with ya
You and Nero brought up the omnimovement and aiming problems when players are sliding around fast. I agree and would argue it’s not entirely omnimovement but more so sliding. I think running in any direction feels nice
If this game had no SBMM, I feel we could have a really good COD game. The maps are underwhelming, but we still have seasonal updates that could fix that. For me, SBMM is the main thing that hold this game back.
Been watching you for a long time my guy. So happy you're feeling better and getting things figured out. I'm getting pretty old too and find that I just have to play CoD in way shorter bursts than I used to. My hands can't take extended sessions anymore and there's more to life than CoD anyway. I still love the game and enjoy it but I think it's better for me overall to play for an hour or so a couple times a week.
I think part of why the maps are designed this way or feel “small” is due to the Omni movement and it it affects our perception of distance and space. If you removed omnimovement and tac sprint, these maps feel quite big with really wide play spaces
it baffles me they didnt make the maps bigger, BO3 and AW both changed their map design to accommodate their new movement systems, yet for BO6 we seem to be going backwards...
@@autofigure00the thing is, I think they did. The maps all feel designed for omnimovement. There are a lot of awkwardly large rooms, strangely wide hallways, huge doors, etc etc. It’s just the way modern cod maps are designed now. Simplistic, 3 lane, sort of bland and uninteresting. After the backlash to 2019 and the craze over Shipment playlists, I doubt we will see more complex map design again.
I feel like you hit the nail on the head, these maps were designed for 4v4 to be good for MLG and competitive and I think will actually play really well in ranked mode when it comes out
As a 54 year old gamer a week out from a broken knuckle, i feel your pain, literally. I'm probably in the minority, but I like every regular map except Red Card. That map is a mess. Of course, I'm also the weirdo who loved Advanced Warfare. The maps have flow, power points, counter routes, etc. Being a Dom and Hardpoint player, these maps remind me of the intense Hardpoint games on Comeback and Riot. The face-off maps are another story. Stakeout is hilarious and gross at the same time. And the spawn trapping on Babylon is beyond broken
Agree with most of your opinions. But it's worth pointing out that with aim assist it's really really difficult to track enemies when they use boosts of movement that are available in this game, that's not just a kbm problem - only with kbm you have a far greater range of movement to adjust your aim compared to an analogue stick.
Same, when this game goes in my favour I have a great time but I also miss the more strategic plays you could make in a game like bo3 it felt much more rewarding imo
A lot of the maps have insane headglitch positions that overlook giant swaths of open ground. They are positions where you can get there and just dominate if or until you are grenaded, run out of ammo, or someone with Ninja runs up behind you. I also agree there are generally too many places to get shot from, especially in the open. I've been running the tactical wildcard and spamming smoke grenades, but even if I spam all 3 in different directions, there is bound to be someone staring down a different angle where the smoke doesn't help.
I'm struggling to even get through the camo grind, the spawns and maps are so bad that I'm just not interested. I do like camo grinding on Shipment of course, but there's only one or two maps that are structured like that where you can at least post up and get some work done, these are just cluttered random nonsense. Usually I grind camos and then play competitive, and hopefully 4v4 on some of these maps will be ok, but I'm not optimistic. I just can't believe they spent 4 years on this game and this is what we got. That completely blows my mind.
it feels like ever since ColdWar the enemy player models have gotten smaller, they add 10 different headglitches in a lane, the maps all have low visibility, and guns all have weird visual recoils along with a crap ton of gas ejection clouding your aim.
Thanks for the good review! It is as i expected from the beta, the other problems can be fixed, but the map design is what it was. I liked the gunplay and the movement alot, i think in those areas, it's the best cod in so many years. But the maps are designed for absolutely braindead gameplay, and it kind of makes the rest of it pointless. It is pretty clear it's designed purely for grinding those stats for challenges and camos. Not for actual engaging/competitive gameplay. Might still have to pick the game up at some point, for the zombies.
I’m 22 and fully agree on the maps. They’re participation award maps. They want little Timmy to be able to get his 5 free kills due to terrible spawns every game.. they’re rewarding players for throwing grenades from spawn because they wanna make sure even terrible players can find some form of success.
You don't seem to get it. COD has to appeal to the most amount of people humanly possible in order to justify it's development costs between 3 different development teams. I'm not disagreeing with you that the maps need work, however I still think these "brainrot" maps are way better than the much slower paced extremely camper friendly maps I last played on MW19. Never going to pay full price for a COD game again but since I have game pass I decided to give it a shot. Omnimovement can be sweaty occasionally but i generally prefer it compared to constantly dying to a guy posted up in his scope/optic constantly holding the same angles. The anount of times I've outmanuvered and had better aim while moving to get kills on people camping/holding angles is extremely satisfying but that's just me personally because I like to run around, far from perfect game but i definitely think it has potential.
People don't play shipment to play cod, it's pretty much designed as an XP farm like a MMO game. Xp farms are supposed to be boring and pointless feeling like grinding. When I get my double XP tokens I load shipment 24/7 but if I don't have 2x XP I never touch shipment playlists. I don't think people actually enjoy primarily playing shipment style maps. They're just treating it like something you have to do to grind faster and get the guns and attachments you really want or maybe to try out the high killstreaks if they're not a great player and never get 10 kills without dying in another map.
I've been on PC and mouse and keyboard since 1996 I grew up playing quake quake 3 arena and stuff so this kind of takes me back in a sense which feels good but also I'm 37 so I don't have that reaction time like I used to I'm loving the game but the biggest issue is the maps
The balance is good, except for shotguns. God shotfuns are AWFUL. They're incredibly slow, clunky, have double or almost tripple the sprint out times of SMGs and they are incredibly inconsistent. Even with maxed attachments they still feel clunky and inconsistent.
The 2 absolute biggest issues right now is spawns and map size. Almost every match I find myself getting spawn killed or spawning right in the middle of a gun fight. If there were 2-3 small maps alright thats fine but it’s damn near half or more and the rest are medium at best.
The amount of times you die from a flank within seconds of spawning is unbelievably bad. Spawns flips are so unpredictable and wild it completely dissolves any flow and makes every game operate at the same pace as shipment. It really makes me appreciate MWIII's suite of classic MW2 maps.
I finally got my copy this morning but unfortunately I'm working a 12 hour shift. Can't wait to get off work tonight and play. I'm a freaking week behind everyone else.
Upscaling is fine for me, adds around a 30% performance increase, although there is a visual bug when selecting DLSS in the menu that reports FidelityFX CAS enabled when it's running DLSS. The menu visual bug is not related to the performance issues. I have noticed that since the update overall performance dropped for me regardless of using an upscaler or not.
I haven't even bothered this year, I got it free on gamepass and I haven't even downloaded it yet. As soon as everyone said they were tiny maps and you spawn die like shipment. (You are not the first person to say this to me.) I decided it was a hard pass, I hate those types of maps. BTW glad your surgery went well.
I really enjoy it. I am learning as a better than average PC player, certain weapons simply don't bode well for me. So I use what weapons work well for me. I maintain a 1.70 KD (since launch with 1-2 hours of play per day).
Never had 1KD in my entire life in CoD and now I have in BO6. SBMM in this game is so fcking crancked up that it's not playable, it's not fun at all. And where are all XDefiant haters? No hate on CoD about netcode? Oh... 🤡
I actually really like the small/chaotic maps (I've ALWAYS been a fan of small/chaoitic maps dating back to the original Rust map on MW2), but I definitely understand why some people feel otherwise. I also acknowledge and agree with the dopamine hit/brain rot angle regarding these maps.
I agree with everything you said. Movement changes, TTK and maps definitely makes mouse and keyboard hard. I never play shooters with a controller, but I actually perform better with one in this game.
The brainrot in cod is so real... people being addicted to shipment 24/7 and other super small maps is the reason we got 7 more super mini chaos maps.. and now with bo6; 6 of the maps are small.. an additional 4 are mini and only 6 being considered medium.. but tbh even the medium maps are kinda small, looking at Scud and derelict
I don't even feel like the original design for these maps were developed by Treyarch. It's like IW made the map and then the Treyarch team came in a did the art. It's so bizarre.
Great review, I really feel like I'm incredibly similar to you in playstyle. Worried about how I'll do with this one because the last few have been brutal for me to get into. Is there any other game modes like war or ground war?
This COD has been the most fun for me since BO3!! You have to sweat for it to be fun though.. it’s hard to want to play with some of my casual friends because if they don’t know to setup and break spawn traps, game’s unplayable. I’m either going 80-10 or 30-40 and it really just depends on which team can spawn trap better.
Wow finally someone who speaks the truth. Unfortunately for me the optimization feels very bad tho . Also I find the fact that you get a stungrenade effect every single time you take damage while holding your knife, absolutely stupid it is already so much more risky and difficult to enter melee range
Man idc what anyone says, texture streaming is causing alot of network issues for this game, for me it makes it nearly unplayable alot of the time, it's BS that we can't turn it off no more!
