I prefer Breath of the Wild because the sense of adventure is huge and I like the story more. Tears of the Kingdom is great, but it lacks this sense of adventure that I like so much. Part of the problem is actually the ultrahand... Tears of the kingdom is more a game of creating things.

@@netweed09I agree. That's an odd observation and claim that it "lacks sense of adventure". I have explored far more of the Totk map than I ever did in Botw. There is a lot more things in between everything but that's a positive to me, Botw was so empty that it was bound to be changed in Totk.

@@Ben-zg8xkthat’s exactly how I feel about ToTK. The gameplay of ToTK is crazier and more creative, but BoTW offers the greater experience. One thing BOTW also got right was after defeating a Blight Ganon of the Divine Beast you were trying to free is that you unlocked a memory that focused on the champion that piloted the Divine Beast TOTK doesn't really have this as the first four temples just show you the same cutscene but with a different character there isn't a unique memory or anything however the Spirit Temple did actually get this right but that's very late game because you have to go through each temple solve the puzzles of the temples and beat the boss in every temple and then beat another challenging boss fight just to be able to get access to the Spirit Temple

This may be controversial as I’ve seen many people in polls say they love the TotK temples more than the BotW divine beasts, but I prefer the BotW versions as they share more of a common theme and have a way more/better story to them. A big thing with totk is Nintendo didn’t WANT its fan base to find any movement glitches, they even patched a bunch of the glitches the fans found. It was a huge slap in the face for the fan base. It’s also IMPOSSIBLE for a lot of movement glitches because of hard cut speed limits nintendo put in the game.

Totk also did a terrible job at continuing BOTW’s story, just removing every single piece of ancient tech for no reason. How u view the games mostly depends on which u played first. I played totk first so going back to botw felt like a downgrade. It was a still a good game but I don't really like the aesthetic of the guardians and Sheika tech, and it's everywhere, even the bosses. Also it kinda sucks to get around without glitches. And fuck calamity ganon, it was so boring of a fight, removing half the health of an already easy boss as a consequence of playing through the game was such a stupid idea. My 3 biggest issues with ToK is the reskin of turning everything Sheikah into Zonai; Ultrahand, towers that launch you into the air, and simply jumping off of and gliding from Sky Islands made actually exploring Hyrule irrelevant; and my biggest one was how pathetic Constructs were compared to Guardians. The thrill and fear of facing a guardian and the joy of defeating it just doesn’t exist with even Flux Constructs.

Nobody is saying BotW feels more like a classic Zelda game. Nobody. TotK has a better story....that does not at all fit the format in which it was told. Non-linear story telling does not work with the linear story with plot twists that TotK presents. First time I played the game the second memory I discovered...was the memory of Zelda deciding she would become a dragon, completely spoiling the entire story, outright ruining the main quest that revolved around trying to find out what happened to Zelda...it also completely falls apart the second you realize there's no reason at all Rauru couldn't have told you everything right at the begining. BotW has a much simpler story, but it fits much better with the type of games these are. Knowing the end of the story and finding memories that fill in the gaps of the protagonists amnesia that just add context and elaborate on the events you already know happened works much better for a game that tells it's story in a completely non-linear format. There is not a single memory that you find in BotW that spoils the story and breaks the immersion. TotK on the other hand requires the player to completely go out of their way to collect the memories in their specific order AFTER doing all four of the main dungeons just to preserve immersion and have the story presented in a that doesn't give away the massive plot twist. Tl;dr: TotK has a deeper and better written story that fails to be bettwe than than its predecessor's simpler story, purely because of the way this gameplay format fundamentally presents story.

BOTW also has more cool missions, the sidequest are more memorable, I remember finding that dragon on the moutain, freeing him was so cool, terrey town is also such a cool mission, there is nothing like this in TOTK, bascally every sidequest is just helping a NPC to get something, it's pretty boring. Great content as always. I feel like you glossed over the lead-up to Temples. If you are speed-running the game to get to the boss fight, as you say, I can see it being tedious. To each his own. I thoroughly enjoyed BotW and it’s a top 5 all-time game for me. That said, I don’t care to ever go back to it after TotK, apart from maybe a trip down nostalgia lane. Tears is better on every level for me, minus that first-time “wow factor” of exploring a completely unique landscape. Even so, exploring TotK’s world still had plenty of first time wow moments for me, whether it was the cave systems, the Depths, different Sky Islands that were unique (diving challenge islands, low gravity labyrinths, etc.), towns that were drastically altered due to the regional phenomena, or the more organic-feeling and much better designed temples and their lead-ups. Lastly, I know I’m not alone in saying… I don’t care about glitches, mods, or challenge runs. I’ve been gaming since the ‘80s, and that stuff holds basically zero weight for me in the final analysis of a video game.

I hardcore agree with you. When I first went into a cave and saw a bunch of new enemies and a new places to experience within the main map, it blew my mind. Even months after, having only just opened some new paths, I get a sense of awe every time. There's one cave specifically that starts at a well and opens into the beach on the bottom of the map and it dropped my jaw to end up there. I understand there's a huge community for mods, glitches, challenges, etc, but to say this game doesn't have the wow factor is crazy to me. It's a better written story, but it does not fit this style of gameplay nearly as well as the story BotW tells. If you don't go out of your way to specifically collect the memories in the right order than the story spoil a itself hard, and if you don't wait to do this until completing almost all of the main quest then it renders it entire main quest nonsensical. BotW's story was much more simple and shallow, but it's a better story for this kind of game. Every memory in BotW just provides context for the events you already know happened. The story cannot be spoiled if you collect them out of order nor is the main quest ruined if you get them all before completely the main areas. Knowing what lead up to the Calamity doesn't change or ruin the context of Links stopping the Devine beasts. Know the princess is actually a dragon flying around in the sky completely ruins the mystery narrative TotKs main quest presents. The sad thing is that could have Bern completely nullified if there was a dialogue option to tell everybody what you knew and have the sages be like "huh, no shit...since you're already here and we're buddies, help me save my home from Ganondorfs bullshit?" And have the mories presented in the correct order regardless of what gliffs you're getting them from.

Here is my Breath of the Wild vs Tears of the Kingdom comparison: Abilities - ToTK Combat - ToTK Shrines - ToTK Towers - BoTW Dungeons - BoTW = ToTK Bosses - ToTK Main Story - BoTW Characters - BoTW World and Exploration - BoTW Side Quests - BoTW Rewards - ToTK Music - BoTW Replayability - BoTW I think BoTW is the more complete experience, because it felt like every corner of the world had something unique to see. ToTK’s world felt very tedious because it’s the same Hyrule, and the Sky and Depths felt incomplete even though they were supposed to be the main selling points of the game. ToTK improves on a lot of aspects of BoTW; however, BoTW felt like an open world game we had never seen before, which is why it had more of an impact on me and many others.

My opinion: Abilities: TotK- BotW's abilities are good, but TotK's are a lot more creative. Combat: TotK- Ultrahand brings so many more ways to approach combat, and there's a lot more enemy variety. Shrines: TotK- The only thing that is worse about the shrines are challenges and music, but TotK's are a lot more creative, plus Proving Grounds are miles better than the Tests of Strength. Towers: BotW- Tears of the Kingdom's towers are way too annoying because there's always a stupid puzzle with it, and BotW's tower music and simplicity is better. Champion/Sage Abilities: BotW- Every single ability in BotW is better than TotK's counterpart, Daruk is better than Yunobo, Mipha is better than Sidon, Urbosa is better than Riju, and Revali is a little bit better than Tulin. Dungeons: TotK- I never played the classic Zelda games, and I really liked the dungeons. Definitely harder than the Divine Beasts, I needed a guide for Naboris, but in TotK I needed a guide for Wind Temple and Lightning Temple because me stupid Bosses: TotK- I loved the bosses in both games, but TotK's boss rematches let me fight them a lot more, but for BotW I need a whole new playthrough to fight Kohga and the Blights again. I guess TotK didn't let you refight Kohga, Seized Construct, Moravia, and Sludge Like, but, eh. Main Story: BotW- I like the simplicity of BotW's story, and AoC made me like it even more. World and Exploration: BotW- Man, that magical feeling of exploring BotW's world for the first time... need I say more? Side Quests: BotW- I think the side quests were more creative in BotW, such as Tarrey Town, Eventide Island, and Korok Trials. Rewards: TotK- Resources are much more valuable in TotK because of Fuse. Music: TotK- Lot better soundtrack with songs like Colgera and Demon Dragon. Replayablity: BotW- I just love the classic feeling of BotW, however, TotK is better for challenge runs because of Fuse and new armor sets. Overall: TotK- If you saw my other comment, I think TotK barely wins because it has more content, but the two games have equal flaws. However, BotW's first playthrough is way better than anything in TotK.

Wow, I didn't expect to agree with everything you said in this video when I clicked on it - except I don't think it's fair to compare the two on account of mods, since TOTK is still so new and the community hasn't had a chance to develop more content. (More copium lol) I'm still playing through ToTK so this isn't my final assessment of the game, but you hit the nail on the head when you called it "tedious." I never once resented my exploration of BoTW and enjoyed every single hour I sank into my save file. While ToTK certainly has some incredible moments and mechanics, it can be so incredibly frustrating at times which sucks the joy out of the game for me and leaves me feeling slightly exhausted. It may be worthy of being called the GOTY, but BoTW just has a special place in my heart and its magic cannot be easily replicated. Also, as cool as the sages are, I really miss the champion abilities and my infinite supply of bombs 😭

They say once you leave, you can never truly come back home. Breath of the Wild is that childhood home you grew up in, with all your friends and loved ones frozen in time, always there for you to return to. It's simplistic and flawed, and when it was all you ever knew, you always imagined that it could be more, but you were still happy with it. Tears is like your parents came into some money and did major renovations when you went away for college. You come back home a few years later and everything is remodeled, bigger and better and more spacious. It's lovely, and you enjoy the new amenities, but your parents have new friends now, all your neighborhood friends have moved away long ago, everything is different enough to where you aren't really coming 'home' anymore, you're going over to your parents house. Luckily, unlike real life, these are pieces of art which are not bound to any organic or chronological decay, so Breath of the Wild is like the childhood home you can always return to, just how you left it. It's not perfect, and you'll always wish there were a few improvements, but at least it's home.. not your parents house.

Idk which one I like better it’s a hard pick for me. But I’m disappointed in how hyped up the mater sword got in totk and it’s literally the same trash it was before dlc in botw and it doesn’t glow in dungeons which makes no sense to me because the bosses are gloom enemies at least you would think cause they are Ganondorfs creation. So the master sword got all this hype and it’s garbage. Plus I just want another trial of the sword because it was so fun to just do it.

I just really got tired of TOTK and having to get armors I had again and the novelty of building and attaching everything and never getting more unique and fun weapons just started making me feel like I was no longer playing Zelda but some hybrid megabloks or something with adventure thrown in. I got my Switch on October 8th, 2021. I got it for Metroid Dread, but also picked up Breath of the Wild. I also got Tears of the Kingdom on launch day. I tried Breath of the Wild early on, but just couldn’t get in to it. Bear with me… I went in expecting a traditional Zelda game. Breath of the Wild was just so different, I really didn’t like it. I bought Skyward Sword, and enjoyed that a lot more. With Tears of the Kingdom, I felt the same thing. It was just such an odd kind of game when I was expecting traditional Zelda. I appreciated both BotW and TotK, but I guess I just wasn’t ready for either one. Fast forward to today. I decided it was time I gave both games an honest try. Breath of the Wild is the first half, so I chose that one to start with. WOW! I cannot believe I have owned my Switch and both of these games for so long and haven’t played them. These games are incredible! I am in BotW now and cannot wait to dive into TotK when I am done. I’m in no hurry. I want to explore Hyrule and see everything both games have to offer. I guess I just had to be ready. Now, I am.

Whenever I think about replaying either of them, I would absolutely go with BOTW over TOTK. TOTK had the better story and the better dungeons, but it still wasn't what I would have liked from a Zelda game (themed dungeons, puzzles, etc). Also, the sky islands and depths didn't really add much to the game. Finally; if you do the tear memories then the whole 'what happened to Zelda' story makes NO sense anymore. They should have considered that. BOTW had a massive hyrule to explore, a clear focus, better heroes and fun mechanics. It did the Survival aspect very well and I liked being able to use my amiibo (of which I have way too many) for some fun easter egg rewards as well. Lastly, the building mechanic of TOTK was nice for content creators but it was really not for me.

We can all agree both games are great, and TOTK had potential to be better. I wish some of the old Pre-Calamity towns were rebuilt to make the game make intriguing and exciting, and possibly those towns being associated with the Upheval. I really wanted to see Kass, and I felt like the dungeons were hard, but their bosses were somewhat easy.

Just for replayability, TOTK has much more diverse enemy types. I agree the depths and sky islands could have more to them- at least the depths could have one more culture/race, I missed the Twili or Mole people, but the combat is more fun. BOTW is great on its own but too many simple enemy types. TOTK has depths that kinds serve as the master sword challenges for its reappearing boss fights, arenas and such. One thing I agree with is the ending-it’s harder to grind through for the army blockage which would be tough going to right away. I think TOTK is still overall the better game even with some flaws

BOTW was incredible from it's novelty, along with simplicity and order to it's concepts. It feels like TOTK used the same world and major laws, but by throwing in a lot more content at the sacrifice of order. I'm not sure if TOTK is ultimately a worse game than Botw, but I'll never call it a bad game overall. They both had their ups and downs. And I can't believe you thought the stories were too similar to make a difference. I can't count how many comments and reaction videos I've seen people crying in over that one plot twist. It was especially heartbreaking for me because of how gradually the realization hit me. It's definitely debatable, but I think TOTK's story is the better of the two.

Yeah it is, TOTK is a great game, but it no longer has the novelty factor that BOTW had, it's just more BOTW with enhancements. The thing that puts it under is the plot, i really feel TOTK was an afterthought plot-wise and they just needed an excuse to make a sequel to implement all the gameplay ideas left behind from BOTW's development. In BOTW the plot was better, the characters more interesting, the whole thing with the guardians and the ancient tech and all that imo is better than Rauru and the Zonai, there was a certain lingering mystery about the ancient tech and the divine beasts. With TOTK there's no mystery like that anymore and everything is just explained whilst some things that should be explained are not, like what was the Calamity about? How does ending the Calamity result in the Demon King rising again? What's the connection between them? Are we to presume it's all a coincidence these things happen in the same age?

Thing is let’s be real, if Totk released first the discussion would be the other way around. I mean it doesn’t make a great deal of sense as botw is so much smaller but what I’m saying does makes sense. Like totk is getting judged through the fact that it’s not a 7 year old game that blew everyone away and everyone waited 7 years for the sequel rising the expectations so high that totk was doomed to fail in some way. Botw is an amazing game. But I’ll always go to Totk over it.

My opinion Abilities: BOTW ( The champion abilities are much more powerful in BOTW, and in TOTK apart from the dungeons themselves where you have to use the sage abilities the only sage I actually use is tulin and in my opinion is better than Revalis Gale. I do believe that the slate abilities in ToTK are much better and creative) Dungeons and Bosses: TOTK (The Ganondorf fight alone makes it better than any boss in Botw and i felt like the dungeons were harder in Totk and felt more like a dungeon than the Divine beasts.) World Design: TOTK (I’m leaving nostalgia out of this since I feel like it affects the opinion of a lot of us and Although it’s the same base world with some changes ,I believe that the additions of the sky islands and depths it makes it objectively better than BoTw, although they are a bit empty it’s still was super cool and fun to explore ) Replay ability: TOTK (There’s more to do imo and you can do so many different inventions with the ultra hand abilities ) Overall content: BOTW (Simple it has DLC . Champions ballad , Master Mode and The Sword trials although TOTK has more to do in the base game no dlc is kinda sad and a missed opportunity) Overall :I think ToTK was a better game and a awesome sequel to a already amazing game. The sheer creativity of ToTk makes it better imo and it’s basically Botw with building. Obviously nostalgia blinds us all but it’s clear to me that Totk is a better game.

I prefer BOTW more because it feels better overall designed. The enemy and weapon placement with the terrain, straightforward abilities and even the storytelling and apocalyptic atmosphere were all built around that game while TOTK just built on BOTW and often feels off. The enemies were much more dangerous too, there was less variety but their ai were nasty until they got nerfed in TOTK. That disappointed me immensely. I will admit TOTK had some very nice additions, but fusing weapons all the time is annoying. Sometimes I just want to grab a weapon and go to town on enemies, not stop and go for every weapon and individual arrow. The story can also be majorly spoiled if you do certain things out of order, which is weird in an open world game. I don't regret buying the game though, it's still very good. Also Imao Guardians enemies are a blast to kill more than Construct enemies. BWEEEE

Basically agree. TOTK basically improves this current formula that BOTW started but I found BOTW was more fun to play when released. Admittedly I’m not a fan of the open world sandbox genre so having TOTK be more of the same hurt it for me. Dungeons/bosses Honestly both are disappointing. There are barely any enemies, most of which are the same across all dungeons. The dungeons tell you where to go to solve them and they can be easily solved due to the freedom of choice. But I have to give it to TOTK for having better boss variety and atmosphere. Abilities BOTW easily. Once again not a fan that abilities took over progression items but the stasis was fun. TOTK ascension and recall broke the game so the out of the box thinking was gone for puzzle when those two abilities. Minecrafting ability didn’t interest me too much either. World design. BOTW. I enjoyed exploring the world and discussing with my friends what we did. TOTK overworld was fine but we already explored it while the sky and depths were kinda soulless. Relatability. Tied. The games were one and done for me with no interest in returning. It’ll be interesting to see where they go from here. I’m hoping for more of a melding of the classic and modern formula.

For me, having more traditional bosses is a huge plus. Along with better dungeons, more content and side activities, and a better story. I love BotW for its simple beauty but TotK just improves in almost every area. It’s all personal preference to be clear, as I could see why some would prefer the more lonely vibe of BotW. What I’d love to see going forward is perhaps scaling down the map size a bit and add more linearity to the story while adding massive Twilight Princess style dungeons. That, or a new 2D game would be cool as well.

I think each has their own flaws, TotK fixed all of BotW's mistakes, but added some new ones. Tears has more content which I think makes it better overall, but nothing in video game history will compare to a first playthrough of BotW, as long as you play it before TotK.

And then when the next game comes out everyone can talk about how great the previous game was lol. That seems to always happen. Your opinion is your opinion but totk is better in almost every aspect imo. Better story, more lively world, more varied and memorable areas, much more fun and useful abilities. I guess the only argument that I couldn’t argue with is the glitches/mods and the speed-running ease (I guess), but I think most players don’t go down that route anyway. I just think it’s a better game for the larger audience. I still love BoTW btw, I just think the new game slightly outshines it. It is all just opinion though.

I love seeing and reading other peoples view on this game, but it definitely saddens me most people aren’t a fan of this game like they were for botw. I feel like Totk would have been a better game if we had the same sense of exploration and adventure that we did in botw, but you can’t get that with a copy and pasted map. In the terms of replay ability, of course there will be less in totk because there is not much NEW sense of adventure. I think totk is great, if you wanted a botw with different mechanics and a little more content. Everyone wanted a game just like botw, they provided. People wanted more frequent updates, they did but removed dlcs. To me all I wanted recreated, was the open world aspect, not the entire world. But I really enjoy totk and feel like it’s a polished up version of botw instead of a new Zelda game

That piano music from the ancient guardian spiders was terrifying while the ambient piano is so perfect. Love the Zora Kingdom and it was the 1st place I headed to in totk in which I was devastated to see polluted! Hyrule Totk seems a bit empty to me. Just not as many enemies. The whole Zonai tech is ok I guess though it's kinda gimmicky. But I love the new robot sage Minera. I absolutely HATE the depths. It's just depressing to be there. In terms of ease of use (AOE Lightning sage ability): Totk: Chase down Riju Press A on her without accidentally activating any of the other sages Wait for her lightning bubble to contain your target Pull out bow and aim at target Hope you hit the target with the arrow Lightning strikes the target and the few enemies next to target. Botw: Urbosa's Fury is up? Press and hold Y Wait for her lighting bubble to surround targets Release Y Lighting strikes all targets.

I prefer botw Because of this particular things… - Sky/Underground is really boring and repetitve in toto - Dungeons are really cheesable or have multiple Solution to them - I miss the old Champions + abilities - totk Champion abilities are really Bad, and the fact you have to talk to them before you can activate them is just ridiculous - I miss the Master sword-trials - Botws feeling and atmosphere is so much better - I dont like Totks Story - I didnt really care for the Memories in Totk, while i loved them in botw.

6:30 Wait, bro you can't just say that BotW has better mods than TotK in a video for which game is better. The mod creators could make them again in TotK 💀

😢 В тотк нет костюма Герудо, дурианов и бесконечных бомб. Очень жаль
