I love the idea of ganon building power for 100 years and being unstoppable and destroying hyrule and link wakes up and is like "gimmie 20 minutes"

Zelda: Link you have to be quick! Link 20 minutes later: *bonjour* Zelda: wtf-

The reason I love speedruns: Imagine being Ganon. You've defeated all of the Champions and built up power for 100 years. You get a report from the Great Plateau that Link is awake. 15 minutes later, you hear the sounds of battle outside your cocoon. It takes him 3 minutes to defeat your strongest generals that took out the strongest people in the world 100 years ago. Now before you stands the Hero, butt-naked and equipped with an assortment of weapons taken from the most fortified location in the world. You don't even know what happens in the battle. Your brain only has time to process the pain before you're lying on the ground in a puddle of your own malice. Gathering the last of your energy, you manifest your Dark Beast form. You are now the most powerful being Hyrule has ever seen. The Hero doesn't even seem to be trying. Now imagine being Zelda You've been desperately holding back Calamity Ganon for 100 years. Finally, you can sense Link waking up. You call out to him for help. For some reason you're speaking French now. You tell him that there isn't much time, and to get to you as quickly as possible. Of course, you expect him to prepare. Restore the divine beasts, reclaim his sword, spend a while getting stronger. It might take him a few months, but you're confident you can hold back Ganon at least that long. Suddenly, your body materializes and you see Link, in his underwear, standing over the body of Calamity Ganon It hasn't even been half an hour. (In French) "Link, what the fuck?" He doesn't seem to be listening.

King hyrule: "it would be quite reckless to head directly to the castle" Link: "aight bet"

PointCrow: "not possible for the average person to do this" *BOTW Speedrunners 4 years later:* _"that's actually a slow pace, we do these 50 other tricks to make it faster"_

Man screams profanities at a grunting naked man blowing himself up, defeating the ultimate evil and ignoring the laws of physics for 18 minutes 47 seconds

"It's time for school!" "One second, lemme just beat BotW real quick"

Imagine Revali watching the random hylian solider he looked down upon literally one shot the giant mechanical monstrosity that killed him a hundred years ago after less than half an hour of prep time

I'm just over here after it took me 2 years to beat ganon.

"I wonder, do you remember me at all?" - Zelda *Link backflips out of reality*

Zelda: "Yeah I held ganon here for 100 years, I can hold him for as long as you need to train." Link: "I don't know who I am. I don't know why I'm here. All I know is that I must kill. Give me 20 min"

2 years later, and world record is only 58 seconds slower than what used to be an insane theoretical. the limit that this game has been pushed to is absolutely nuts

Ganon builds power for 100 years in preparation for his takeover of hyrule. Then proceeds to lose to a man who napped for 100 years, woke up, and chose violence....all within 20 minutes.

Zelda struggling to keep Ganon contained for 100 years and Link kills him within 30 minutes of waking up.

Lets be real here, The impressive thing is that he was able to watch a 22 minute speed run in 18 minutes.

I love the idea of Link not losing any memories and just waking up in the shrine. Demanding that the spirit of the king gives him incredible weapons, no armour necessary. A paraglider and then just fully booking it to Calamity Ganon. I reckon you’d get him in about 15 minutes then give or take.

Bullet time is the most broken mechanic to be implemented into BOTW. There’s SO many janky ass things you can do

I'm definitely going to defeat Windblight Ganon with this method from now on. Killing it with one single arrow is the ultimate insult to Revali XD

Being pretty good with bomb launches at a casual level, I nearly puked when I saw some of these launches here. Literally laughing out loud at how ridiculously skilled this runner is. Took me hours of tinkering to get halfway decent at it, I can’t imagine the practice it takes to get to this level. Freak talent and obsessive work on display here.

It's like the infinity stones, you have to gather all the speedrun times in order to be the speedest speedrunner in the whole multiverse

Got this game a week ago and love it. It's insane you can finish it in less than an hour. I'm 30 hours in and scratching the surface.

This game has literally evolved beyond anything I can imagine. I often wonder if Nintendo themselves even knew if any of this madness was possible with this game.

Flying from the temple of time directly to hyrule castle is so satisfying

The flip to set up the bomb shrine windbomb was insane. If you've tried it yourself, that little peg is a pain in the ass to jump onto and it takes time to set yourself up perfectly. That guy just does a frontflip and lands on it perfectly. Insane. The RNG BTB to Cryonis is probably the hardest maneuver though.

One of my favorite parts of this is that it switched which speedrunner we’re watching for the dialogue at the end of a shrine…. That guy’s legacy in this video is skipping shrine dialogue.

I just want to know Zelda's reaction to Link doing this absurd shit. Dude woke up from his magic, rejuvenation coma and just went to work. Zelda: Didn't even have time for pants huh? Link: Hyahh!

As someone who has tried one-shotting Windblight before, I just lost it at 12:13. That was the absolute craziest part in the video for me.

Im not going to be playing the game anytime soon (dont have a switch and have forbidden myself from buying one until im out of grad school) , so the tricks wont be useful to me but dang it was really interesting to hear about! but seriously, love the commentary. I would have been mystified and lost watching instead of mystified and amazed.

Your reaction was exactly what I felt. Especially setupless Cryo BTB. And the craziest thing is that “v1” implies for a much better run, which to be honest it can still be optimized!! Also, a tiny difference from the ESC performed in Stasis and Bombs Shrines is that they are Quick ESCs which involves shield clipping on a frame after Link jumps. The normal ESC is on Cryonis!

9:25 when i played breth of the wild first time getting praglider took me 20 hours

I was insanely impressed by that wind light skip, that was until I realized they switched people in that black screen moment between shooting the arrow and going into the cutscene, making it possible that the shot they took didn’t even work

I think it would definitely be cool if some games had speedrun categories that allow splices as long as it's the same player to basically compare everybody's theoretical best so far

Ok but the thing you learn by watching summoning salt is that By Saying "I don't think anyone can do this in one run" you've just guaranteed that someday someone will.

I remember doing windblight skip on gannon no prep. It was with a 3 shot bow tho

As someone fluently bilingual (French & English) I'm somewhat shocked to hear that the French dialogue ends up being faster. Translating from English to French will, almost always, result in it being longer and not shorter. As an example I did a quick test on 3 randomly copied texts of 600 to 750 words, and the French translation invariably ends up being 50+ words longer. But also, DAMNNNN 23 minutes...

I've never bonked against my horse, no wonder I don't have the world record speedrun!

Just got this game. Gonna play it soon. This is great. Now I know exactly how to beat it.

There's me thinking I'm doing okay on my first run and then I watch this. This is insane! I had no idea that you could even do these tricks XD
