No one is replacing Klay but I like the Buddy Hield signing.

Steph Curry only had 12 3-points made in 2019-2020 where he played only 5 games. Buddy Hield had the most 3-points made last 5 seasons 1322 to Steph's 1264 a lead of only 58 3-points made. Imagine if Steph was not injured in that season. He would have the lead and by a larger margin.

Believe me, Buddy is gonna get a lot more open shots with Curry as his teammate than when he did in Philly.. or anywhere else he's been for that matter.

Lots of people in here talking about how he had dnp in Philly, but that is a simplified take. Systems matter. Buddy fits the Warriors style of play really well. The Warriors are surrounding 2 of the best shooters in the league with "glue" players like Draymond and Kyle Anderson, who don't need their own shot but are good at keeping the ball moving and maintaining an offensive flow. No way Buddy is as good as Klay was 4+ years ago, but he is probably an upgrade at this point. The Warriors got better in the offseason, and have a lot of young talented players in Kuminga, Podz, TJD, etc. who have all steadily improved.

My Guy SAS it's not about upgrade it's about filling a position that was vacated. Golden State Warriors offered more he chose to leave therefore they are filling a position of need. The only reason why buddy has more 3s then Curry is due to Curry's injuries and being out so he's had more opportunity had Curry been present he most certainly would hit more threes... you said not the greatest move but a good move that's fair but what would have been the greatest move because if you're going to add a shooter who would you add? Because as you reported the best 3-point shooter other than Curry that you could have added would have been Buddy There is not a better 3-point shooter free agent or not in The Last 5 Years. So if you're going to replace a three-point shooter on your team he's the person that you go get. Now GSW has the two best 3-point shooters over the last 5 years on their team. I keep hearing people talk about how much Klay's dropped off "especially defensively" but I'm wondering if anyone actually watched the games? Klay last year was still a really good defender and had a lot of very good plays, the problem was how inconsistent he was on offensive from game to game.

Nothing against Buddy, but it appears to me that the Warriors are now engaging in the behavior of most of the league which is to randomly put players on a team and expect gold. Klay is definitely a lot cuter than Buddy Hield. Klay's legacy as a champion and defensive ace is sealed. Just because he is not what he used to be doesn't mean Buddy is the new Klay. I'm glad the Warriors got Buddy, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do on the team, but please do not disrespect the work ethic and resume Klay built in Golden State as one of their best players in the last decade.

Buddy’s best year is mid tier Klay based on stats. But I don’t think the Warriors want him to replace Klay. They want JK to step up big this year so he can be a 3rd or 4th option.

Buddy Hield is not an upgrade from Klay Thompson. With Steven A fails to mention is Stephen Curry over the last five years has been injured. He hasn’t played any games or more since 2014-15 season. Buddy he over the last two seasons of average 12 points. That’s nothing in today’s day and age.

We haven't seen Buddy in a system that intentionally generates the offense FOR HIM. That being said, he can't guard like Klay did in his heyday. We'll likely see a lot more Brandin Podziemski than Buddy Hield in terms of minutes.

He's also a lot cheaper than Klay. In other words, he's not a Klay replacement. Which is fine. There's a reason these elite players get payed so much, because most people can't replace them. However, having a good shooter will help with the depth of the team. Especially as Curry will need to be double teamed, Kuminga can drive and Draymond is basically a point guard in many ways. So having some who can catch the ball and get 4/10 of those shots in a game is massive.

I wanted another look at Buddy this season 🙂...Nurse benches him, puts him in, in game 6 against the Knicks, and he EXPLODES for 6-9 threes, 20 points...other reasons we still lost that game, but it certainly wasn't because of him 😂. Pent up energy from being sidelined by Nurse, or this dude's for real, I needed to have another look. Didn't hit it off with Nurse, it is what it is. The whole league freaking out over the squad being put around Embiid right now 😂...so it's all good!

For Klay's sake, hopefully the fresh start will do him good. I hate seeing him go but he has had these long stretches since he has come back from injury that feel like they are completely mental. Like he is just trying so hard to prove he is the player he was prior to injury that he will start playing outside of his game. Trying to create his own shot, force bad shots. Yes, he lost a step defensively understandably. When he gets out of his head and remembers who he is, he looks like himself. Maybe going to Dallas and not having all the baggage of what he had done prior and was trying to live up to in his own mind will allow him to just treat it fresh and just be Klay. No, Buddy is no Klay. But good chance we see a potentially more lethal version of Buddy than we have seen with most teams. If there is a team that knows how to utilize and create shots for top level 3 point shooters, it's GS.

Terrible move. As Kings fans, we had to endure over 3 painful seasons of Buddy's awful defense and low basketball IQ. The guy gets booed every time he comes back to SAC, and rightfully so. Yeah, he might've made all those 3's, but that doesn't tell you about his terrible shot selection, his negative +/-, his habit of chucking up shots whenever he felt like and the fact that the Kings eventually started to play better when they decided to have him come off the bench. Let's not even entertain a Klay comparison, that's just disrespectful to Klay.

Buddy Hield is a good 3 point shoot but cannot create separation to generate good looks. He lacks passing vision and cannot play defense. You would think he would of went off with the sixers being that Embiid draws double teams then kicks out for open look at the 3 yet Hield pretty much got benched in the playoffs cause he couldn't buy a bucket 🪣. Good argument. We know Buddy doesn't get the playing time since he was with Indy. Shooting wise, he is just another shooter on the floor which is a good pick up. Better than Klay? Not too sure on that. They both don't need the ball to score, but Klay is still better at D than Buddy. Buddy was never a defensive guy. Of course, we know Klay was elite on both sides.
