Truly a golden moment. As a bay native despite the “rivalry” I hope the kings get to experience the same. The league has been run by Lakers/Celtics and to see a team who hasn’t won in 40+ years suddenly become a dynasty was peak sports for me growing up. It’s still insane to look back on. Happy to say I got to see them in 2017 before Oracle Arena was no longer a thing.
Everyone online has been real quick to talk trash about Klay and how’s he’s been playing this season. The guy is still one of my favorite players ever. I truly believe he can turn things around and get back to being a very good player, even if not quite what his peak was.
Is a natural progression in pro sports, at some point your body just can’t do what it used to, from there it’s a decline, whether steep or gradual, it’s all downhill from there. Doesn’t change what you already accomplished tho.
Pretty much of a portion of those online’ people’ are probably androids, just for picking up some kind of agenda, otherwise it hardly explain the timing and pattern conformity they began to appear under some typical post about him or his team
He may be approaching the end of his career. But that doesn’t take away from the fact he was the perfect 3 and D player and best teammate any team could ask for during his pre injury career. He could have been a leader on his own team with how good he was.
@@vulcanraven9701inna way 2015 n 16 sure but he was a pup. Prime klay in 2018 v rockets n v raptors ( yeah we lost but game 6 klay was doinh work ) he was in his prime prime. Wish he never got hurt
@@adamdavis5383 i mean what's the problem of that? cleveland form a superteam with lebron kyrie and love in a very much weak eastern conference while the golden state draft their 3 out of 4 best player which is curry klay and green. you cannot change the fact that that most important players in golden state is drafted by their own team. while cleveland forming a superteam out of nowhere and nobody talks about that?
@adamdavis5383 Those rings still count and Cleavland had a Super team too. Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Jr Smith, Iman Shumpert. Seems like a super team to me.
Which is why people need STFU about him being finished. Dude may not be able to defend like he used to, but he can still catch and shoot. He's not had great shooting this season, but there's no telling. He might come off the bench and hit 6 straight 3s... or miss 6 straight 3s. Maybe he's not a starter anymore, but he can still be an exciting role player for another few seasons.
@@DavidGravesExists How about you STFU? Every shooter can still shoot and make buckets here and there, but it's about efficiency in which you just stated he's not doing well this season... Klay can make 5 three pointers in a game, but if he's shooting 5/15 than he's hurting his team more than helping. Casual scrub.
I'm almost 36yrs old and have been watching basketball for a good 30+ of those years. But I must say, Klay will always be one of my favorite players to watch, ever. I've never seen anyone who can get on fire like he can. It's literally unguardable and a joy to watch. Enjoyed watching this monster dynasty lineup be assembled and witnessed the NBA change forever. I really hope Klay gets his game back because I don't want his career to be over yet.
Wow. Lifetime Dubs fan here. But looking at the clips of Klay and Dray dunking a decade ago. Athletically it honestly is night and day. They still have the smarts, the fundamentals, and occasional shooting touch. But time comes for us all. It really does make sense why we're struggling right now and it's really sad.
He probably feels sick to be in Curry's shadow til now. He's starting to turn salty like Pippen turned on MJ lmao He wants to be respected by fans but he forgot that respect is earned not given He's been in his feeling for months now after getting benched from time to time by Kerr
Watched Klay Thompson drop 41 against the Timberwolves back in 2017. I am so blessed to have witnessed such a classic performance from an all-time player. He had scored so seamlessly that game, I remember it gave me whiplash when I looked up at the scoreboard. Make no mistake, Klay had one of the greatest primes EVER! And it flew under the radar because he played next to Steph Curry. Name another player who suffered TWO career ending injuries and came back to win another title? That determination and tenaciousness is a testament to his spirit! The people will never forget why you're so special! Happy birthday!
One correction to this video. The Spurs didn't win the title when they matched the Warriors on semi-finals at 2013. The Heat were the eventual champion that year.
Klay literally led the entire 2016 playoffs in " Total Points" as a 2nd option 😂 Dude literally outscored LeBron, who's the #1 scoring option in playoffs 😂. Don't forget
In my near 2 decades of following the NBA, I honestly haven’t seen anybody get hot from 3 like Klay, the man makes NBA range 3-pointers look like Pop-A-Shot when he’s in his element.
Klay is probably the most underrated player in league history. Fort my money, the dude is the second best 3 point shooter of all time behind Curry. And he was an amazing defender. The media downplays him, seemingly to help Curry's legacy. When my Rockets would battle them, Klay was the guy that killed us.
Watching this video reminds me of how incredible Klay was and how much I miss seeing him dominate on the court. Can't wait for his return and hope he regains his previous form.

He's the ultimate role player. He never really expand his game like a real star. He was the right player in the right time and context. It is what it is
its april 2024 and klay is playing really well. he has to work a lot harder to get out of slumps at his age and after two devastating injuries but he's still an amazing player - one of my favorite of all time.
@@onyxblack1167 But they aren't better than Klay at third point shooting but I get what you mean. The most underrated part about klay is that he doesn't need the ball, so that makes such a good piece for any championship team.
@@onyxblack1167What? MJ and Kobe aren’t 3&D they dribbled the air out the ball and was head of the offense. Klay doesn’t really need to have the ball to score.
@@stevefan915 Thinking about it now, klay is the best 3 and D at all time no matter whats his position just because he guarded the enemy best player every night at his prime and is one of the best third point shooter ever.
I still remember Klay still shot the freethrows in the finals despite hurting his ankle so much. Guy don't deserve a boo. But the fans did that to Thompson. Without Thompson GSW would not win any titles... That's absolutely I believe. Prime Klay can help other teams to win Championship. I'm still hurt how easily the people forget I'm not even a GSW fan.
Just looking at this video, you can see just how different his form is to how it is now. he can't get his legs under him anymore and there are some games where they're really really bad - to the point that his form completely changes because his arms over compensate. Klay WAS a traditional jumpshooter, and an occasional set shooter. being forced to flip that because of injuries and not having enough leg strength when having to switch back to the occasional jumpshot killed his percentages. Surprisingly, last year was his "best year" after a horrendous start. That means Klay can still be Klay in solid stretches but he can only go as far as his legs can take him. if his legs are, simply put, SHOT, then he has to rework his jumper from the ground up (which I doubt he will given his pride on his jumper). if he keeps trying to shoot this way with bad legs, they're just gonna be flat no matter how much backspin he puts on the ball.

Steph Curry is like the game breaking player in 2k but prime Klay Thompson was a player that can turn the sliders all the way up and never misses a single shot
Hope Klay sees this and hopefully gets his confidence back. He might have to change his game a little bit now cause of the injuries but I know he’ll bounce back. I just hope he bounces back sooner than later. Keep your head up Klay.
Prime Klay was insane. Prime Klay could literally fit on any of the 30 NBA Teams because he could shoot the shit out of the ball and also play fantastic defense. His defense got compromised after the 2 horrible injuries and his shot selection got worse because the 2 seasons he was out he developed a solid handle. Klay developing a handle ended doing more damage because he would now start taking impossible degree of difficulty shots with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. He’s still a solid player.
Klay was him bruh. If Clay never got hurt, even after Kevin Durant left, the Warriors are still the problem till this day. Healthy Prime Steph and Klay 😭😭

You got to do a video on how important Sean Livingston was to the Warriors! I remember multiple times when Steph and Klay were having a tough time getting hot Livingston would come off the bench catching fire and getting everyone inspired! I miss him bruh he was major to GSW and underrated too!
I was at the game where he hit 14 3's against the Bulls. It got to the point where everybody in the arena was rooting for Klay, even me one of the biggest Bulls fans out there. Never seen a performance like that live.
Klay is one of my favorite players of all time and I love him so much.. It's very tough to see the massive hate that he is getting and all the Warrior "fans" switch up like this.. He is the second best shooter of all time and I hope he ends up being a Warrior for life. I really don't want him to get traded, I believe that he'll pick it up and be more efficient and play great again.
Catch this.. I need a Klay Documentary. GSW must win this year's Chip. Regardless of his situation whether he stays or goes, he'll forever be a Warriors Legend and a docu cementing his alter-egos, mythical impact, and ever-amusing personality will be fitting. A championship will definitely make it sweeter.
This hits hard man. Prime Klay was a monster of his own when he enters Heat Check Mode. Sad seeing him struggle this season but I don't blame him, the guy had 2 major injuries but still came back to play, you gotta respect that
Was always such a consistent player. Solid on defense, showed up for the whole season, hit his shots. The year before his injury he was lacing 3's at 44%. I'm glad he bounced back and got a chip. That shit ain't easy.
Klay is my player when I think of the Warriors dynasty because I suffered a serious nerve injury around the same time as Klay went down in 2019. Klay's recovery was really motivating for me at a time when taking a step meant every muscle burned and walking over a short distance seemed like a marathon. My full recovery coincided with his return game, so I was hyped when Klay became another motivator to the Warriors on their way to getting the sweetest of rings.
He is passing through a post-trauma mental reconstructive period, it got a little harsh with the down performance of the whole team through the first half of this season, he will be ok
Klay in his age right now should still be in his prime.. I can't say its because of his injuries, because his not the athletic type that can affect him too much his a shooting star.. i guess the real factor was the game was progressing rapidly.. anyone now can almost shoot the ball like they did and the teams have also adjusted to the way gsw plays.. they're like an open book now that's why it's affecting his performance.
this is simply just not true. players have become better shooter but at the same time we can't just gloss over that complete lie you just told. he had two of the worst injuries you can have as a player, we see all the time that no one quite recovers the same after that. plenty of examples kobe, d rose, greg oden, etc... list goes on
@@kalenmarshall8692 i agree that he had the worst injuries sir, but kobe can still shoot. That's why I'm telling sir, kobe lost his athleticism because of injury but still had the ability to score. Klay is not as athletic as kobe he is purely a one or two dribble sharp shooter more likely to catch and shoot type of player, one thing affected klay because of injuries is his defense.. because klay may not be as athletic as kobe but his defense is superb in his early years.. and because of that he became one of the missing link in their defense that's why kerr had to bench him and he lost his confidence affecting his shooting skills.
