I’m willing to bet that the windows/glass was not ceramic coated, hence the bugs and hardened mineral stains were difficult to remove. All ceramic coatings all have to be washed with some type of mitt/cloth in order to agitate the dirt. It doesn’t just wash away with a spray, have some common sense. The owners probably didn’t understand that the provided spray was a refresh to be applied after the wash in most cases depending on the product. I have a 9 year coating on my truck and it works as expected flawlessly and sits in the harshest elementals daily.

Love the honesty and the determination to protect your reputation. Reputations are earned and not just given and as you stated it can take years to build trust and the good reputation that comes with that trust. Which of course can be destroyed in an instant and today it seems some just don't care and they're getting away with that attitude for now but there will come a day when it bites them. Good on you Andrew and it's refreshing to see someone from a younger generation who knows and has truly timeless values. There's a reason those of us from GenX and older generations were taught that our word is our bond and a man who doesn't honor his word is no man at all...

I have a ceramic coating on my truck and am super happy with it. Much easier to wash and maintains the the freshly polished and waxed look long term. That being said, for an RV, I'd say a ceramic coating is probably not the best option.

As soon as you said deionized water, I knew you were in this for self promotion. Ceramic coatings do not need deionized water. Ceramic coatings also need paint enhancement or correction or clay in order to be applied properly. I've had Ceramic Pro 9H and Ceramic Pro Lite applied on all my cars from the Tesla to the BMW X3 and if done properly, their advantages far outweigh the cost, particularly in climates with high UV and salt components in the air where I live. Even from the beginning of the video where you showed the dirt, a proper paint correction or enhancement prior to a ceramic coating, wouldn't grab dirt like what you showed, meaning it wasn't applied or cured properly. As far as glass, the only product I would use would be Glassparency. My foam cannon and a pressure wash is all it needs with a microfiber dry....no swirls or spots after 3 years and water still sheets off both cars.
@jackdominiak445

You're absolutely spot on, deionised water 😂 I've got Ceramic Pro Gold package on mine and it's brilliant, obviously prep and application are key with all Ceramic coatings, but Ceramic Pro Gold is the best 4 coats of 9h plus the top coat, can't beat it!
@derek723
@derek723 2 года назад
Self promotion? Does he sell deionized water systems or something? The concerns he raised for cleaning RV's make sense. I'm assuming it's impossible to hand dry an RV before the sun dries some of the water. For ceramic coated vehicles, letting the sun dry hard water that's turned into a million little beads = water spot city. For now, water spots represent the greatest challenge for ceramic coatings. Ceramic coatings are typically pitched as being able to "make your life easier". This is a massive misconception. If you don't properly dry a ceramic coated car after every wash, it's going to look like crap after a while. For car people a proper drying process isn't that big of a deal, but for non car people who were sucked in by ceramic coating marketing, having to dry your car after every wash is probably viewed as a pain in the a**

I've learned if coaches use Sickens Paint and layer the paint job (no stickers) then triple coat the paint job with Super Clear coating that upscale RV manufacturers use other than vinyl rapping the nose your super guaranteed a good looking flawless coach with a standard wash, rinse, and a buff. A coach only needs waxing actually once a season. Trust me on this I have hands-on experience.

I had my car ceramic coated 5 years ago and it is still holding up pretty good , the depth of shine is very noticeable compared to other cars and I have not really polish or wax the car up to last year , it is truly an amazing product for that. Having said that, there are a few disadvantages , and this is where my beef with coatings come in the last year. For starters the coatings do required toppers to be apply every 3-6 months in order to "maintain the coating" which kind of defeats the purpose of the claim " one time application" , because there are many waxes, sealants that also have 6 month durability. The other main issue that I have with coated cars is that the application tends to be tedious and expensive , even if you do it yourself , there are hidden costs that come with it , aside from buying the product and polishers/compounds ( for prep) , you also have to factor in the cost of towels since they can not be re used after applying a coating , and it can easily add an extra 50$ to the price. Lastly the main issue is that inability to do a light polish or paint correction once you have to coating applied, hear me out before someone says coatings dont need polished. I can tell you that the paint will get swirl marks and scratches with the coating, specially if you daily that car, so sure you car will look shiny but under the sun you will see all the swirl marks. I have become very ocd about my cars and I do a light polish every 6 months on my other 3 cars that are not coated and they look great, however I can not do that to my coated car, because once you apply a da polisher you are removing the coating . Even if I just did paint correction on one panel , I still have to apply a new coating on that panel, the issue is the coatings only have a 6 month shelf life, so that means you need to buy a small bottle every 6 months so fix up scratches on specific panels . God forbid you do a light polish on the whole car to get rid of swirl marks , you will probably have to redo the whole application all over again. I enjoyed my coating for the first 5 years, because I just washed the car and it always looked like it had a wax applied on it, however now I m more OCD about swirl marks and scratches , therefore I find it hard to justify a coating , specially now that there are so many products that are much easier to apply that will give you the same look or even better for much much cheaper, and they will give you the advantage of correction paint , doing light polish once a year or twice a year so the car looks great under different lighting I m finding it much easier with my other cars to just apply a sealant ( 3-6 months) and something like beadmaker as a drying aid every car wash , or every 2 car washes, the level of shine and slickness of bead maker beats more ceramic coatings anyways and the price for a gallon is just out of this world cheap , also a good sealant is cheaper and easier to apply , gives you same protection and gloss of a coating , maybe for less time but 3-6 months is still very durable , and I can always just to a light polish twice a year , or I do no t have to worry about paint correction if my car gets a bigger scratch with my coating on my bmw , a big scratch meant making an appointment with my detailer to get it fix , because the specific coatings that I purchased was only sold to authorized dealers , a simple car wash was 75 $ , he was kind enough to correct some scratches here and there and re applied the coating , but still that meant 2-3 car washes a year plus 2 appoinment for decontamination ( 150$ each) , nowdays is different , you can buy these products .but still you need to keep a bottle handy and spare towels, a pain in the ass So before you jump on the coating wagon , make sure you look at the real cost . If you are someone that daily the car and doesnt care about swirl marks and light scratches , you just care about the car looking good after every car wash , coating is for you. If you garaged the car coating is for you too. If you want your car looking swirl free and you like to diy , polish your car , twice a year , and you have your own tools , coating may be a pain in the budd. You are probably going to apply a wax or sealant anyways after every car wash , maybe something like beadmaker as a drying aid, so that defeats the purpose of a coating to me at least

Although I did not have to pay the ridiculous price places are charging it was a hell of a lot of work. The results were no better then good polymer sealant. It’s been on about 2 years and my truck is garage kept really only a secondary vehicle. Brine and salt stick to the ceramic coating during winter months and I still have to use detail sprays to get the stuff out. When I got my coach I used pressure washer, with foam gun, simple chuck and hand applied polymer sealant Great results. Thanks for being honest about these product as it seems to only be a high priced gimmick.

Love your vids Andrew! I have ceramic coating on all of my collector cars as well as my daily driver car. The claims these companies make about it never needing to be washed is pure bs. My vehicles get dirty with or without coating. What I like about the ceramic coating is that it gives the vehicle a deeper more glossy shine, and it prevents swirl on the paint as it is a much harder finish than a lot of paints and clear coats used these days which are soft and scratch(swirl) so easily. I like that I have a ceramic barrier on top of my paint/clear. I'm shopping for a Prevost and will probably go with the coating because I like having that extra barrier and the gloss factor.

The first thing a good detailer will tell you is don't get ceramic coating unless you're prepared to wash your vehicle regularly and by that they mean every 2 weeks at least, but it really should be weekly, off course the cars get dirty even with ceramic coating, but I tell you, it's twice as clean after rain, than it was before I had it done, I'm very pleasantly surprised, would recommend it to any one that isn't shy to wash their vehicle regularly!

If hard water is left to dry on the surface it will leave spots on anything no matter what’s on the paint and especially ceramic coatings because the beads of water are taller and are like a magnifying glass and heat and dry the water leaving behind the particulates in the water and it literally etches and corrodes the clear coat and can cause permanent damage, wash a section at a time using a waterless wash or wash normally and do a section and use an air dryer to blow the water off before it dries, only way around it or ryno line the whole thing and spray if off once a year.

I'm on the fence regarding the effectiveness of ceramic coating. I will say I don't think there is a product that will keep dirt from adhering to your vehicle. So to say ceramic coating is a failure because the coach got dirty is I think simply a comment from a ceramic hater. Does ceramic make clean up easier? If so, then it may be worth it. Will it eliminate ALL bugs? Of course not. It should make the clean up easier --- fewer bugs that require a lot of scrubbing to remove and less work to remove road grime and tar.

If you are thinking of buying top coat f11, I would recommend a product called technicians choice ceramic detail spray. It is very similar but if you're buying a whole gallon it's much cheaper and a higher concentration of the chemical that makes it really slick. We do not have set prices as there are tons of different variables as to where we are located and the time of year, supply and demand and so on. typically on a fair-weather day we charge $500 to wash and wax a 40-foot coach or $600 to wash and wax a 45-foot coach. during surge time like Sturgis, those prices will shoot up to $1,000 so that we can keep up with supply and demand.

Ok maybe I haven't heard the news..But why would you need to use deionized water? Also were the windows actually coated? Also you make it sound like if you ceramic coat it that you don't need to wash your car...Where are you hearing this from? or are your customers telling you that is what the detail dealer told them? Since you are being honest here, why not mention what product is used? Not all coatings are equal and I know there are many who have test products over time on durability. $100 a foot? $20k to do an RV?? Ok, that is INSANE!!! I do agree if people are paying that much, they are getting screwed! Many coatings I have seen only claim a max protection of 2 years.

Am i wrong to notice the majority of the issues you had with the ceramic coating were on the glass? When a person thinks of ceramic coating its not something where the entire car gets dipped in a magical formula. Ceramic coatings are applied to the paint. Wheel coating and glass coatings are different things. To me it seemed like you made a video to justify to a customer why you are making a couple of extra bucks because they got their rv coated and you want to sell your recurring service to this customer. I could be wrong 🤷‍♂️

The specific retailer that is being referenced in this video is very reputable. There is only one retailer that has exclusive rights in the US to Sensha (A premium Japanese ceramic product). This retailer coats the entire coach, windows, body and wheels. That being said, I have been leaning towards doing an expensive ceramic coating, but before dropping the dough I’d like to hear feedback from all sides. Not sure what the guy making this video would have to gain, ceramic coated videos still need to be washed. They also seem to require special care instructions from what I can gather.

Ceramic coating has it's benefit's in regards to protection longevity lasting longer than your waxes and sealants but to be honest. I am sick of ceramic coatings and it is overhyped. These other detailers are selling the service and telling them how it lasts 7 years and will never get dirty and it is scratch resistant. Basically making it seem like its a superman coating. And then when someone calls to have their ceramic coated vehicle washed. They are over the top about how it should be washed but yet i have seen tons of ceramic coated vehicles that started to get swirls after 7 months. Im not a big fan as it does complicate the wash process from you regular routine so i actually still love my sealants and waxes. By the way let me add that i feel that ceramic coatings really make water spotting worse and complicates things because i have a ceramic coated vehicle that i brought in from the rain. Fantastic water beading. I didn't drive the vehicle for a few days and came to the vehicle only to see hard water spots. I tried Optimum MDR, Gtechniq water spot remover. Nothing worked so at this point you have to polish it but polishing removes the ceramic coating so now you have to do all the extra work which takes time to polish and re-coat. And i would like to give you a standing ovation to point out that ceramic coatings would be geared more towards people with show cars that barely drive the vehicle. Spending $1400 on ceramic coating on an everyday driven vehicle is just highway robbery. Not sure if you have done ceramic coatings but it also costs you money when you have clients that get a scratch on the car and think you are obligated to repair and re-coat that panel just because they spent $1400 on the coating.

What is the cost to buff the gelcoat when it starts to oxidize? Big money! A ceramic coating is way better in the long-term. It seals, repels, it has UV protection and lasts way longer then a wax. It's it expensive? Yes but it is something you can do yourself and save a lot of money. For around $600 you can apply it yourself and add a 9H layer of protection to your investment. I noticed one of your complaints was you couldn't get the soap to stick, it just ran off 🤔🤦‍♂️ that alone tells you something. What is the cost to have someone wax your motorhome? A few times a year?

Were the windows actually coated? It usually does not play well on glass, but my bigger question is what pro detailer washes with a circular motion or puts a microfiber drying towel on the ground to pick up the debris that might not all wash out to just scratch a vehicle later? YIKES, sry, but not much attention to detail.

We definitely do not leave any microfibers on the ground but they do get dropped from time to time. when trying to get bugs off of a ceramic coating and we're not able to use bug remover I would wash in a circular motion. I hate "coating" companies like this. A quality coating wouldn't have you use a special spray to wash with or have to use deionized water. Like just wash it with ph neutral soap or if it's been neglected do a decontamination wash with a harsher soap and an iron remover if needed to bring back the beading aspect. I agree with you though that you shouldn't have to fix stubborn spots especially with it only be 2 months old. She was poorly informed, the installer and or the coating company shouldn’t be in the game. Coatings really should go on an RV unless it’s going to get washed once a month or so. The glass should only be coated with a dedicated glass coating and work awesome. Tons of shady companies out there. I would like to know the brand, only about 8 out of hundreds of companies that I trust the coating and claims. If someone is going to apply a professional ceramic coating the minimum amount of prep is wash,clay,polish and a prep spray then coat, if any of those are not used then the coating will NOT perform or last. Look at other folk that have had it done here on the tube and you’ll see the difference.
