Chazz appreciator here! I feel that Chazz is actually a clever subversion of the rival character. He is very much set up as a "Tiny Toons" Kaiba and then becomes Jaden's goofy friend once he loses everything. With his brothers out of the picture Chazz no longer has to put up a facade and starts being himself... who's really a lovable dork. While Chazz saw a rival and a constant reminder of his insecurities in Jaden, Jaden saw a friend. Jaden was probably Chazz's first real friend and it was something Chazz clearly struggled with as outlined by his inner conflict in his duel with Sartorius. Jaden was key in Chazz's growth and I feel the moment that cements Chazz is worthy of being Jaden's rival is something most people haven't seen because it happens in season 4. Chazz was about to defeat Jaden yet, Chazz threw the duel to right a wrong he thought he made. Season 1&2 Chazz would've never of done that because he wanted nothing more to put Jaden in his place. Here he tossed away what he'd wanted for so long to do what he thought was right. Jaden was even extremely angry at him for this as he knew Chazz had the win and threw it away on purpose. This is why I have to disagree with you on the point of the school duel being a draw. Chazz hadn't been humbled yet and wasn't ready to be on equal footing with Jaden yet. He still had a lot of growing to do. In the end I view their rivalry as a battle for a friendship and in the end Chazz does become Jaden's friend. Maybe the true rivals were the friends we made along the way. As for taking taking Chazz's character in different directions I feel that's what humanises him. You can be a goofball, have a cringe worthy crush on a girl and still be a formidable foe. Thank you for the video! Yes I definitely disagree with a lot of your points but it's definitely interesting to hear another point of view on one of my favourite characters of all time.
Ill always consider The Chazz, the main rival of GX he was fun and developed in a way Kaiba never did. I also really enjoy how his story parallels Jaden pretty well. While Jaden got more Serious and tense about dueling, Chazz went on the opposite journey, becoming less serious and more carefree. In conclusion CHAZZ IT UP
@@devilgirl7054 Kaiba only beat Yugi once by threatening suicide and Jack only beat Yusei in a flashback prior to the show. Chazz at the very least has had 2 opportunities where he could have beaten Jaden but chose not to for various reasons.
I say he is, however that's not to say he's the only one or the most worthy, it seems like they chose to split Kaiba's character into a bunch of other characters from there. The Chazz: Ego and arrogance to balance with the MC's confidence. Zane: Triple Ace that fuse with itself to become stronger. Aster: Contradictory position to the MC and teams with the MC whenever needed despite not liking them much.
@@MultiversalStudios same, it's really the best way I can see it really, as those three have an equal level claim to why they are the main rival. Zane does push Jaiden beyond his limits every time, however Aster has the perfect deck to keep Jaiden having fun with his duels, and The Chazz has the ability to be his equal even though the anime was iffy on the ability to capitalize on his skill.
I don't believe GX was meant to have a main rival. We can cleary see in season 1 Jaden had Chazz, Bastion and Zane, but each had their purpose, then came Aster, after that we got Jesse.
He, Zane, and Aster all have equal claim to the rival spot, I think. Chazz never beats Jaden, but he's definitely the most prominent of the three in the show and goes through the most development.
@@devilgirl7054 Have you seen manga chazz? He's undefeated. And abt anime chazz. He has literally won against all of the GX tournament guys and the Jaden duel doesn't count he was mind controlled. And he literally defeated thousands of duel ghouls in the yub arc before his energy was drained.
@@hamzagamalelgamal Bullshit.. Manga Chazz doesnt count. And the heck is abt??? If u look anime first. And how many times chazz lost to jaden?? Never seen chazz beat jaden or zane u got tha. Have u seen chazz beat Dr. Crowler and tha Dino guy from gx.? Both have 3000 attack point.
Especially Aster, as they each have one win, one loss, and one draw against each other and Aster had that team duel that Kaiba had with Yugi at times and Jack had with Yusei. I wish that we had that one final duel between Jaiden and Aster.
@@hamzagamalelgamalyeah... but like... he loses his fun side. I loved that Chazz wasn't monotone Mary Sue who wins every duel. To me Chazz has been the only Rival who actually acted 15.
@@KG7Plaz to be fair, Seto was an 18 year old CEO, Jack was also a young adult, Kite was 18 as well, Declan was a 16 year old who had responsibilities because his father was searching for ways to get his favorite child, Varis was 18 and dealing with the responsibilities of eradicating what he deems to be mistakes of his father, and Luke acted his age as well behaving exactly like an 11 year old.
I think Chazz in the manga is since he had reasons like also having a bond with a duel spirit that he comes back to from losing to Jaden. He also met Koyo Hibiki as a child and looked up to him like Jaden. And Chazz even had the final tag duel with him and never stopped evaluating Jaden's progress. In the anime, there's not really a real reason WHY he wants to be Jaden's rival so much. It's like he was mad he defeated him and...not really anything else. He has some good moments, but they went all over the place with his character making him always be brainwashed or kidnapped or "dead" over half the time, or he's just fanboying over Alexis and her brother. He was just sort of there sometime after season one, and then his ending arc was incredibly rushed and poorly written. When he finally gets a chance to defeat his so-called rival, he throws it. For the anime, Aster is the one I consider the real rival. He had actual motivation with trying at first to be one chosen by destiny instead of Jaden. He had differing views about what it means to use Heroes and be one. He tag dueled with Jaden in a way similar to Yugi and Kaiba's and starts to understand and respect him. Elemental Hero Phoenix Enforcer is even a direct counter of sorts to Elemental Hero Flame Wingman, as in it defeats the whole effect of getting burn damage by destroying a monster in battle simply by not being to be destroyed in battle. Aster and Jaden kept a tally of their matches. And in Arc-V, Aster is the rival character chosen for GX alongside the other Legacy rivals, Jack and Kaito. The only problem is their rivalry in GX is sadly put on the backburner after season two when they simply don't know what to do with Aster anymore, sadly. It would have been nice to at least see them have a good talk in season four.
Honestly idk why youtube just randomly recommends such a video. I get why youtube removed dislikes now... Honestly what did I expect from somebody who doesn't read? Absolutely disgusting *spits on the floor* . But let's talk real. The monster reborn thingy was easily just Jaden having good luck and you don't know if Chazz had a way to stop it. Chazz had the most character building from the other "rivals". He's also the one to wanna face Jaden and defeat him once and for all unlike the others. He's like Kaiba in a way where he dearly wants his rematch with Jaden at any given time. He's also the only one with a 3K beatstick so you know he was intended to be a rival. Is he rival worthy? Absolutely. Bro's one of the best duelists that he defeated all of Academy Island's students in the GX tournament and all the duel ghouls before his energy was drained. So that's why imo Chazz *IS* the main rival of GX.
He didn't defeat Jaiden in their duel in the Tournament, Jaiden simply had bigger things to worry about. In fact, for all the duels The Chazz won, he never beat Jaiden.
@@hamzagamalelgamal first of all, he did, in Duelist Kingdom. Also, I never mentioned Kaiba there. Secondly, the manga doesn't matter as it's entirely its own thing and came second in terms of releases.
@@mikebottomlesspitdunham2954 Duelist Kingdom win does not count in a skill factor. And the manga *IS* the main storyline that the writers intended. Might not be for the spinoff titles but they take their time now to make what they believe is the best version of the show. Being a rival doesn't always mean to make the main character lose to you but can just mean to be someone who makes them stronger by making them face tough opponents. Zane was a season 1 rival and only for 2 episodes. Aster was a season 2 rival but Jaden was 99% of the time outside Duel Academy or dueling others in the GX tournament. Jesse which I don't count as a rival is kind of the rival of S3 and S4 but for Chazz he's the rival in every season.
I think Bakura vs Dartz is the same as Kid Buu vs Buuhan Dartz is more dangerous like Kid Buu But Bakura and Buuhan are stronger Atem used the 3 gods to beat the great Leviathan But Bakura needed the three gods to fuse
