I've watched hour of these hearings on Forbes and have yet to see a democrat answer a question.

The gun charges are always always the first thing thrown out with plea bargaining

I am a retired police officer of 43 years of service. I collect firearms and in doing so it has become a valuable collection that when I’m gone my daughter can sell or keep. It’s up to her at that point and it’s a tremendous value to her and her husband. It’s my savings account, my hobby and has been a big part of my life. I was a firearms instructor trainer. I certified police and military instructor all across the United States and seven Allie countries. These duties where a part of my LE duties. I own 7 hand guns that where manufactured with braces. I removed the braces on 4 of them and on 3 of them it could not be removed. In order to comply with the totally stupid law concerning these braces I had to literally destroy these firearms. I’m a retired police officer and I comply with the law no matter how stupid it is. Idiot politicians that don’t know their a- from a shotgun come up with these laws to harass law bidding sportsmen and women. These same idiots cost me $4059.09 . I had to destroy the 3 firearms that had braces built permanently on the gun. I just want to say thank you to idiots that can take an action that forces me to throw away $4000. See how you would feel if I had the authority to take $4000 from you! I have a large family and numerous friends that will never vote for a party that creates stupid laws and steals from the citizens they are suppose to serve. I retired as a state police captain then went on to be the chief of police in a Midwest city and have witnessed many a stupid laws . Believe me when I say this law ranks at the top of stupid. A pistol brace will never be an instrument that will create or make a difference in a criminals actions. It’s just plain harassment of Law biding citizens! I assure you that I will never let an idiot take $4000 from me ever again!

We're the bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms but we can't define what an assault rifle is. Well maybe there shouldn't be an ATF any more. Or maybe there shouldn't have been one to begin with.

Just like closing mental institutions leads to mentally ill homeless people, the community based care for them never materialized. Criminal justice reforms are needed, not locking up criminals repeat offenders, leads to more crime. Community based divergence programs must be in place and show effectiveness before changes in sentences and charging will be effective. These hearings are for show not for change. They show the citizens how ineffective our government is.
