Had a bit of an interesting Chinese Type 56 AK variant come my way, so figured we'd look at it and discuss the costs, benefits, and dangers of trying to convert a MAK90 into a preban Type 56 pattern. This rifle was manufactured under the Jing-An name, exported by Norinco, and imported by CJA. Chambered for 7.62x39, the MAK90 was a very popular sporter rifle here from late 1990, until they were banned in April of 1994.
So today if you have one, what is the best thing you can do with it? Would it be a good project gun or should you just leave it as-is? This weekend we'll discuss several aspects, including the costs associated with the whole process in 2023.
