Mine hasn't been overly abused but after about 13K rounds the last 24 years, its still as solid as when I bought it new.

Mine too… when I first got it,m way back on 96… i think Whenever the new so called assault weapons ban occurred…. I blasted maybe 7 or 8 thousand rounds.. then maybe 5 years ago I put new furniture on it.. M-LOK hand guard rails and Zhukov stock … I’m still under the 11 piece limit so as to stay compliant.. it’s stupid.. but I fired another 5000 rounds after the remodel. But I got bored… now I just keep it tucked away,,,, but close enough for the zombie apocalypse if such an occurrence presents…. Looks really cool,

I have a Norinco MAK 90 Sporter I purchased new over 25 years ago (early 90's) for $275, lol. They are pretty robust. Compare it to the AK's out there today and the difference in quality is very evident. All the internals are so much beefier. It's built like a tank. I'll never let it go.

My Norinco star is on the underside in front of the magwell. It's a straight cut receiver. I pulled off my factory wood and stored it safely and "modified" some AKM/WASR10 wood to fit and make it look more old school.

MAK-90 owner for over 20 years. I've put thousands of rounds through it, when you could have a case of ammo shipped to your door for ~$100, and never had a misfire, ftf, fte, etc, etc. Pull the trigger and bang. It's my shtf gun, too. If you had to bury it under some dirt and brush in a ravine, there's a high level of confidence it will function when you pull it out and need to use it. An AR15, not so much.

I got into AKs in the mid 80s. I originally owned Maadis amd Norincos. That was all that was available at the time. (Yes, there were the rare Valmets) I've owned just about every make and model since...... Bulgarian, Romanian, Russian, East German, and a number of others. I always come back to the Chinese for durability and quality. Hands down those are my favorite and best AKs. I think a lot of the negativity towards Chinese AKs in the early 90s was due to the general low quality of other Chinese products that were being sold at the time. What many didn't realize back then, was that China and the PLA were trying to raise money quickly and selling milspec rifles based on the stock they had on hand.

After I purchased it about 2 to 3 years later it when for 1000 dollars because of the President Bill Clintons gun control measures. The price of the weapon shot up to 1000 dollars and people were still buying them until thy ran out.I cant hardly wait to go and fire this gun again.I recently about 4 years ago purchased IO AK47 and have never fired it and I didnt know about all the negative reviews on it.In fact after I bought it the magazine would not fit in the receiver .I am afraid to fire it and I am not sure how to get rid of it. The only problem I have is mine didn't come with a siderail mount I have on my WASR. That greatly enhances accuracy and the ultimak rail on the handguard sucks in comparison. The Mak 90 is put together really well, but I have the most rounds of any rifle I own through my WASR. It has never failed once. It eats everything and asks for seconds. Pretty much all major makes of AKM's are bet your life on reliable.

Love your videos and question what do you think about the Rh10 century arms ak47 ? I would like to know an expert opinion.
@TheBargainMan
@TheBargainMan 8 месяцев назад
Aren't you referring to the WASR-10, not an Rh10? If you're speaking of a WASR-10 they're generally more accurate than a Chinese AK, and the WASR-10 has a scope rail that the MAK-90 doesn't. Overall the Chinese AKs are more reliable than Romanian AK-47s because the Chinese use thicker receivers & "double-hook" triggers for a smoother trigger pull & more reliable weapon.
@TheBargainMan
@TheBargainMan 8 месяцев назад
Only Milled Russian and Bulgarian AKs in the USA used the reliable Double-hook triggers in non-Chinese (Warsaw Pact) AKs.

Thanks for the great info. I have a chance to get a MAK90 from a dealer that got in a few months ago, however they are asking $1K for it with the crapola thumb hole stock. Would you pay that much with all the other variants out there? Also if I do get it where is the best place to get replacement butt stocks and higher capacity mags for it? Thanks.
@vlogmoor4992
@vlogmoor4992 6 лет назад
Thats a tough one. If its 1k, then I would buy if for collecting purposes because they are the best! However, if you're getting it for SHTF then I'd try to find one for cheaper or even for a wasr 10

Thank you very much for responding. The wife told me to get anyway and don't mod it, yeah she's a keeper after 33 yrs. The dealer also has a Wasr 10, my son really likes his, so I may get both just for the heck of it if they will deal on the pair. Thanks again, RP.

good advice but when the SHTF i want the best weapon money can buy or I can afford....You might not get a chance to sell or appreciate your valuable collection. What's more important a chinese made rifle or your life?

I have a slant cut Poly Technologies MAK-90... what’s the story on it versus the Norinko MAK-90?
@vlogmoor4992
@vlogmoor4992 3 года назад
It fetches a higher price as they’re usually milled receivers and harder to come by. It’s a great AK. I’d still prefer a stamped receiver as it has more flex in the frame and will usually last slightly longer but I’d never say no to a milled! You have a great rifle that is going for up to $2500 or more online!

I do have one question, can my barrel be threaded? It has those very small grooves in it...
@vlogmoor4992
@vlogmoor4992 7 лет назад
Sure bud, well... Your barrel can certainly be threaded, but you'll have to take it to a gunsmith who will use a die to do so. Personally I wouldn't, but of course being able to put a suppressor or muzzle break on there would be fun. The small grooves are just a manufacturing detail. I wondered at first too if It was threaded but a real threaded barrel has prominent markings that are unmistakable. But ultimately if you're willing to pay to have a smith do it you could.

Here's a better question. My Mak 90 is in beatiful shape. I am loath to have a gunsmith mod it because I would kick myself if he screwed it up. I don't like the mounts above the gas tube. If you wanted a red dot on it, what would you do? I want to keep it as pristine as possible.
@vlogmoor4992
@vlogmoor4992 5 месяцев назад
This is a great question. My personal belief is AKs should be iron only lol but I do have an answer for you if you really have to have an optic. Sun Optics USA has a scope/optics piece that should be easy to add to your Mak. Little to no tampering. Maybe try this out and red dot away
@cryptodeath854
@cryptodeath854 6 лет назад
You’ve leaving out why they were stamped MAK-90. They were not originally. They were stamped MAK-90 and modified to comply with 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. This why why these rifles were modified with the thumb whole grip and threaded barrel was milled down. Muzzle brake was removed. 30 round mags were not allowed and only 5 round mags were. Why? Because the Chinese were able to still import the rifles after modifying them because it met the requirements under the sporting clause under the Act for a sporting and hunting rifle.
@jason127x99
@jason127x99 5 лет назад
TonyNightKing you got everything right beside the muzzle break. They either had the threads turned down or had a thread protector aka nut wielded to the front site. I've got a Polytech that had the nut wielded. I took a dermal to that. I've got one MAK90 that the barrel never was turned down or have a muzzle nut wielded to it. I took a threading tool to the barrel myself. Super easy to do.

Wrong "Mr. Wannabe" @cryptodeath854, as the MAK-90 was called the "Modified AK of 1990", and the September 13, 1994 Crime Bill HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MAK-90s that were already banned from futher import by a Clinton Executive Order on May 22, 1994 !!!😂

I have an Arsenal SGL 21-61 Russian manufactured AK-47 and love it to death. I have hunted with it and shoot 2 to 3" groups with routine at 100 yds using Tula Wally World ammo. If I had to choose another AK it would be a Norinco or Polytech. I remember the folding bayonet Ak's at gun shows and I also remember the awesome Chinese ak with the side folding stock that was the 1 I always wanted. remember it from when I was like 14 or 15. Anyway, I have a Russian Ak so good enough. Most prolific rifle of all time...

Zastava M-70 doesn't have a Chrome-lined barrel = so you need to clean them RIGHT AFTER SHOOTING THEM, especially if you use Corrosive Steel core Ammo.
