I did a meet and greet with Cradle Of Filth on the 20th anniversary Cruelty and the Beast tour. Dani Filth is a knob, the rest of the band were great. Lindsay Schoolcraft is one of the nicest people I've ever met.

ahh man i went to the same tour attended 2 california shows. It would be cool to meet him mabe if he was signing at a comi con type event maybe he would be cooler.....sometimes those meet and greets they try to rush them. I met Slayer in 2018 it was a fistbump quick picture and there tour manager rushed me the fuck out of there.

I dont think Glen's songs have much to do with god but moreso fakes and frauds who need something as a scapegoat for their own actions. Yeah I really doubt it has anything against God, if anything its more of a statement against self righteous liars and hypocrites of all kinds. He mostly writes that stuff to stay true to old Deicide style where it was from a Levayan satanist point of view. Today I'd say he hes got more of an axe to grind against politically correct trendy attention mongers and their need for safe spaces with double standards. Just this overall cancel culture climate where people tend to make up accusations against others of things they are guilty of themselves and yet hate being criticized for it, because it makes them sad : (

Glen seems pretty down to earth. He's one of those metal stars that walks and talks among the crowd. I remember being pretty young (18 or 19?) and being intimidated by him walking up to me and the guys trying to shoot the shit. I wish I could go back in time to better take advantage of that opportuntiy.

Gateways to annihilation is actually pretty badass. I’m in my forties and been listening to metal since at least the days when Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, and Deicide were new. Although, I will say that Deicide are the only one of those three that can still put out a record that really impresses me. The last few Cannibals were ok, and at the very least Morbids Kingdoms Disdained was…. Ok. Still can’t figure out what’s up with the mix on that record. Does anybody else think that record has a weird mix or is it just me?

I agree black metal is kinda like grind in the sense that there are a million one off demo/split/project bands. With the quantity population of black metal bands as a denominator, compared to that of death metal bands. I would say the good to bad % ratio is roughly the same in most cases. Of course this subjective and I only use personal observation as a measure.

I'm old enough to remember Cradle of Filth as a four piece death metal band that sounded like a cross between Deicide and Massacre (used to cover dawn of eternity live) and they used to play my city (Liverpool, UK) pretty regularly back then. The Orgiastic Pleasures Foul demo was pretty legit but very different to the shift that took place on 'Total Fucking Darkness' when they started introducing black metal elements. It's absolutely fucking mental to see how popular they became over the years when I think back on how they started. Not hating on the band at all though, I still love their demos and first 3 or 4 albums.

J-Dawg as far as the attendances in the Bay Area for CC and COF i think Cannibal corpse has the bigger draw. I've seen both bands live quite a few times in the last 5-10 years. Usually Cannibal Corpse is always sold out and COF is not quite as packed with the exception of the last tour they did it was packed and they had awesome theatrics onstage. I could be wrong but i remember COF being sold in stores in the mall and what not when i was in middle school. COF also got alot of exposure on an episode of Viva La Bam on MTV.

Here is a really cool story. I was walking through Walmart and I had my Butchered at Birth hoodie on. Walking towards me was a woman probably my age(48) and her daughter and we made eye contact and the mom screams, “ I love that hoodie!!!!! It’s our favorite band!! The daughter adds in, “ I got the matching blanket and pillows!” So we started talking and she shows me the moms “Tombs of the Mutilated” hoodie and then they tell me that every time Corpse comes to town or anywhere close to Chicago they get together as a family, (mom, dad daughter, brother) and do a family day going to the Cannibal Corpse concert and then out to dinner or whatever. They make a whole day around Cannibal Corpse. I think that is so cool and I wish more people did things like that!

Formulas, Gateways, Heretic and Kingdoms are my personal faves, but I also like every single band J-Dawg suggests for example whenever he's said "If you don't know this one" I've checked it out (which is about every band he brings up at this point) and either thought it was pretty good or a complete banger, like NunSlaughter for example, I have now ordered both the vinyl and the picture disc of Hex cause that's gotta be my fave by them, Angelic Dread right next to it next in line for orders dammit! Talk about bang for your buck album with all those 31 tracks!

For me, It was weird hearing DM for the first time. There's some stuff I enjoy from time to time, like Cryptopsy, Dismember, Death(all eras), Vital Remains, surface level stuff, but it doesn't even compare to Norwegian BM, I'd rather listen to Emperor's first two albums anyday.

I hate to break it to you Justin but metal is not for low IQ jocks. The thing about metal that I like that set it apart from shitty "mainstream" music was the fact that it was poetic and the lyrics were thought provoking. It wasn't music that had very dumb and basic lyrics or song structures that could be consumed by the masses. It made you feel that this music was not meant for the stupid and weak but rather the Intelligent and elite. If you want to be a "knucklehead" as you like to say than join the fantasy football league and go to the bar every Sunday and talk to random strangers about how you hope the Broncos are gonna beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

I have purchased every Immo album when they released. Never disappointed. Fetus is mostly good, but War of Attrition and Depths of Depravity were weak. Other than that, all bangers.

I think Cradle's later stuff caused a lot of people to pass on CoF entirely, myself included. There's a ton of killer black metal out there, particularly early on, that I've never felt compelled to say, "Hey, let's check out that sexually ambiguous gothic black metal band's early albums!"

Gateways was the first album I bought from morbid angel. I hated it so much it put me off from ever listening to them again lol. And I kept seeing everyone put them in their top tens. Didn’t get it. That’s when I realized like Paul Ledney said…”I don’t like bands I like albums”

Not since Seth Putman did a vocalist sounded like a little girl getting dragged out of the toy store, except, unlike Seth, he wasnt doing as a joke. Mix that with generic Gothic Metal and you get Cradle after the first record. I for one dont care to impress the Dawg since his taste for Black Metal is mostly trash.
