100% Is actually not impossible. I can count up to 5-10 levels where it's really difficult to get the N.Sanely perfect relic. I think the most difficult one Is the 4-colored-gems one (don't remember the name) due to it's length. 80% of the levels are pretty easy with some practice. Platinum relics are really a nightmare though
It's been 1 year since I brought this game, and I'm still on 94%, trying to get some tapes, and it's a nightmare,. Rush hour on n verted it's the WORST level I have ever seen, and the fact that it's so slow, and still can't get all crates on it, idk why, but I wish this game had less Loading time on fucking screens, this is ridiculous
@BruiseLeeRoy the crash bandicoot series makes it a habit of reminding the player that they missed boxes or those apple things. the designers of the crash games do not want people just playing it straight forward. the levels in crash 4 are clearly not made to be straight forward. even tho u can play it that way
Crash Bandicoot's popularity is based on people's experience trying to collect every box. Therefore, the quality of Crash Bandicoot 4 should be based on people's experiences trying to collect every box.
@WWE awesomeness you remind me of people who say "if you are grinding to level up in dark souls you aren't playing dark souls" Its a game... anyone who buys it should feel welcome to play it however the fuck they want without some stupid notion of "you aren't really playing it unless you do it this way" If thats the case they would only offer an ending to the game when you fully complete it
@@ling8956 trying to collect every box is not fully completing tho, there's a difference. There is a whole spectrum between barely finishing with the lowest percentage possible and 106%ing the game. You choose what you are happy with doing. For me I want to unlock all the skins and beat all the levels in under 3 lives - thats all I care to do. I'm sick of ppl acting like crash 4 is different from the plentiful amount of other games that offer incentives to completionists such as different endings, trophies, skins, etc.
This game needed a better balance of level difficulty/length and the location/number of crates. If they were going to make the crates such a pain in the ass to find, they should have added a feature where Aku could point you to where they were, similar to how Sparx does in Spyro
This is a great Idea maybe make this feature unlocked after finishing the game ones and maybe make us use the slow time mask at any time after finishing the game too
@@zikzak746 Adding sh*t TONS of crates -- that you can't find for JACK anywhere, without *SCAVENGING* every single INCH of the level, basically ... I AGREE THAT WAS the *WORRRRRST* idea.... Ever. *In a Crash game*
@@sunnyd-pad let a man play wherever he likes. Most kids play on Android anyways its way cheaper for them. Don't hate for any preference. We all like games does not matter the platform.
The difficulty combined with the length of the levels and the amount of gems to collect makes Crash 4 a nightmare to get 100%. This game makes Crash 1-3 feel like a breeze. That’s why I chose to just play it casually.
Exactly. Before this game, I struggled in completing Crash 1 100% and played easier games to take a break. Now I play Crash 1 to take a break from Crash 4.
I'm a very casual gamer. So anything I say probably doesn't hold weight. I love Crash. I played the trilogy and CTR religiously as a kid. Crash, Spyro, and Mario were about the only games I played on a regular basis as a child (with some Mortal Kombats, Street Fighters, and Twisted Metals thrown in when visiting friends houses). I was stoked to hear about Crash 4. For a non-gamer/very casual gamer...the hype I felt for Crash 4 was massive. I played the remake trilogy, and while I did find it harder than when I was a child. I still beat all three (not 100%. I can't give a fuuh about being a completionist) and had a great time despite the extra dose of difficulty. Crash 4, I found, was so fucking hard I simply couldn't enjoy it. It's a beautiful looking game. It functions as it should. All of the new additions to gameplay are great. But it's just too damn frustrating and nightmarish for a casual like me. I guess that's not the games fault...but I couldn't help be feel a little alienated by it. I got about 60ish percent through the main story just casually playing it. And at that point I was so fed up with the difficulty I wasn't having any fun. I gave up.
No your word does hold weight. This game was meant for elite gamers only by it's insane difficulty. Naughty Dog took feedback from the first game being too difficult to acquire the gems and made the next 2 games much more enjoyable. People seem to have this twisted mentality that Crash games are supposed to be as hard as possible, but they're not. Challenging does not mean throwing your controller rage inducing platforming. This game was way too obsessed with being as difficult as possible. It's no wonder Activision went for a party game after this mess because they need the casual gamers back, and there's no way to follow up Crash 4 without making it even more insanely difficult. Crash 4 didn't sell well, and it's because of one reason, it's too bloody infuriating! You need casual gamers like us to grow the brand, otherwise you're just catering to the small elitist crowd of entitled gamers. Sorry about the rant, I grew up playing Crash games and this one was a total slap in the face
I've got a theory as to why Kapuna Wa was so easily captured by Cortex: She herself sees everything, the future AND the past. This means that she knows how Crash was rejected by Cortex's machine, so in order to not let Cortex's machine actually work on Crash, she let herself get captured so Crash would chase him, fight him and break the machine
Makes perfect sense. With her powers, you’d think she’d be able to avoid him no problem as she’d see his betrayal coming, but it’s that betrayal that allows the creation of the current timeline in the first place.
@@DrHundTF2 the theory is that it all had to happen in order for the machine to break and begin the story, the machine wouldn't have broke in the og crash if they didnt go back in time and cause it.
Instead of turning the shadow straight off, they should've given the option to remove the yellow ring. That way you still have the shadow, just not a glaring yellow ring. It just feels like the devs are forcing that yellow ring on you
To this day I think this game was made for us adults who played the first few games as kids. They wanted to give us a real challenge. In the middle of playing I was fuming at times, but at least I’m getting my money’s worth by making it challenging.
one of the most frustrating parts about his game is that you lose your aku aku mask when you finish the level. In the classic games you would always keep it and go to the next level equipped. very unfair that they dont allow that in this game. huge game changer for perfect relics. not fair, not one bit.
@@icessoupthat’s optional, and to be honest, this game is hard enough. Limited lives is just going to make this game incredibly tedious due to the length of the levels.
Alright, I'm gonna follow everyone's advice and play the game first rather than try to 106% it on the first playthrough. I'm about halfway through with everything collected so far, but you know? I don't need the unnecessary stress right now. Bears Repeating and Building Bridges is a good wake up call to just enjoy the game first instead of forcing yourself to hate it early.
Call me crazy but I started to play the game and get the N Sanely Perfect relics on the go. It helped me a lot for tougher levels later in the game as I improved my skills with the masks. Also, I played the modern version, that way you can repeat the level as much as possible if you get stuck in certain sections. Game over will make start over, but playing like this will make you improve the level. As for the riding levels... They are hard but doable and you feel so great when accomplishing them. I am currently starting to play for the Platinum relics, hopefully I'll make it. Also, I am a casual player and only dedicated 1 to 2 hours daily after I finished working and perfecting the levels would take me that time or less, making it 2 levels per day. I really enjoyed the game :)
@@CarlosRuizUnach this is very similar to my run through the game, I’ve just started the platinum relics now but I did each level one by one got all the gems first then I did the perfect relic and by the time I got to the end, the last few levels were so much easier because I practised the earlier levels and got used to it quicker.

Perfect review man! I absolutely agree with everything. The only thing I would add is about the triple spin. Even though it's fun and makes you go fast, you still see the speed runners use slide spin over the triple spin, so it feels like it lost its point.
This game is amazing, personally never been 106%’er so that aspect doesn’t bother me. I just like unlocking skins and trying to get the perfection medals...
Oh boy... Dunno how to tell you, but achieving 106% and getting the N.Sanely perfect relics go hand in hand, some levels are incredibly infuriating, specially in the Ice world
It took ages and I found it really difficult but I thought it was easier getting all the boxes, the perfect relics is what I’m struggling with. It’s interesting to see what other people like doing in the game though, tbh I’m dreading getting the rest of the relics which is probably why I haven’t played it in ages 😂
Crash 4 is a good game. In fact, I consider it the best Crash game not made by Naughty Dog. However, getting 100% and 106% are the WORST. Hope Toys For Bob don't make things frustratingly difficult the next time they'll make another Crash game.
12:43 They actually patched the hit boxes in the polar and shnurgle riding segments this makes breaking all the boxes in those sections much more easier.
I adore this game, and honestly I didn't find 100% THAT bad and I was really loving this game and I felt that going for the 100% was worth the ending. *Then I found out there was another ending*
@@generalyousif3640 The difference is that in the past, 101+% was optional! Here? It's mandatory to get what we currently assume is the CANON ending! Word of advice: just watch the cutscene online!
Crash 4 is the Sonic Unleashed of the Crash series. It has fantastic game-play, visuals, animations, music, and overall a great game to play, but has annoying things that really hold it back from being the true masterpiece it could truly be
This is probably the most accurate description for the game yet. And you know, I reckon there are a couple of simple things you could change and it would fix the problem.
Actually really relieved that somebody finally noticed how similar Kupuna-wa's functionality is to the Grimly in MoM. When i saw her in action in demo footage it was the first thing i thought of.
They should patch out any crate that’s hidden off screen. Fair enough put the hidden gems there but it’s just ass design to try and frustrate the player like that

@@sa3deelol807 I had absolutely no problem with the polar levels whatsoever. I wanted to die by the end of alien because somewhere there were 3 boxes missing and I tired so hard to get the alien one right
I feel they missed how crash's collectibles are balanced. They tried to overcompensate for the removal of lives by making Boxes more mandatory and more hidden in turn rather then go Rayman Origin's get X Lums or in Crash's case this would be get X Wumpa a level. Unfortunately making it so there is 100 boxes and 1 is hidden means you'll miss it and have to get all 99 again. This was an issue not in the original crash games if I remember right. You'd often see there is another path and in turn know you couldn't get all the boxes. You'd still get the ones you could for lives but otherwise move on.
Great review. This is kinda long but worth the read: So my first play through was quite the experience. Just weeks before Crash 4 was released I stumbled upon my old N64 console and realized that as much as I played and loved Mario 64 as a kid, I have never actually beaten the game 100% with 120 stars. So I went back and started a whole new game. I dedicated my time to get every single star on a level before moving on to the next room. I would not go to a new level before getting all the stars in the level before it. I would also not face Bowser until I got every single star from every single level in that particular section of the game. By the time I went to face the final Bowser I had 120 stars completed. Now this was not an easy accomplishment in the least but there is something inherently satisfying about it. Something rewarding about getting all of the stars in a level and knowing I don’t have to go back to that level again for any reason. Knowing I can move forward in the game without ever having to go backwards. This made the finale that much more satisfying to receive the full reward of completion without having to put in the work again after receiving only the half ending. I defeated the final Bowser and finally got to see Yoshi on top of the castle and get the special thank you from the developers that I never got to see as a child in the 90’s. As soon as I completed the entire Mario 64 game Crash 4 was released. Because I was fully conditioned to complete levels in their entirety before moving forward at that point. So I took my Mario 64 approach and applied it to Crash 4. I did not go to the next level without getting all 6 gems. The order in which I would do it made it more palatable: First run through I would focus on finding every single box (which was the most challenging as it required the most focus) If I was able to do it on my first attempt (which was true and fine for the first few stations but later in the game of course I did not know about secret portions of the levels until a few more play throughs) This run through had a bit more focus but I did not pressure myself to not dying 3 times. Of course I would try but if I died that 4th time I would not punish myself and restart. I would just keep going to find all the boxes. That was pressure enough. Second run through, after breaking all the boxes, I would then dedicate the run to finding the hidden gem. I would also try to do this dying less than 3 times. Because I’m not looking for and smashing all of the boxes there’s a lot less pressure on me and risk of dying. So I play it safe, careful, but ultimately I’m just looking for the gem so I don’t die too often. Getting both the 3 deaths or less gem and hidden gem in this second play through. This strategy worked out fine until I was introduced to the extra timelines and N.Verted levels lol. Then I went all the way back to the first level and did it all again to catch up to my current level. It was a bit of a chore at times but it was also a fun challenge. I caught up to my current level quickly because I knew where all the boxes were in all the previous levels. Then it was the same system from there except this time I had 12 gems to get before I moved on to the next level. And if you’ve gone through the level getting all 6 then the next 6 shouldn’t be too hard as I found I’ve gotten really used to the level at that point. Muscle memory was on point really increasing my skills preparing me for the harder levels to come. Flashback Tapes: I would also dedicate the 3 deaths or less gem to not dying long enough to get the tape in that run. I wanted to knock out more birds with one stone as I could. The later levels were far more challenging but I did not move on to the next level until I got; ALL 12 Gems, (Any) Time Relic, & Find AND COMPLETE the VHS Tape from that level. After beating the tape I would move on to the next level. Now that’s dedication. I wouldn’t pressure myself too much on time relics as I’m not a speed runner so I was fine with Sapphire relics if that’s what I got but for the most part I always ended up getting Gold anyway. When I got to the final Cortex fight I had every single gem, level, time relic, and flashback tape completed, I am currently at 102% Completion. It was a challenge and at times frustrating but it encouraged me to focus more and get better at the game. So much so that after I beat it (again, just my first time around) I missed playing the game so much that I decided to go back and try to get the perfect relics, I saved those for last because I assumed 1. They would require my skills to have been refined enough to do efficiently and 2. That after beating the game there isn’t too much a of a reason to go back unless I play multiplayer. But the Perfect Relics gave me a chance to keep playing the game which I STILL wanted to do after beating it at 102%. So now I have dedicated myself to getting all the Perfect Relics and at this point my skills, muscle memory, focus, and level knowledge makes these perfect relics sooooo much easier to get than I originally thought it would be first time around. Also to mention that I got a few perfect relics without trying my first play through. Atm I am currently at 29 Perfect Relics out of 38. Not too much more to do. Harder levels ahead but hey, I have beaten both Polar levels with Perfect Relics with ease considering my first play though I died 130 times on Bears Repeating lol. Doesn’t Bear repeating 130 times I’ll tell ya that lol. But on my Perfect Relic play through it only took me 4 attempts to get all boxes without dying. And this is on BOTH Polar Levels. They are done and out of the way. Now I am enjoying the levels in a different sense, feels like a whole new game trying to beat it without dying but also not having to worry about gems, tapes, or time relics. So after beating every single level to completion I can safely say this... It was hard, challenging and sometimes frustrating, but overall it was fun and enjoyable being able to move forward without having to go back. Now I have gone back because I miss the game and I WANT to rather than I HAVE to. I enjoyed beating it that way and it made it more fun because I would find frustration in having to beat it and now go back and do everything else in it. It’s overwhelming to see so much incompletions that needs doing. I felt good knowing before moving on to the next level I had every single gem, time relic, and flashback tape completed. I found it challenging but not impossible. It didn’t frustrate me enough to where I thought it was never gonna be able to beat it. I knew I could and I knew I would And I did lol. Not too bad. Just an opinion anyway. I have never found myself to be a completionist but after beating Mario 64 to completion I found a satisfaction in beating Crash 4 the same way.
I love this game. I love that they upped the difficulty and had really well-designed platforming challenges. It's probably my favourite of the quadrilogy.
I know this video is a couple years old now and I didn’t play crash 4 till it was free on ps+ a while back but getting 106% completion was a true achievement. It was even harder because my ps5 controller has extreme stick drift from day one. I enjoyed crash 4 though and I’m glad I got to experience it
As a casual run its okay but still frustrating since it's basically impossible to 100% in one try. As a completionist it fails to keep me playing. Since you'll spend hours just to 100% a level. To me that is not Crash. Also Inverted mode is completely unnecessary.
The time trials and perfect relics are really where the game starts to fall apart. Some of these levels are just not designed to be sped through LOGICALLY or done in one go. You have to 'master' the incredibly finnicky spin slide and cut massive corners. Avoid so many obstacles that Toys For Bob puts IN YOUR PATH intentionally by replacing them with REGULAR CRATES. Alot of the hidden or worst boxes become time crates. And thats not even the worst. The levels are full of timed gimmicks and luck-based platforming like rope swings, fire crates, bouncing deathballs, 2D moving rail sections, and horrible hitboxes. All that and not even mentioning the horrid vehicle controls. Its a fucking mess. The only thing consistent about these levels is how poorly designed they are to speed through. Id much rather swallow my controller than rely on the triple spin and slide spin. Not a goddamn thing in this game can be considered a 'fair' challenge. The games level design is so cluttered and bloated that you dont know your ass from the hidden nitro\TNT that you careen yourself towards. its entirely too fast to register where youre going to land.
For me, the N-sane relics and inverted mode were extremely hard, but completely fine. But time trials really lost me. They were difficult enough with the running shoes in previous games, and triple spin is just spammy, annoying, unreliable, exhausting to constantly spam and detonates every explosive in its vicinity. I still don't know why they had to switch the speedy boots for that.
@@umbranelegance9034 "its entirely too fast to register where youre going to land." maybe because your reaction time is too slow ? lol imagine being that salty over not being able to do the relics which are literally meant to be very difficult
Super late, but Brio in this game is for me the perfect example of the care they put into the writing of this game. The other Post ND games just kinda ignored that Brio hates Cortex and likes the bandicoots, but this game constantly reiterates that Brio is planning on backstabbing Cortex and that he considers the bandicoots his friends. He just thinks they're helping him test out his latest formula, with the end goal being to use it on them and make them stronger. His maladjusted, mad scientist background just means these "tests" always have lethal consequences he doesn't consider. It would've been easy to just toss him in and go "He's BAD again!" But they went out of their way to give Brio a narrative reason for doing what he does without ignoring the past games. They really wanted this to be a true, NEW Crash game built off the OT that pushes things forward.
I agree, as a completionist this game is brutal. Some levels are not designed for the perfect relics at all, missable boxes with points of no return, its just sadistic. I did manage to 106% it, surprisingly the platinum time trials were a relaxing break from the perfect relics. I loved the game, but the developers went overboard with the difficulty. Part of the originals' charm is you can beat them fully without too much stress, but still a fair challenge. I think they missed the mark a bit there.
Am I the only one who loved to have so much to do, and, would be even happier if there were time trials for the N.Verted levels as well? Its challenging, yes, but thats how you can squeeze so many hours of gameplay in it! Love Crash so much! Crash 4 is the best game I’ve ever played hands down! Love your videos Lewis! Congrats buddy! Your love for Crash is relatable and captivating! Thanks for all the great content 🙏🏻👍🏻🤙🏻🌪
It's really forced gameplay though. As he mentioned, all the repetition gets very boring. It's like really how many times do we need to repeat the SAME levels? For the gems, for the inverted, for the time trial, for the n sane, and now you want MORE time trials and more repetition? I think I'll pass on that. The game is hard enough as it is. Last thing it needs is more (of all things) time trials.
For a casual player who doesn't care about 100% completion, yes absolutely! The game is fun and fantastic! However for completionists out there who want to get 100% completion every time they get a new game then... It's one of the worst Crash games ever and it's not worth a few costumes and 106% ending. Because there is so much repetition with N.verted stages, bullshit hidden boxes that sometimes are better hidden than hidden gems. Different character stages (dingodile timeline etc.) continue the other half of the stage with Crash/Coco so you play the same half of the stage with just diferent box placement, also sometimes these effects in N.verted mode can give you eye ache for example comic artstyle in snow world, pixels in Cortex Castle and i could go on. Yes there are a lot of nice effects such as the ones where you get to paint the stages by spinning. Also perfection relics, oh boy. Why just why?! Also not forget to mention that weird spin slide move for the time trials. It just annoys me so much. So yeah that's my opinion.
Just wanna mention something about the enhanced shadow option. My problem with turning it off is the fact that there's no drop shadow directly underneath Crash. That's what platformers have always done in the past, but this game opted for more realistic shadows, influenced by the light source without an option to change them to drop shadows. Yeah, the enhanced shadow does the same thing, but I'd prefer something more subtle. Kinda like the shadows in the original games!! ...I love Crash 4 tho.
As much As people hate on the 106% completion. Personally from the perspective of trophy hunter and Hardcore crash fan I had the utmost fun getting the platinum and playing this beautiful game
I had a lot of fun getting platinums for the n sane trilogy and CTR (I’m a new crash fan) and I can’t wait to do it for this one because it will be so much fun
Honestly I don't mind the nightmarishly difficult grind to fully complete the game. I don't think such a feat should be accomplished by casual players, it just creates a higher skill ceiling and lots to play for those who are actually dedicated. It's something I've personally really loved about the Crash Bandicoot series.
Wanted to see how other people felt about it because when I first started I was worried it wouldn't be good and I'd be disappointed, especially due to the trend of how new, anticipated games aren't good anymore. Well, I started playing and loved the first few hours of it. I then went back to start collecting everything and doing everything I began hating it until I didn't want to play. I then made myself realize the stress and irritation of collecting everything before a first playthrough is unnecessary, so I'm going to just continue the game casually. Loving it again. TL;DR- first playthrough- just play the game. Just play it for fun and to beat it. Collect stuff that you find, but don't keep repeating levels and stressing to find everything. Do that once you beat it and played it.
Excellent review, really loved this game. I recently got the Crash 4 art book as a gift and after flipping through it and reading some excerpts it really shows how much love and care toys for Bob out into this game
The main issue I have with it are the graphics. I get that nowadays when people want to do really easy cartoon visuals that translate well from concept art to execution, they just use basic looking unreal engine looking rocks and wood. Personally to me I think you can pull it off without it like the original trilogy has, but it's not even the only problem. A ton of the sound effects like explosions, boxes breaking, and belly flopping all have any impact and punch sucked out of them. Those two gripes were the same ones I had with the spyro trilogy who also worked on this, so I guess they haven't really gotten past that phase yet
As a crash fan, I have completed all games in the series at 100% easily. This is completely impossible, i die 30-50 times in each level,The game have huge perspective problems, bad hitbox and a ton of bug and glitches. Really for me is 4.5/10
I know this isn't a popular opinion, but the nightmarish time 106%ing this game actually what I love about this game. Feels so damn good to get this Platinum trophy.
I don’t get complaining about the boss fights not making you replay bits that you’ve already beaten if you die, it’s just wasting your time. Same with game overs
I think the levels with the different characters don't lead back into the same exact levels. I'm pretty sure I remember the lay outs being harder especially with crate placement. You can especially tell the difference in the bonus levels, some of them are hard to begin with but when you replay after doing the alternate timeline character stuff, they can be even harder
I think the N. Sanly perfect relics should've been like the platinum relics in the past games. In other words, they shouldn't be mandatory for 106%, but just there for the people who want them.
Short answer No. They messed up the movement... In a crash game. Thats impressive. In every single game Ou could slide jump and carry the momentum forward, even had animations for it. Ruined the entire game for me
I think the movement is good. It’s different - less snappy, more floaty, but I think that works better for the level design of Crash 4. Also, I love the slide spin and triple spin mechanics.
I was able to 100% the game earlier this year, and I have no regrets saying that I haven't touched it since. I'm not even attempting time trials or getting all the n sanely perfect relics. Trying to complete the game completed killed any fun this game had. The difficulty is through the roof for a supposed children's game
This gane is the one good thing to come out 2020. When we needed our favorite orange marsupial and cheese colored evil scientist to deliver, they did. This is the best Crash game to exist, in _my_ opinion.
I love the wrath of cortex reference in the final cortex boss fight. using all the masks to defeat crash like how crunch did in that game. who do you like more out of the quantum masks or the elementals in crash overall? the quantum masks are honestly so cool but I still the the elementals and crunch to return in a future game someday.
Just from watching this, the little circle when you jump is a reason in itself to give this a try lol that’s always been my only thing with crash games is the depth perception
Excellent comprehensive review young Lewis! Appreciate the time you put into this thorough job :) I agree with everything you say up until 19mins where I actually felt the Shnurgle was way easier with a better hit box than polar, I hit every crate first try I believe and had maybe 5 deaths on my first playthrough. In the last dimension I kinda wish Past Cortex had closer to his original design to pay homage to the franchise And I hope they take your final recommendations forward for Crash 5 :D
I think it most definitely is. It's not particularly ground-breaking or innovative, and it doesn't offer some fascinatingly engaging narrative or some grandiose adventure across an open world, but what it does deliver is pure fun. It's almost like a "back to basics" game, so to speak, that's what I love most about it; yet while it emulates the old Crash titles it still feels refreshing and different, and there's a whole bunch of little details and features that add up to a phenomenal whole. One of the best games of the year IMHO, which is not something I expected to ever say about a modern Crash Bandicoot game. I've never cared about getting trophies or platinums (and quite frankly I really don't understand why anyone does) - IMO all achievements should be intrinsic to the game and experienced within it, rather than being some external to-do list - so the difficulty of such is not a factor for me. As long as I can complete the game without having to glitch or cheat, I'm happy.
Funny enough I never beat this game but have gotten pretty close. Only reason is because I did what you said not to do. It’s definitely not my first crash game but for some reason I decided to go into it playing it like that. I have played many levels over and over. 💀
This is so true I gave up on collecting crates after finishing some levels with one or two crates missing. As a casual player who likes to collect everything this game felt like a nightmare and impossible it felt like this game was built for speed runners who have god reflexes.
Game is good I just beat it last night. I'll get 106% eventually right now I'm shooting for completing all time lines, flashback relics and N. Verted mode. Once that's done I'll be shooting for 100% and 106%. They key I find is patience. Stick to 1 level until you get everything and move on to the next. Dying is part of learning a level. I died 130 times on cortex castle first run through it, now I can beat in less than 3. If it takes a year to 106% I'll get it.
I play Crash/Spyro games going for 100%, so I would have to say that it's the best Crash game to play, but the worst to complete. The only things I didn't do were the perfect relics and time trials. Perfect relics I did them until that level with the hoverboard. And the Time Trials I didn't even try. I think that replacing running shoes with the triple spin mechanic removes any of the fun that the time trials could have. I agree with pretty much everything said on the video, aside from the side characters. I didn't like to play as Cortex and Dingo that much tbh.
If the straight moment to moment platforming and 100% challenge had been balanced better, this would be like one of the best modern platformers The pure feel of control and the level design is super fun (even if the stages are too long) But as it stands, I’ve started runs of this game twice and each time gotten burnt out before actually beating it. Just waaaay too bloated. And the 100% challenge is just comedically evil.
Nice review vid! I've been subbed to your channel for a little while, I like your videos and reactions to certain challenges in certain Crash levels :P Gave this vid a like :)
I feel like the Cortex levels get a lot of hate for no reason. I loved them. I didn't love Dingodile though which seems to be everyone's favorite. Slowing down to suck up tnt and slowly carry it to shoot it at something is boring to me. The whole vacuum mechanic is cool for the platforming but slowing the gameplay to a crawl to suck things up just ruins it to me.
@@ltlsWhatltIs don't get me wrong I loved crash 4 it was one of my favourite games of last year. But getting the secret ending nah fuck that not worth the effort
I honestly didn't like how many hidden crates there were, plus having to redo levels with those side missions or inverted playthroughs. Some levels had over 500 crates which is far to many this was definitely the hardest crash game I've played.
As a casual player now I feel full completion is a nightmare yes but as a Crash game it's so fun to play I honestly don't mind spending hours playing the levels. I'll probably never get 106% by doing the Perfect runs but if I can do everything else I'll be happy with that and it'll last me for months
I’m happy that I went ahead and looked up all the skins and picked the 2 or 3 I really liked, went back to those specific levels to unlock, and continued the rest of the game casually.
