Is Danganronpa Another Despair Academy Worth Playing? (Non Spoiler Review) 

I was right, this was mentioned by Rei. Yet another thing that made the culprit of case 1 more irredeemable than Sayaka. And even Leon.

Sayaka is the only person in the entire series that attempts to kill without knowing about Class Trials. This makes her a little bit more sympathetic in my eyes, because unlike most other killers who were willing to sacrifice many people for their cause, she was only going to sacrifice one. Her motive was to save her friends, and from that perspective, one life against five is honestly somewhat understandable. Still bad, seeing as she had no way of knowing if she could save her friends, but the point I'm making is that she at least didn't want to kill the whole class, which is better than most killers. It does however make her bloody 11037 message weird. The possible explanations we are given are that she either wanted to bring Leon to justice or make sure nobody suspected Makoto as the killer. Neither of these make sense as she was unaware that any of that would happen, as far as she knew, Leon would be let out immediately since he killed Sayaka. The only reasonable explanations I can think of under those circumstances are that either she was just so delirious she forgot how this all worked, or she did this to guarantee Leon got set free. There aren't cameras in the bathroom, right? Maybe she figured that Monokuma couldn't truly know who killed Sayaka with no camera in the bathroom, perhaps it was accidental suicide or something. So she wrote down Leon's name, so Monokuma would then have proof it was him, and set him free. Which would be very kind of her, considering Leon killed her, although he probably killed for a similar reason she did so she might have been sympathetic? Admittedly, her thinking all that before she died is unrealistic, but I prefer it as an explanation over just being delirious. Plus, it would give her some character that she desperately needs.

@@Seraserastria That’s wrong. She might not have known about the class trials or what would happen, but the rules still stated you needed to kill without being discovered. Meaning Leon would not have escaped, quite the opposite. The whole reason that she did the room switch was so people would think Makoto did it and she wouldn’t be discovered. So her motivation was as the game suggested. She wrote the dying message so Leon would be discovered and not be able to escape. She did this either to get back at Leon, or because she felt bad about betraying Makoto. The latter makes more sense to me personally since she clearly liked Makoto, and it was only once she saw the motive did she feel she had no choice but to do it. Plus the game implies the reason she failed to kill Leon was because she was conflicted, and it makes sense.

I can certainly understand why you don't like the end twist. It goes a little crazy with what it does with the characters so it's definitely going to have mixed opinions

I probably have a lower opinion on the game compared to most DR fans. I prefer all 3 of the mainline DR games to this but I was at least able to play this game to completion which tells me that I did enjoy my time with it overall
