Great video Don and Dave, thank you both 👍👌👏. Super sound advice about how to talk with customers before touching a job. I have my own sole trader garden maintenance business and will ask a new customer what they want to spend - can be tricky because it can look like I'm trying to get maximum cash out of them when actually all I'm trying to do is advise how much of a job I'll get done on their budget. With return customers it's sooo much easier as the relationship gets much easier! Thanks again, appreciate your time and effort.

I’m just wondering what was the whinnying sound from where? Thank You, your Channel is so informative.

Hope it was a hell of a deal, I got mine 4 or 5 years ago new in the spring clearout at home despot for $139 I thought if it gives me one season it will be worth it. That little machine is a beast, change the oil every spring and it chucks west coast snow and ice like it's got a second stage and a REAL engine. HELL OF A DEAL and four stroke
@QuaabQueb
@QuaabQueb 2 года назад
I see a lot of those single stage machines have this half baffle that is on the carburetor in place of an air cleaner. For some reason unknown to me the baffle is always pointed up. It acts like a direct scoop for rain and snow that inevitably drips in to the carburetor. People often leave these machines outside and the cylinder fills with water. I always install that baffle pointing downward so nothing drips in to the carb.

@QuaabQueb

@@stevemoore8599 every machine I have come across has it pointed up from the factory. It is also shown that way in the drawings. My thinking is it is installed that way to prevent snow and slush from being kicked up off the ground in to the carb, however that is very unlikely. In my experience it is far more likely to collect water and snow pointed upward.

Just got one of these for free from a neighbor about a week ago. Been soaking all the bolts and penetrating oil as very rusty and crusty. So far swapped out the plastic electric starter motor gear have a new OEM carburetor rebuild kit, spark plug, Amazon Chinese special aftermarket paddles and scraper bar kit to install to complete the repair. If it wasn't for my free labor this thing would be scrapped or parted out as well.

I have a relatively new ariens pro snowblower with a Briggs engine. The starter pull cord started jamming to an abrupt stop about mid pull. The last one, the handle flew out of my hand, broke and sucked the cord in. I started it with the electric start and it ran fine yesterday. Today, the electric start wouldn't turn the motor over the first couple tries and then it started and ran. I bought it new last year and it has been used about 10-15 times. The oil level is good. Any ideas? Possibly something simple or should I not try to start it until someone checks it out?

Thanks fellas, this brings up a good question. Should i repair it, or cut my losses, drop back and punt. My logic would be if i had the room set this aside and maybe a good motor falls in my lap down the road. Otherwise its probably not worth investing the time and money on this, would be better to just buy a working unit especially for someone unable to make the repair on their own . But i work with a guy who will spend more than its worth on things to keep them outta the landfill. So its a personal choice.

Hey Dony and Dave. Here in Michigan, I can buy those little snowblowers for $50 in running condition all day. Good policies indeed. Usually customers think they are going to get an overhaul for $75. I like that you spent time to look at it anyway, you never know, could have been something simple (debris caught in flywheel/jammed up recoil), you never know. You are never going to come out ahead on these deals, just part of customer service. Unfortunately, the only way to repair if is with a new powerhead, the part alone probably costs almost as much as a new little toro. Every once in awhile you/customer might get lucky, and have a wrecked unit with a good engine, but that is mighty rare. You will probably end up tossing this poor thing out in your storage shed, and pick it clean for repairs on other units.. Oh well, you gave it a chance which is what is important...

32:1 was what they originally ran because back when the machine was made the two cycle oils weren't nearly as good. Today you should be running it more at 40:1 or 50:1. You can confirm this yourself by looking on Toro's website with the model & serial Their nice little light weight machines.

@@ericvaughn1126 it'll run fine on 32:1, you'll probably get a little less power, more smoke out the exhaust and it'll carbon up alot quicker. The S200, S620, Snowmaster are basically the exact same machines with just a rubber flap that spins. It's pretty fun ripping them around in the snow

I cannot even give those type of snowblowers away. I have several two stroke throwers that are in great shape and no one wants them. I am done dealing with the two stroke throwers. Same with cheap weed eaters.

I'm glad this old design is no more. Bought a new 4-cycle Toro from The Home Depot website in 2019 for $499 because the governor broke internally on the old one (which ran rich and heavy for another season with a $14 carburetor until it clapped out.) Word to the wise, don't be $120 into a $200 machine that is 20+ years old. It isn't worth it. Now prices for new are higher than ever!

These things are junk. Not the Toro I use to know. The plastic chute cracks and it’s over $150.

A suggestion: talking over each other makes the video difficult to follow.

Have you heard the good news of Jesus Christ? The good news is Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15 1-4) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
