@@LajaHiggins true that Ayton is not as bad as Simmons, but still one that refuses to get better, lacks effort on the court and entitled off the court.
This a good one he’s weird case . For sure not a bust , but he lack the mentality. He too good for his own good and comfortable doing the bare minimum .Once his stats slip he’ll be out the league Because he already lacks the professionalism
I feel like he did steroids in college to drafted, all the ferociousness he played with in college disappeared and he got smaller in the arms/shoulders
There’s just no reason that Ayton shouldn’t be a perennial All-Star by now. Just none. He’s got too much upside, hasn’t been injured. But, his attitude towards the game is what hurts him. He’s out there playing the game like he doesn’t love it. Treats the game like “whatever.” Just a wasting away of potential and that’s on his own accord. SMH…
yeah ayton is technically their best player but i feel like he’ll get traded either be4 the season starts or be4 the deadline . they didn’t draft clingan with the 7th pick to not play him and not to mention, they still have rob Williams . someone has to go and with rob injury concerns and clingan’s potential , ayton seems like the odd man out . he needs to be on a good team . maybe Memphis could snag him be4 the season or at the deadline
Ok here we go. JT you once did a Stunted Growth on Michael Jordan. You stated he could've won more chips and treated his teammates better. I have another player that's as obvious as the nose on your face. An athlete that is in the conversation of being the G.O.A.T. center but could've been the stand alone best. His dominance was always tempered with his reputation for a lack of committment to the game. Despite having four rings on two different teams and being named one of the 50 and 75 greatest players in NBA history, many including Shannon Sharpe have criticzed him publicly for being less than what he could have been if he was just more dedicated. His lack of professionalism interfered with his relationships with Penny and Kobe, both of whom he apologized. As lovable as he is, many feel he could have done more. Next Stunted Growth: Shaquille O'Neal.
A really good one. Shaq’s career is such a complex one. It’s not too often a guy can win FMVP twice and avg 30 & 10 and still have folks question if he coudve done more.
i doubt it... Portland drafted Clingan, and like, they drafted him when there were better fits around. Clingan is their 5 of the future... My guess... Ayton doesnt get shit for touches, plays 25min or less.
Is it time for a D’Angelo Russell stunted growth ? I fw him and think he just hasn’t had the best of luck since Brooklyn but how do yall feel about him?
That’s really it, he hasn’t found a consistent home, got traded after his all star year in bk than traded to Minnesota a year after, then got traded back to the lakers that’s 4 teams in 6 years. no stability which isn’t his fault still productive tho
Great points. But I think Monty williams as a coach his coaching style doesn't sit well with me when he was with the suns. I find him rubbing alot of players the wrong way at times, his decisions to bench and start certain players and when to take his ego out of it. To publicly agreed to have your center traded for someone else is not a good move, that's all ego right there to me
He had a lot of questions coming out of college especially his iq on the defensive end nowadays you cant just be tall and get buy like you use to back in the day
A lot of draft picks are made based on college career and physical skills. Ayton has both but totally misses the passion for the game and the mamba mentality that is so important to be a number 1 draft pick (especially before Luka, Trae young etc..) and improve your game. Ayton basically is the same college player that it was at Arizona..but at almost 27 years is not enough
Let’s talk about how BAD Portland has screwed up drafting and acquiring players: Sam Bowie over JORDAN Greg Oden over DURANT Ayton acquisition 🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
He seems like he doesn't care that much because he got his money. He's a serviceable guy we wouldn't call soft but just doesn't have that mentality in basketball.
Great vid! I think Ayton is a weird case, because on it’s face: he’s actually pretty good. The thing is he had so much potential coming out, he should be one of the more dominant bigs. Not Joker or even Embiid level, but maybe right after him. It doesn’t help that in a re-draft, atleast 3 other dudes go ahead of him now.
Can’t knock the HUSTLE. He finessed all y’all😂😂😂😂. Did what he could to get in the league and SECURE THE BAG and dude went straight on to CRUISE CONTROL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷🏽♂️
Once I learned he went to some of high school, all of college, and played with the suns, all in Arizona I knew he became complacent. Then he got his big contract too. He just not hungry anymore since he has everything
@RatedMRR you are part of the issue. Still validating this guy. When will he ever look at the mirror and realize that he is the reason for not getting the ball passed to him. He cannot secure a post up position if his life depends on it.
@@haydotzero3372 He was playing with rookies and Gleague guys. There were plenty times.Ayton had his man pinned down and Portland failed to past him the ball.
To me phoenix was perfect fit...him and booker could have been nash and Stoudemire 2.0..that was the situation..well maybe..but very good..he has the talent...hes not embiid or joker..but he can be top 5 center when locked in..he is a 7fter that can play..so i think he will always be able to have a job in the nba..but if he doesnt start hooping..max contract and starting maybe out the way soon...
Did anyone watch Ayton post all-star break? He was absolutely great. He might not be Shaq, but the dude was averaging a CONSISTENT 20/10 over his last twenty games or so while being nagged by injuries. I know it's Portland, but damn, it's wild people keep pushing outdated information for this dude. He showed enough the second half of last season that he at least earned a "Let's see if he can continue that this upcoming season." Ifk what it is about him that hurts people's feelings so much, it's weird how much people seem to dislike dudes like he and Rudy Gobert. Mfs legit act like those are their kids or something, just weirdo obsessive behavior.
Dude it's been like that since his rookie year. Making you say hey look what he did at the end of the season! Nxt year is his year! Only to see him do jack shit.
He doesnt represent the dog and hunger that usually comes out of The Bahamas...we lost to by 6 to Spain in the pre qualifiers and he played exactly the same...no heart
I'd love to see one on Poku, the next great potential unicorn who seemed to possess all the tools to be a flashy 7'0" point guard, and who had everyone hailing Sam Presti as a shrewd genius. Fast forward a couple of seasons and he's no longer in the league (for now). Why did NBA teams not give the undefinable Poku more opportunity to realize his potential?
I’m Aytons biological father he’s has every potential to do the right things to make his craft better he just got to focus on being consistent dominating that center he is. He can be the best just by being humble.
Ayton is a perplexing situation - he should be more dominant, but he's not aggressive enough as illustrated by his unbelievably terrible free-throw rate. Someone of his size should be getting to the line a lot more, but he relies on mid-range jumpers and baby hooks too much. The tools he possesses are much more suited for banging in the post.
I think deandre ayton just wants to be in the nba to get rich. He's not in it to win championships nor because he loves basketball. On draft day, when asked what success looks like to him, he answered "getting to my second contract."
Like... Portland drafed Clingan... I dont think they believe in Ayton either. My guess, either he is moved, OR, plays out his deal ala Ben Simmons, and is made fun of for a few years, till he is out the league.
Ayton will never be the elite player that people expected him to be. He does not draw contact the way a big man that has the tools he has should. I mean this season he only shot 1.4 free throws a game this season. He lacks the consistency to be a top two option on a championship team. He is very versatile defensively when he is fully engaged, but he needs to be more engaged on that end. I could see him doing well on the Pelicans, because they already have Zion, Murray, and McCollum to take the scoring load!!
“Stunded Growth” implies that all these players were stunted/held back by others, and yet the videos prove that, in most cases, the player is to blame, not wanting to work and change his game to be a better player.
We have seen many former players being broke after the playing days are done. Maybe playing for your first max contract is smarter than playing for a championship.
Unfortunately Ayton will always be known as the number 1 pick drafted before Luka. If he won that championship with Phoenix I doubt we’d be having this discussion and accept it as the team needed him. Honestly it’s sad to see a guy waste his potential but for some people making it is enough for them. The only solace is he has the capability to get a championship with the right team if he cares to, unlike bagley.
