Yes,... that video I make because that people get the idea that they need to choose the right materials for each applications. And that is not only,... "ah I will just put little of this and little of that" and then hope for success.

@@cayrex Seen a lot of these vids over the years and always wondered that. Made homemade gunpowder as a kid & wondered why activated charcoal is so much WORSE than briquettes - a little chemistry twist for you, there.

try using only the graphite blocks with copper current collectors and a super thin separator and see what happens, for example copper, graphite, separator, graphite copper ....... electrolyte your choice.

much if not most of that power curve cannot be recovered by BMS. Maybe use an offset like 60%? I guess the universal lab method is to just log data onto a chart - even better. The 2 outcomes are so completely different (~20:1), it's hard to imagine the data side-by-side. Good vid tho!

Where can I get sodium sulfate because it is not available in my country? Is there another alternative? I do not know where to get sodium sulfate from.

Hi can you tell me what the Potassium Ferricyanide is used for? Thank you...

@@cayrex Thank you, I was aware that it was used in photography but I wasn't quite sure what role it played in your electrolyte mixture. I have been going through your channel and you have a lot of great information here. I'm going to be trying my hand at some of these battery projects I've found on your channel so thank you for sharing this information.

Great video, I just have a few questions though: 1. How do you know what voltage to charge the super cap at, why did you choose to charge it at 1.7v? 2. How do you measure the total capacitance of the super cap?

Question (and admittedly one that is probably away from your intention with this video): is there an academic paper or is it from your experience that guided you to add the small qty of KFerricyanide to the electrolyte ? I've seen the use of this in both secondary and photochemically active cells but have not seen it used before in supercap electrolytes although I suspect the principle is the same as its use in secondary cells. Anyway, I will of course go search the available literature but if you have a paper already on hand, will save me some time in working through the fundamentals, advantages, & limitations/tradeoffs of its use. Thanks !
@cayrex
@cayrex Год назад
Yes it's both,... studies and experience. The KFerricyanide can be used as redox additive in electrolytes. Besides, the aforementioned inorganic redox additives, K3Fe(CN)6 and K4Fe(CN)6, are the most widely used redox additives in aqueous electrolyte for supercapacitors. Is not only one paper and also not some specific paper, because you have many sources for redox additives. More you will find if you search for redox additive for electrolytes in supercapacitors. Or " hexacyanoferrate redox additive aqueous electrolyte" if you want to be focused into potassium hexacyanoferrate

Super tiny bit of silver nitrate in distilled water. Put carbon in it and heat till all water evaporation done. This will raise the conductive power.
@cayrex
@cayrex Год назад
More cheaper will be tin chloride
@ThailandAmazing
@ThailandAmazing Год назад
@@cayrex but silver is the most conductive material on earth. You can desolve a tiny tiny bit silver in a acid base of nitric then dilute in distilled water. Add carbon powder in beaker use stir rod and heat as hot as feasible. At some point the powder will turn to powder. If you like to lower the acid rinse in a diluted electrolyte.
@ThailandAmazing
@ThailandAmazing Год назад
If this a battery the silver may not be preferred because of discharge rate. But capacitor you want fast charge and fast discharge. With least resistance. Right?
@ThailandAmazing
@ThailandAmazing Год назад
Oh don’t breath the steam could kill you.
@cayrex
@cayrex Год назад
@@ThailandAmazing Correct about the silver. And silver have also good resistance to many chemicals. It is for supercapacitor. And here was needed biger surface area, pore size, etc for geting better capacity. But yes silver impregnation can help to higher conductivity.

@cayrex
@cayrex Год назад
Graphite? Who's talking about graphite? Carbon source, yes. Let me help you a little bit. Charcoal is a lightweight black carbon residue. And what I did in the video? I use low qualty carbon source that I can find,... so charcoal. That many people will get the idea that they need to choose suitable materials in terms of making good devices.
