Codemasters have just released more news about their upcoming EA Sports WRC. We finally saw some actual gameplay footage, the full car list is revealed and we have exclusive information for you on the driving physics - is it a full-on SIM? The Seat Cordoba WRC is back, after only being ever featured in CMR2.0 over 20 years ago. That alone almost sells it to me.

@@agy83 Yeah if you install a bunch of mods, RBR does have a stupidly vast collection of cars... but the base game has maybe 8 cars. And no Cordoba.

I don't trust EA to not screw up everything. Even if they don't, Dirt Rally 2.0 left some pretty big shoes to fill, both graphics and mechanics-wise.

It's by virtue still a Dirt Rally 3.0 because it's pretty much developed by Codemasters, more specifically the same dedicated team behind Dirt Rally sub-franchise. It's not another game that's being uniquely developed in isolation from the Dirt franchise's development cycle.

So they already had a fairly solid foundation to work on! Hopefully this translates in to an amazing experience. Even if it's tainted by EA

Definitely agree, dirt 2.0 is the best rally game to date imo . Hopefully EA doesn’t force code masters to make drastic changes to the series and do the typical EA micro transactions everywhere

I think the authentic WRC and the seasonal option are the 2 best things! Probably it will be the best rally sim ever, but first we need to know if it's a simulation or plus an arcade IMO. Small thing: No Corolla and Celica is a pity!

I paid practically nothing for DR1 @ 2 and they got me into the sport. If it could be at least more DR2 I'd be a happy guy and intend to pick it up sometime after the career breakdown. I don't pre-order games, but with that loyalty discount I'm going to absorb the risk on this one.

I'm curious about the damage model. Usually developers will play it safe when it comes to officially licensed games. I'm hoping to be as good as Dirt Rally 2 or even better.

I was just going to comment this! We've had problems for years with games like F1 or Gran Turismo not developing a good damage model. However, Rallying is almost synonymous with damage and that's a crucial part of the sports. I really hope they don't overlook it and, like you said, make it like the last DIrt Rally games or even better. I remember Evolution Studios' rally games had amazing damage engines

Im not worried about the game itself as the team from Dirt 3 is on it. I am, however, worried about how EA will EA it up. EA is effectively the eater of worlds when it comes to game franchises

A great video may I say, very informative! I'm sold on this game, but I still don't want it to be very much "user friendly" to the point it stops being a simulation. Project Cars and Dirt Rally felt fine in a controller, I hope they continue on that path! Also, using unreal engine really looks to make an impact in stage designs, which looks beautiful! Excited for the classic rallies like Corsica and, who knows, Sanremo! Sure would help promote the new tarmac physics!

In general, we hope for sims to become more "user friendly" when it is "around" the actual diving, as in better menues, explaining things, easier to ste up custom champs etc. we don´t want to loose the simulation in the actual driving, thats for sure! - Rene

I've seen a lot of videos on scene creation in Unreal Engine 4 back then. It's really fast and efficient to build them. I think one big point is, that there are many people out there who are already experienced to create scenes in Unreal Engine 4, so it was easy to find many people to help with the many locations.

Guys. I had dirt rally 2.0 on my ps4 with a fanatec csl elite P1 wheel and it worked perfect. But now i have a ps5 with a fanatec csl elite wheel base and the fanatec rs clubsport wheel. And i wanted to play dirt rally but the wheel doesn’t connect to dirt rally 2.0 does anyone whats the problem is and how i can make it work again?

Dirt 2.0 is a fantastic starting point to build on. If they deliver with better physics / handling, more cars and a greater variety of stages then it will be a success for me. As someone who races exclusively in VR I hope they have learnt from DR2 and offer a better initial experience without needing to download third party filters. Excited!

My biggest thing is the suspension flex that we are not seeing in the new gen rally cars. In real life they flex like crazy, in the clips they have shown in the game I barely see any suspension flex.

Will the game be finished by launch? Probably not. Will it match the hype it’s promising? Probably not. I still preordered it because the last sliver of hope for this game is with codemasters not being rushed by ea to shove out a product that’ll get left behind.

I believe that codemasters will treat this game properly and give us a product that we'll enjoy for many years to come starting at release. My concern is that EA is hyping this game up beyond what we'll initially receive in November. Time will tell whether that's true or not, which is why I've prepurchased to play the game as soon as readily available.

EA WRC will be a great WRC game for casual players and more hardcore players with wheels but a full simulation it will not be. DR2.0 is not a sim the cars are too light and the handling is too focused for controller, you just turn in slightly and the car starts sliding for you. It does a great job at tricking the driver into thinking they’re doing all the work. It’s super fun and definitely challenging and that’s all I am expecting from they’re WRC. I hope they push it more sim though I really do.

So far, Triple screen support had always been a challenge for Unreal engine games. Kunos fixed it for UE4 in ACC but for Example Rennsport, which is on UE5, does not feature triple support yet. So that will be something to monitor unfortunately :/ - Rene

They may sell it as a "sim" but we all know it wont be close to something accurate. KT's WRC series had issues, big issues, but physics were just right for an accessible rally sim imo. At least as far as AWD goes.

Mal ne frage Michel(P1TV) kann es sein das das Game nur eine Edition hat und faire 50eur kostet weil die Codies einiges wieder gutzumachen haben ? Einige Spieler (auch ich ) waren 2019 ziemlich angepisst als uns DR 1 Strecken als DLC wieder verkauft wurden ! Das werde ich ihnen nie vergeben können ! Und Dirt 4 auch nicht 😂! Yeah the car movements are a bit wierd. In some videos on tarmac they put a massive sudden steering imput (you can see the steering angle) and then back to center and again almost full lock, and the car just stay composed and go around the corner smoothly.. no way in real life. Ok on loose track but not tarmac

Don't know man.. my point was that if you make sketchy sudden wheel movment, the car should f*ck up, doesnt metter if you use the pad or the wheel. Actually, i'm pretty sure that a real sim on tarmac, is almost impossible to use a pad and get good results, because you can't be precise and smooth enough. Besides that, i would be very happy with just a credible and fun tarmac physics, like for example gran turismo from the 5 up, even if not full sim. Dirt tarmac physics just felt wierd

If EA don't fuck up this game with theirs politics this could be the best WRC game since WRC series from Evolution studio. Car list is almost perfect but i miss Corolla WRC 1998,Lancer EVO IV 98 or Carisma Bruns, Lancer VII 2002, Octavia WRC, Hyundai Accent WRC and Ford Escord WRC 1997-1998. Ihope that will be some unexpected situation on stages and more small details like in WRC Evolved. And of course they didn't made game always online in single player mode like Dirt 2.0

Toyota have always been difficult with releasing licenses to codemasters/ea. They work with gran turismo a lot so these older toyota have never been made available

I definitely have my doubts about ea sports given their track record, I mostly play timed trial in dr2 so I'm not too concerned but I won't be buying the game until VR is supported. I hope they fix the tarmac physics, that and wrc cars would satisfy me

Been playing this series since the first installment back in 98, and it’s amazing how it never removed the central pin from the car’s floor. Fun as it is, it’s never been a SIM, not even close. RBR is the only true one so far, while Assetto and BeamNG mods get quite close.

Only thing that bugs me are the graphics. Objectively it looks quite a bit worse than DR2.0. Lighting looks off and because of that cars look a bit out of place, they don't blend in graphically, they look like they're floating above the road. Also the environment and car details are toned down, I like that UE allows them to build bigger stages faster but like I said, details and graphical fidelity looks closer to PS3 era than next gen

Suggestion. Let's not call it a "Sim". It will be a mainstream game for big audiences, it's going to pivot towards being plausible but accessible.

1000+ stages? Thats not in the main game but with mods or community build stages I guess? If so, that's not really comparable right

@@arjannissen Depends, if EA choose not to promote mods then its on them and the game will die quickly. Just look at the longevity of game that promote mods like AC.

Sadly no vr... best thing about dirt 2 for huge audience is missing. Dirt 2 on hp reverb is ridiculously better than on monitor.

Bin da immer noch extrem skeptisch. Die Benchmark ist immer noch Richard Burns Rally. Es geht ja nicht nur um den Sound, sondern um das ganze Feeling das WRC noch Dirt 2.0 gut gemacht hat. Wenn die Fahrphysik wieder für die Fraktion Arcade ausgelegt ist und Simracing Teams keine Möglichkeit haben ihre eigenen Liverys zu versenden und die Servermodis wieder schlecht sein werden...dann wird es wieder eine gut aussehender Rallye-Titel werden ohne die Simracing Fans aus dem virtuellen Rallyesport zu vereinen. Wir brauchen einfach eine tatsächlich neue und moderne Rallye SIMULATION....und wenn dieser Titel floppt (wie WRC Generations) dann wars das dann endgültig. Bin gespannt aber skeptisch....weil da einfach EA hinterhängt.

Ich denke mehr Simulation als DR2 sollte man nicht erwarten, was an und für sich nicht schlecht ist. Aber RBR wird wohl noch länger der einzige richtige Hardcore Rallye Sim bleiben.

My question is, why does it look so bad? Unlit dust effects, last-gen cars and environments, it doesn't look better than Kylotonn's efforts, and it's a generation behind Codemasters' own F1 games.

leave it to EA to kill the game series, i’m sure they will. But at the same time I’m really hoping it’s a good title with proper sim physics, which was lacking in rd2.0

After years of hate, I noticed that EA started to leave developers alone and not intervene so much in their games. They just support them. This isn’t a rule, of course, and we can always trust EA to ruin it, but there are some good signs. That’s all I am saying…

They will never beat modded RBR when it comes to scale. However it's one of the first games I hope we will see dlc for. Even though I'd love to see historic cars separated in different way (so group A RWD cars are put in group A class and there's no split between RWD and FWD historic cars), I hope we will see more iconic cars added to the game in the future.
