Go through your stash box and see if you are hording something that you really don't need. I did and found I had over 2k gunpowder just sitting there. (Energy ammo build here) If you have a lot of a common resource; make it bulk and either sell it to npcs or put it in a donation box.

You can do the 'on again, off again' system where you pay for one month, farm the holy bejeezus out scrap and ammo, load up your boxes and then let your sub lapse. You will still have access to everything you put in the scrap and ammo boxes even if the sub isn't active. You just can't add anything to them unless the sub is active.

I think it might still be going on console or at least it was when I was looking at it for this video.

It's already "in more games". In fact, it's in most games. The thing is, when it comes of cash shops, Fallout 1st is one of the least intrusive, least offensive cash shops out there. If you refuse to support "paywalling" on principle, that's fine. I, on the other hand, don't have a problem throwing a little money at a game that I enjoy playing, especially if that game has no hard subscription fee and they use that money to improve the game. When it comes to no-sub games, I don't expect to get everything for free.

@@keithcraig506 It's the principle of it... I would throw money at it if it was just cosmetics, but when they are putting QoL behind a paywall, then I can't support that... Bethesda is making a problem just to sell me a solution, and that's not something anyone should support, even if they like the game... especially if they like the game, I would argue... cause if you like something, you want it to be better... and not support it just cause it's not bas bad as the others...

@@PROdotes Nearly every free 2 play / buy 2 play game puts QoL items behind a paywell. It's how they generate revenue so they can keep the servers up and continue to develop and improve the game. Far too many games rely on pay to win cash shops, which Fallout doesn't do. I mean, your opinion is valid because, well, it's your opinion. I'm not going to tell you your wrong if that's the way you feel about it. I just don't agree with your opinion. I've played a LOT of free to play games and I've learned not to expect getting everything for free. If I want the "full game", I expect to have to pay "full price".

@@keithcraig506 yes, opinions are subjective, I agree :) But I would still argue that if 76 would make a good game, people would pay willingly... the idea being that if the QoL features were removed from the sub, more people would play, people like me, and that would lead to more potential people who would like the game and want to support it... If you worked for a company and they charged you for renting a chair... that would be wrong... but if every other company charged you for renting a chair and desk, people would go "well others charge for the desk too so this one is good"... even tho neither are good... and that's the problem I feel fans should realize and stop supporting... But no, I don't have the numbers... it's like arguing the point that piracy hurts sales... no one has an alternate universe to test it :)

Only because it's normal for u that's doesn't mean is normal in every game. Fallout 76 players are just stupid enough for spent their money on utility. But a real and decent game make u spent money just on cosmetics. In decent games if u play a lot and reach some goals u can get all u need for ur efficiency in game. And if u like the game u trowh that money in cosmetics gladly. I like fo76 but I recognize the fact isn't a decent game. Is just a pay to win. I play it because I love fallout games since fallout 1. But I'm not stupid. I recognize that is really bad.

@@mtt3000 I'm saying if anyone spends the equivalent amount of atoms they would get first for that month. Like it's a complimentary add on. "Ohhh hey ty for spending money enjoy this for free" some of the MMOs back in the day wouldn't charge you your monthly fee as long as you had spent equivalent in the shop. Which most of us did anyway. Idk I know it sounds the same lol

I still love SWTOR. One of my most played games of all time. I probably have like 3k hours in it and so many alts lol. I have a Star Wars channel but I’ve fallen out of love with Star Wars recently. I want to get a group organized in the discord at some point. Both on pc and consoles! PC myself.

Came up with a nice system on SWTOR: Buy the store bought stuff you want in game, then use your monthly balance to make those outfits shareable. Folks be selling store bought gear all the time. I'm also on PC, haven't been on a console for years now.

SWTOR subscription model is outright awful. Monetization for qol stuff always sucks but at least fallout first doesn’t feel like I’m getting robbed.

If you spend money in the shop, it might be cheaper to pay for Fallout 1st. It all boils down to how much do you spend in the shop each month. If it's more than 1300 atoms a month than you might as well buy the sub. For about the same price as those 1300 atoms you can get 1650 atoms plus all the other FO1st perks. If it's less than 1300 atoms a month, well, keep doing what you're doing.

"keep paying greedy companies" There are 2 types of 'greedy companies'. First there are the companies who will force you to pay full price for the game, force you to pay a monthly subscription and also have a cash shop with ludicrously high priced items. (I'm looking at you World of Warcraft) Second is the type of company who has you pay for the game, often times putting it on sale for cheap (I paid less than $13 for my copy) and then let you play the game for free until they shut down the servers because there's no one playing any more or until the sun goes dark, whichever comes first. Oh, by the way, there is a purely optional subscription you can pay for, but only if you want to. Somehow that second type of company doesn't sound all that greedy to me, comparatively speaking.

Honestly best way to do so is, go to player camps and look for any player shop that has jetpack plans. I’ve found a few for a pretty cheap price.

"you don't get many atoms" A Fallout 1st sub will get you 1650 atoms per month which is about 25% more atoms than if you bought the atoms separately. In other words, for your £12 per month you'll be getting roughly £16 worth of atoms. As for ethics, that's up to you. Personally, considering it's an online game with continuous updates and the fact that the sub is completely optional, I don't see an ethics problem here. I mean, they need to get the revenue they need to keep the servers up and continue to update the game from somewhere.

For extra context: it's $22 full price for us Australians

I literally say in the video that it’s sort of unethical to charge for a game you’ve already bought lol. Get real.

The game is fun to play when it does not crash like 50% of the time. It get so frustrating when you are about to complete an event and your game just crash for the most simple action like opening up your inventory.

It is a Bethesda game lol. My crashes are always at the worst times but they aren’t that frequent for me on Pc. They’ve always had an issue where any variety in hardware turns the game to slop but I’ve played worse games before.

Unfortunately it is pretty stock standard for games as a service. Like I say in the video, the allotment of atoms is honestly pretty solid but you shouldn’t have to pay to unlock cosmetics but I’m an MMO player normally and I’ve seen WAAAAY scummier forms of monetization. I at least feel I’m getting something from it even if it’s only skins and some scoreboard items. Every month when I get atoms, there’s something I can feel good about getting off the atomic shop. Luckily, I’m not a whale who constantly throws money at the game. Never had that itch. I’ll save atoms for a couple months and get a solid bundle. I don’t feel like I’m getting held at gun point like other live service games.

It’s way better than people give it credit for.

@@BarbsVault well with fo 1st, you get tons of perk cards, atoms, storages. If I want to do an event, I have to farm ammo, supplies to make ammo. Throw away other scraps. Couple of weeks ago I did the free fo1st trial and it was 1000% difference. Just the scrap and ammo storage was a game changer. This is why I stopped playing, I started playing again about a month ago.

@@nonemisfit7227 the storage is 100% an issue and something that is exploitative of the player base. I tried to convey in the video that it’s not as predatory as other games with subscriptions. My buddy doesn’t have many complaints and he doesn’t sub but he’s also a freak who loves the grind.
