Then suddenly Type Moon dropped a bombshell on people that are only familiar with the Fate side by announcing a Mahoyo x FGO event collab.

As you said: the Fuyuki saga is all you need to understand Fate. Everything else is only as confusing as you want to make it sound, really.

"Fate" is basically like Marvel and DC. The best way to get into them is to just pick a point, almost any point, and branch out from there. Granted, there are some entries that are better starting points than others but the most important thing is to actually start at all. Want to start with the original VN? Go for it. Want to start with the 2006 adaption? Sure. (In fact, that's where I started...though it was only that option back then) Want to start with "Zero"? A popular one, sure. Want to start with "UBW"? Another popular one, sure. Want to start with "Unlimited Codes"? It's a bit out there, but sure. Want to start with "Carnival Phantasm"? Yeah, sure. Want to start with "Tsukihime" or "Garden of Sinners"? That's fine too. Want to start with "Samurai Remnant"? That's actually a newer one that's considered a good entry point for newcomers. Want to start with "Extra: Last Encore"? Uh, actually, maybe not that one. Want to start with "Prisma Illya"? Sure...though probably stick to the manga and not the terrible anime adaption. 9 out of 10 times, it'd be good enough. Just...start...somewhere. Also, screw Gigguk. While he didn't create the "Fate" is complicated meme, he sure as heck popularized it.

I think you're correct, its not as bad as people make it out to be, but I have a correction: the emiya cooking spinoff is not on Crunchyroll at least not in every country (and I hate that)

I agree, Fate is easy. If anyone wants an easy suggestion: find 2-3 Fate things that look cool, watch them, and expand from there if you liked any of what you saw. I find that people are held back due to volume of content, but that doesn't stop people from starting to watch One Piece, Bleach, or Naruto. You can watch the 2006 Fate Stay Night anime, or the 2014 Remake anime, or Fate/Zero anime, or do the visual novels if you want the original stuff. It's your Fate journey, do what you want IMO. 👍

It’s really not. I think what causes this is that a lot of people don’t seem to understand how multiple routes in visual novels work. There is no specific order to the stories. They are mainly just various what if scenarios. You don’t HAVE to watch Zero before Stay Night because it’s not going to affect Stay Night’s story depending on the route you choose ( except for Heaven’s Feel imo). It just adds more context. This applies to other Fate spin offs as well.

I knew nothing about feet and actually started with the first episode of the second cour of Zero, that seems so long ago now. Of course! I went back and watched the whole series. Wasn't aware of stay night but at the time I watched zero, ubw had not been made but fate is by far my favorite anime franchise

Yes and No If you want to go into lore you're gonna find a lot of complicated, convoluted conceptual shit, but if you just watch the shows and play the games you'll be fine Fate is a lot like comics, a bunch of stories that share some collective tissue but aren't directly related, you can literally just pick any "Run" and start

IMO not complicated, it just not complete, you need additional source to complete the whole puzzle of the story.

Normal adaptation of fate route will solve all problems for anime only's

while they don't technically matter melt blood actually has foreshadowing to fgo, specifically the big bad of part 1's plans. also the sex scenes are only meme worthy because of the translator. Actual scenes in JP are pretty mild and not anything to worth making a big deal about to be honest. also while fgo wasn't directly made from the mmo, there are characters originally used for the mmo repurposed for fgo (not including characters from apocrypha). otherwise a pretty good video that doesn't needlessly complicate things or read lore from a wiki that has a ton of misinformation and mistranslations (looking at you gigguk).

THANK YOU! This will probably be the vid i have on standby now whenever i want to get someone into Fate. XD I will say that the Prisma Illya anime gets... BETTER if you can trudge through it, but i will always recommend just reading the manga instead. The manga is much more focused on the story, action, and spectacle, whereas the anime has CLEARLY shown that they aren't all that good at adapting the look and feel of it (action scenes especially), and is directed by someone who just CANNOT keep it in his pants. For an example, when the director was given free reign to write a story for FGO, we ended up with Agartha, the chapter that basically EVERYONE in the fandom considers to be the worst because of how fetish fueled it was.

Fate/Zero spoils nothing that actually matters about Stay Night. There are things that happened at the same time as it's ending that it explicitly didn't show so they could till be reveals late. The actual big Twist Reveals of the various Routes have no relevance to anything in Fate/Zero. There are two things that were technically originally twists that watching Zero first gives away, but counting as still in any way twists is a Joke, its like how the first Batman comic ever made technically presents Bruce Wayne being Batman as a twist reveal at the end. Saber being King Arthur is literally the entire selling point of the franchise, and Sakura being both Rin's and more important then the first two routes let on may not be as universally well known but anyone who's at all circles around Fate/ for a while before jumping has gotten the memo, she's all over the promotion for the Heaven's Feel movies. I love will people make that Star Wars reference as ana argument agaisnt watching Zero first when i also recommend watching those Prequels first, inf act I recommend only watching episodes I-III the rest is overrated. I started with Prisma Illya and do not regret that decision at all.

Been into Nasuverse since 2006/2007 and this is the most accurate description of Fate-side of the Nasuverse. The starting point is and always been the visual novel. The rest is just a spin-off. Once you grasp the Fuyuki's Holy Grail War the rest is simple. Minor nitpick, you cannot directly jump into El-Melloi series after Fate/Stay Night. You need to go through Fate/Zero first.
