High-quality, affordable and widely accessible, French health care was ranked best in the world by the World Health Organization in 2000. But what makes it so successful? Though critics say the public medical insurance programme costs too much, French people are very attached to (and proud of) their generous and universal health care.

I'm American and I both live and used to work in France till I had a serious spinal injury that has required multiple spinal surgeries and now a upcoming spinal stimulator. I'm very lucky to live here in a country that cost me ZERO out of pocket for everything I've had, multiple scans, MRI's, ambulances, surgeries, long hospital stays, and medication. Through both my government health care and mutual that costs me less than €20 a moth I've never paid anything and won't the rest of my life for something that will be a life long condition that's left me permanently disabled. If I had been in the United States I would be ruined right now!

As a French expat in the U.S., I owe every health institute and professional in France a sincere apology.

It's an interesting system. better than the US. I'm a spoiled almost 40 yr old Canadian. Reimbursed or not the whole pay for healthcare just boggles my mind. For us it just comes out of our taxes so we don't even think about it. Until recently with everything in the US. It's a shame their government lies to them about the cost of healthcare.

The US system is based on Darwinism, it's designed to weed out the weak, that's why the 'Murica is 'Murica......and Canada is Canada...

Hence the reason why I now live in France instead of the U.S. where I nearly had to declare bankruptcy because of a serious disease?

THE QUESTION IS, WHAT IS IT COSTING EVERY TAX PAYER?? ITS JUST SOCIALISM AND IS STARTING TO FAIL.

A large public health care system forces private insurers to lower prices AND be more competitive / efficient. There is no such a pressure for US private health insurers. They can do whatever they want , including withdrawing from the market place, if they are not profitable enough (that's what they are doing in many states and counties, due to Obamacare).

What do you pay for your heath insurance and what does your company pay for it fool? Likewise you do realize those rising costs you're paying are because of everyone else using it along with the amount of uninsured people who also need heath care but can't afford the extreme amount it costs! The moment you lose your job and lose coverage, have a major illness or injury, or the insurance company refuses to pay for your heart surgery to keep you alive or simply cancels your policy because you're costing them to much and no one else will insure you you'll be singing a different tune buster!

The best healthcare is in the US. If you take a look at the top 10 hospital and surgeons in the world. Usually about half are in America. France isn't in there.

Matt Biden and when we’re looking at the American life expectancy it’s clearly lower than the French one. So having great doctors, I have no doubt about it, but for whom? And we also have amazing doctors but we’re paying nearly nothing for our appointments and medications lol
@MattBiden

@Kshitij Raj All you need is a job in America and you'll have free healthcare. Its not the difficult really. You dont need to be selfish and greedy and wreck your whole entire economy with high taxes in order to achieve "free" health care.
@baptbert043
@baptbert043 3 года назад
@@MattBiden You can get free health care in the United States but you will never be able to seek treatment from the doctors you are talking about unlike in France where they often treat the most complicated cases. And if you have a work accident and you no longer have a job, unlike France, you are no longer protected. And in France we also have very great specialists, hospitals and research institutes such as the Institut Pasteur which is one of the oldest research institutes in the world and which was founded by Louis Pasteur who is only the inventor. of the first vaccine!
@baptbert043
@baptbert043 3 года назад
@@MattBiden And in the 100 best hospitals in the world there are still 8 French hospitals which is not nothing for a country in case you forgot it which has only 65 million inhabitants
@MattBiden
@MattBiden 3 года назад
@@baptbert043 There are 5 US hospitals in the top 10 best in the world.... Surgeons look similar too.... If the US healthcare is so bad then why all this success?
