I think the question about Satan is pretty clear in the Bible. Satan simply possessed a snake, it was not the snake itself who tempted Eve. Also, Satan had the same level of power at the beginning of creation as he did during the time of the New Testament. He did have 4,000 years more experience at the time of Christ, and instead of only a small amount of people to work against he now had hundreds of thousands at least. That makes a much bigger impact on the world. Still, he had plenty of influence right away. He was the one that caused the first couple to fall and also the one who caused the fall of their son, Cain.

You guys are missing a very important point regarding the argument from design fallacy: it disregards the fact that we as humans infer something is designed by comparing it with the natural world. We know a watch is designed because watches do not come into existence through naturally processes. When you infer that nature is designed, you are removing this point of reference, and it makes the whole argument pointless. Additionally, in the case of designed things, we have overwhelming evidence for the existence of their corresponding designer; this does not happen with the god of your choice when you infer that the Universe was designed. And this causes a problematic circular reasoning fallacy usually brought up to support God's existence: "Nature was created because it looks as if it was designed, so God must have created it. And what is the proof of God's existence? Its creation (Nature). And how do I prove that it was created by God?", and so on and so forth.

When Genesis is translated from the original Hebrew verbatim, it does not contradict science. Also, Genesis is ladened with many metaphors, e.g. 1: 3, "Let there be light," Before God can command physical substance, there must be a nature, a guiding force, a 'light' if you will, for any desirable results to manifest. Being that there was no sun, i.e. a physical source for light until the 4th day, coupled with the fact that creation of the physical light is mentioned in verses 1: 14 and 1: 15, "...to shed light upon the earth.", therefore, again our rational reasoning dictates we can safely assume the Bible in verse 1:3, is speaking metaphorically. There are verses in the Bible that are not meant to be taken literally, another example, "an eye for an eye," but we can't be too sure of the not so obvious. Only through science can we have absolute certitude. Genesis with the Ten Commandments were given on Mount Sinai 3330 years ago, (to the year). And it was written in the language of man. Man 3330 years ago in comparison was primitive. That is to say, sometimes we may need to wear '3330-year-old primitive man's tinted glasses' to understand it. The Bible does not cover all of creation, e.g. it does not mention God created water, the biggest substance on earth. The Bible was not written to provide the science of how things work and how all were created but as a book of spiritual and moral guidance. Imagine the hysteria and dismay of a society living 3330 years ago if the Bible made them aware that the world is round and spinning at a thousand miles an hour, Either they would constantly live in total fear or reject the Bible outright. Again, when translated verbatim, they're no contradictions with the science.
