Father God, please make it very plain on whom you will have mercy and on whom you will have no mercy, while I loosen myself of every unequal yoke and common share with those God will have no mercy, in accordance with romans 9:14-18, james 2:13, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 and this word, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!
This scratch sheet explanation cracks me up. Last time I saw this was, when my professor was grading my essay. He'd fuck it up with the circles, lines, checks, exes and shit. Use to discourage the shit outta me, until I actually learned how to write a proper essay. The less the scribble the better the essay. Now, to understand the scripture, you must really understand its characters, God, Jacob, Esau. God, he's is the true Devine. He knows all things, which are and which are to be. He knows what you are doing, he knows what you will be doing in the future. He has all power, knowledge and wisdom. He supersedes anything we human can understand, as far as this world. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Ok, Romans 9: 11-13 is speaking of God prophecies being revealed. They haven't happened yet, but they are yet to be fufilled. He spoke it, and it shall come to pass. The very words he speak can't be changed. In other words he set the Esau selling his birth rights into motion when he said Jacob would rule. Why'd he say it? Because God knew the very heart of Esau then. As they fought in their mother, God knew them. Finally, this world is a testament of what God already knew. Jacob would be at the bottom, and Esau would be at the top, in this world. But God has made the prophecy that, he will restore Jacob/Israel. And God says he,Israel The Nation, will rule all other nations. This is from Gods words. It's a wrap then.
He chose Jacob for the line of Christ to come through. Doesn't mean Esau could not eventually be saved. This is speaking of the family lines of Jacob and Esau. This is not speaking about salvation.
I like how he goes in depth with the structure of the Scriptures, however I would like it if he would go more in depth with how God is just, even in allowing one to be created for destruction. I have once heard of the analogy of the skeet clay. Skeet is used for shooting and for destruction. It is its main purpose. However, this analogy does not do so well for me when it comes to Esau and Jacob. I have much fear, I am the first born of my family, and I'm also very hairy. how do I know, how can I have absolute assurance, that I am one that God does not hate. In other words, how do I know that I am one that God has chosen. For, as we have already said, he will have Grace on those he has grace and compassion on those he has compassion. In this scripture he gives no clear affirmation of who he loves and who he hates. What if he hates me... And I love him? I appreciate the help.
***** Great question. The truth is the example you use NEVER exists- in other words, no one will truly love God and NOT be chosen. The fact that one loves God is evidence that he or she is elect. Because NO ONE loves God completely out of himself. God regenerates the hearts of some who would never love him apart from the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit. Then the question becomes "why doesn't' God cause everyone to love him"? We can only say that God accomplishes His purposes IN SUCH A WAY that at the same time humans "freely" choose. The biblical logic is presented in such a manner to say both of these realities are true. Those who don't love God deserve His judgement. So are our choices "genuinely free"? According to Scripture, they are free enough so that God is just in holding us responsible for them. This idea of "complete freedom" floating out in the universe unconstrained by anything has never been true, even though it appears that way to finite humans. But back to your question, "What if he hates me; And I love him"? Again, that person NEVER exists because John 6:37, 44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." In other words, you will not love him (come to Him) unless it is given by the Father. And..."All that the Father gives me will come to me: and whoever comes to me I will never cast out." So, if you come to Christ, have no fear "what if he hates me" ANYONE who comes, he does not reject. If you love him- you already know he does not hate you.

I love John Piper and most of his teachings, but hate his calvinism... How can he not see the error? Dear God, grant him with proper understanding of foreknowledge, election, sanctification and glorification... Amen
Keith Thompson I used to be a 5 point calvinist quite a long time and I taught calvinism in my sermons... I don´t want to argue with anybody, I just prayed for Piper to know the truth...
There is no eternal torture in the Bible. He destroys you in hell. We are all sinners. Therefore the quote " I will have mercy on whom I will". If you think any human deserves eternal life just for existing its a wrong starting point.
The Bible is a Jew meme toxic to humans, never mind the creation story was lifted, stolen, from Gilgamesh so there was never an “original sin” and the reason we need a savior is....? Jews steal and lie, print money out of thin air and are “God’s” favorite, you can read it right in the Bible they wrote. We’ll ignore that “I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” John 5:43 We don’t need salvation from the Jew, we need salvation from the Jews...
