I found Vietnam's friendliest city. Hai Phong in Northern Vietnam is my new favourite place in the whole country the warmth of the people here is unrivalled in my opinion.
We spent the day eating delicious Hai Phong street food, meeting lots of friendly vietnamese locals and exploring this city that is unknown to the majority of tourists here in Vietnam.
This video is pretty much our first impressions of Hai Phong hope you enjoy.

If you're still in Haiphong, you should eat more because Haiphong is famous for their food such as: Bánh đa cua (Crab noodles), Bánh bèo, Chè dừa dầm (Grated coconut soup), Bánh đúc tàu, Sủi dìn also the seafood because Haiphong has beach

In HP you should try Nem Ran Cua Be (fried crab spring rolls) and Banh Da Cua (Crab noodle soup) , two famous specialities of this city . They are really delicious .

If you still here in Hai Phong city, i recommend you both go to Cat Bi market! The foods there like paradise, delicous and surprise me for the cheap! Let’ s try! For me! I love this market so much! Funs🤩

Apparently It was because I was partially speaking issan & I didn't know it,& we was in koh samui which is far south.It was most probably funny for my ex wife,but not for me. 😉 Numbers are different, I'm fluent to over a million in Thai, which comes in handy as I use to gamble with the locals.Its been 4 years ive been back in blighty,& I miss it a lot,from the food weather & daily massage 😉🤣

FYI Hai Phong used to be a gangster's hub in VN . The bad reputation of the Hai Phong-Thuy Nguyen's criminals was very well known in North Vietnam . But today it's no longer the case . The Hai Phong people are much nicer now .

I also wonder why more vloggers aren't descending on Hai Phong, but maybe it's like you said, it's a port city and might be a little rough around the edges for tourists. My SIL is from Hai Phong and when she took her kids back to visit her family, they were all chomping on the little baguettes (like breadsticks) with pate on them. You should find those as I know Max McFarlin and Chris Lewis said they are really good.

I think most foreigners just want to go to famous places and don't really care about proper vietnamese food or speaking to local people. And there's 0 western food or English spoken that probably deters them. Honestly the banh mi cay are heavenly so good!!

Haiphong authority focuses their promotion on port and trade and industrial base, not tourism, so you don't see Haiphong mentioned much if any on VN's tour marketing campaigns. Even the domestic travel industry don't mention Haiphong. A shame really as I personally like Haiphong. Its unique food, character, nice old town and the modern financial district are both nice, plus it's right there in Halong Bay should make it a great destination. It reminds me of Marseilles vs Paris.

@@EllisWR patience is a virtue,of which I have none🤣🍻I like the beach,& when I lived on koh samui we lived down south of the island away from the tourists in leam sor near thong krut.The views were outstanding,& so we're the noodles down by the two elephants statue 😋It's amazing that I watch your vlogs & another fella in Thailands vlogs & it's so enjoyable, but if I was there I'd have a paint brush in my hand staring at walls.Horses for course's 😉

In Hai Phong, the people there are very friendly, but you don't want to get in trouble with the people there, it's called the red shortgun city. because many mafia guys come from here,but don't worry, it's just a joke, there's no shortgun there

But actually there's many illegal weapon made by some house or at rural area to take care of unnecessary settlement on the street and the alley without reason, especially adultery, fraud, gossip chatting, loan shark, you know. As I Haiphongese like only using toy gun from U.S.A and China, such as soft blaster and water orbeez blaster firearm, etc. I'd rather use for legal to shoot, ain't I right?

I have noticed that you put too much chilli and hot sauce in your food . Don't do that because you have killed the original good taste of the food . Just add a small amount of chilli or spicy sauce to your dishes to enhance their taste ( if necessary ) but not too much to the point to destroy their original genuine flavor. A part cela , bon appétit mes amis !
