I'm a North Carolina girl and have lived in Europe for 28 years - the past 27 here in Austria. My 1st visit to Hallstatt was in 1988 when I backpacked through many European countries for one month while I was still living in the U.S. I was astonished by the extraordinary beauty of this village and it remains with me today. Even though in 1988 all shops and restaurants were closed for a few hours from midday to early afternoon, I will never forget my time there. For the past 27 years I have lived in Vienna and Lower Austria - but only about a 2-hour car ride to Hallstatt. Lucky Me!!!

For me, Austria is the most beautiful country in Europe. Forests, castles, palaces, herds of cattle, wildlife, mountains, crystal-clear lakes, great home-made food and everywhere is clean and well-kept.

The little wooden boats get adorned with flowers and candles for Christmas and Easter - beautiful. At minute 12:26 you passed the start of a staircase called *Gaiswandweg* - "goat cliff walk". I visited Hallstatt 3 times and each time I stayed in the neighbouring village of Bad Goisern, which is accessible via that path, all along the cliffs. So picturesque.

What a beautiful little town. And in the last scene, I finally saw a blue skies! I was happy to see snow taking a break while you went up the hill. I never made it to Austria in my European business travel. It was some place I really wanted to go thank you for taking such beautiful pictures of Austria for us. Blessings and see you Saturday!

Hi Snow & Curt!!! Beautiful Austria and this town!!! I enjoyed the video. You guys have the right to claim to be “Hungarian Goulash Snobs”lol! After you’ve had the real deal, ain’t nothin’ like it! I love watching the kitties go on walks. G-Money is always confident and sure of himself, taking the lead, never startled (that I know of) when out exploring. Vanna is always such a pretty princess, with form and style, delicately stepping with cautious curiosity. She looked adorable when she sat up and balanced herself on two legs to smell the flowered branches above her.

As always, I so enjoyed your video. I visited Hallstatt in the very early 1970's. Back then, the MAIN atraction was the salt mine and what it meant to Europe, the Hanseatic League, trade in general and the very lives of the people. I am disappointed that this was somewhat of a sidelight. The history of salt is amazing and legendary. Not surprised that Asian tourists make Hallstatt a stop. Thanks for the chance to revisit it. If you can, please do research where you have just been! God bless!

Beautiful balcony flower baskets filled with fuchsias, hydrangea, geraniums ♥️♥️♥️♥️. Amazing shop with potted bonsai trees- first time I’ve seen this on your travels 😊 I believe the flowering shrub that a Anna was interested in was a Cottoneaster, which birds flock to for the berries. She probably smelled bird scent.

I am from British Columbia, Canada. We have some of the world's highest and steepest mountain roads. I have been wondering if you know about gearing down when going down steep mountains. It really saves on your brakes, because you don't constantly have to ride the brakes. You just let your engine control your descent. Coming from Florida you might not know about this. I have really enjoyed your journey since long before your heart troubles Snow. May God bless you with a continued prosperous journey.

That’s off topic- because what I wanted to add is that every German language town name with „Hall“ in it has something to do with salt. And then I was associating Hallig. The very small islands in the North Sea I would love to watch you explore. ❤😊

My husband and I were there in June. Love watching your visit. It’s not near as crowded as when we were there. We stayed at a hotel next to the church right by the lake by that plaza/fountain area. The cemetery was definitely beautiful. You will see these gorgeous cemeteries in other parts of Austria. Another well known one we saw was in Salzburg. The church bells start ringing at 6am. No alarm necessary if you stay there. We did not tour the salt mine. We visited one 50 years ago when stationed in Germany. The cost is high. My husband and I are discussing when you were there. Early to Mid-August???

So nice to see you guys enjoying Europe. A pitty you missed the saltmine though. I visited once in the late 80s and it such great fun. The guide had a dialect that was a real challenge for us non-native German speakers though.

My daughter and son in law went to Halstatt a couple of years ago. They stayed in a hotel where you had parked the van. It's so beautiful and they did go to the salt mine. But of course they are in their 40's, so it's a bit easier than us more mature people.

Hi. Hope you are both healthy and well. If you had four wheel drive I believe there is a low gear you can set it on. Also wheel locks will prevent your brakes from locking up. I never really appreciated 4WD but after so many years with AWD and no WD, it comes in handy in different situations. Of course if you have insurance that is bad it doesn't matter because we live in dark times.

We were just there this past November and it was a treat to see it in the summer with no snow! Great stroll through memory lane. You said it was low season. - when was this video taken may I ask? It did not look as busy as I thought it would in the summer.
